of that snow they made over the weekend is melting to you. and to add insult to injury, in addition to the rape we have pockets of low visibility, not widespread like early this morning but wilmington is stuck in the fog the last two hours, visibility remains at a half mile and reading 2 miles and the poconos a mile and a half, double scan live radar showing there is more rain on the way, we have the conveyer belt of moisture and in the meantime, from you traveling, more areas dealing with worse weather and this squall line is causing severe weather in the midwest, tornado watches are in effect and then the wrap around cool air is creating some snow near minneapolis, so if you head out of town, heading to the airport do pack your patience because there will be quite a few delays. philadelphia international airport reporting close to 2 hour delays and chicago o'hare, a half hour delay and newark, new jersey, more than 3 hour

was shot dead late this afternoon. police found the victim in the 1700 block of prospect avenue at 2:00, investigating officers encountered a suspect three blocks away, as they confronted him they asked him to show his hands and that is when he allegedly raised hi gun and shot himself. he was rushed into abington hospital and he tells "action news" that his officers did not fire any shots. 26 people are recovering from injuries after a stolen car crashed into a septa trial in southwest philadelphia, investigators say the car hit the trolley head-on while trying to make a turn at grays avenue, the drive and his teenage passenger were rushed to the hospital in extremely critical condition. philadelphia police released a video showing thieves stealing dozens of propane tanks and the thefts have caused major concern

and prompted homeland security to take part in the investigation, chad pradelli is live now outside of northeast detectives with the full story. >> reporter: investigators here at northeast detectives say that the thefts are likely just industrial thefts for money but any time you deal with so many propane tanks and tanks of this size, homeland security will keep a close eye on the investigation. >> this is the surveillance of the first theft at the welding gas and supply center, a lookout vehicle, this light colored ford escape pulls into the parking lot and pull as way and a suspect comes from out of camera view and hops the fence, he goes into the propane area and organizes several tanks and then a dodge caravan pulls into the yard and the two suspects load the vehicle and takes off. >> the quantity that has been taken, some 40 some tanks taken

that adds up to a lot of propane that will last you a long time. >> lieutenant dennis rosenbaum says that market prices for propane are at historically low levels, the thieves could be using the stolen loot for a variety of reasons. >> you could sell it and use it for food trucks and smaller camps use it for heat and hot water, businesses use it. >> and the thieves stole several tanks from james d. morrison construction on pennypack the same night and returned a week later and stole even more tanks, neither company had comment, police and homeland security want people to be on alert. >> we are trying to figure out why, if a person has a reason why, we would like to know. all right thank you for that report. it has been one year since 33-year-old teresa posey was

the woman accused of purposefully driving her car through a crowd of people with her child was in court today, she did not enter a plea, she is facing murder, hit and run and child abuse, one woman was killed and dozens of others were hurt and the lawyer characterized his 24-year-old client as distraught, she will remain behind bars until her preliminary hearing. another death is linked to a takata airbag explosion, a teen that died after a july car crash is confirmed as the eighth death in the united states and the ninth death worldwide and the safety administration announced an expansion of the the recalled vehicles with the takata airbags

being recalled. they can explode with too much force sending shrapnel into drivers and passengers. the birth rate for twins hit an all-time high last year in the u.s., that is according to the 2015 birth statistics released today. ali gorman is at the big board with the details. >> reporter: nearly 4 million babies were born last year and 435,000 were twins, that is one of in 29 baby, in 1980, it was one in every 53 babies was a twin, one reason for the increase is more women are waiting until they are older to have twins and mothers in their 30s are more likely than younger moms and experts point to fertility drugs for the spike and the rate of triplets and higher multiples have dropped significantly, doctors are implanting fewer embryos after

thunder all moving up to the north and east. what is going on we have a warm fronts going through and that brings us the steady rain and that brings us the record warmth, a wider view on double scan live, look what is happening in the midwest, a vicious squall line, watches are up along that line and the latest one in mississippi. and west of that you can see it pulling down the colder air and they have a little bit of snow in minneapolis. we will not be getting the snow and we are getting the rain tonight and the fog and record warmth, and the temperatures are already warm and 63 degrees, the record high is 66 and i think we'll be beat that later tonight. allentown 57 and wilmington 59 and trenton 60 and millville 63 degrees, visibility shows we don't have widespread dense fog and we have areas of reduced visibility and reading two

miles, and the rain tapers off later tonight, we'll see fog developing but tomorrow morning it's developing in places, 9:00 tonight the rain is still here and the steadiest is west of philadelphia and as we head around midnight the rain is tapering off and fog developing, look at the temperature, 2:00 in the morning 69 degrees. through the morning hours, 8:00 tomorrow, 69 degrees and a few breaks of sunshine and christmas eve, we are looking at a run for the record, afternoon high 76 degrees, and we hit that and that is not only the warmest christmas eve on record but the warmest december day in philadelphia and i think a lot of records will fall, allentown 72 and wilmington 73 and cape may 69 degrees, the cold front mofz through tomorrow night and touches off a shower and christmas day forecast, we'll see a lot of clouds and a few
