>> today's weather made it easier for many of us to wrap up the long holiday weekend. thousands are headed home by road, rail and sky. jeff skversky is live at the philadelphia international airport with much more hey, jeff. >> walter, if you travel by air you're going to hit problems. here at philadelphia international american airlines is reporting 34 cancelled flight out of philly today. 135 delayed flights. this is caused by the weather out west and low clouds here at home. >> it's the post holiday rush homes and let the headaches begin on one of the biggest travel days of the year there were dozens of weather related flight delays into philadelphia international averaging an hour and a half by mid afternoon. >> i was scheduled 4:40 and got a notification that it was delayed to 6:15 then 5:5 5 now 6:30. >> supposed to fly out 4:00 it's been postponed to.

>> 6:55. >> after visiting relatives this family is trying to get home to houston which like much of the country mid section is being hit with severe weather that could not have worse timing. >> frustrating especially with work in the morning. >> 30th street station no major problems for those traveling amtrak and rail service reports zero delays. septa suspended its regional rail for a short time this afternoon because of power problems. that stranded nighten family had who had a two hour delay returning from el paso, texas. >> i got to find another way to get back home. >> we're told those septa regional rail lines were only delayed or suspended a half hour. now, american airlines tells me the storms from west are coming this week so they say we should expect more delays and cancellations for travelers tomorrow and tuesday. they recommend that you check your flight status online and

get here in plenty of time. we're live at philadelphia international, jeff chirico, "channel 6 action news." >> thank you, jeff. >> in other news tonight a vacant home in mount laurel was badly damaged today during an early morning fire and flames broke out 5:30 inside the home on 100 block of captainer bury road. crews had to ask for more help. no word how this started and no injuries reported. one person was killed, another injured during this accident in the horsham section earlier this morning before 2:30 a car collided with tractor-trailer near intersection of easton road and county line road. both peopled in the car ended up trapped. one was pronounced dead at the scene and other taken to ab be ton memorial hospital in serious condition. so far no word on identities at this hour. >> charging pending against driver of suv that lost control and slammed into a row home and drove off in camden overnight. around 1 a.m. investigators say

a woman driving along the 1400 block of south 9th street simply drove into the front parch of the home there and drove off and made it a block away when her car broke down. she got out and walked her way home where her family called 9 911 because she was injured. she was treated at cooper university hospital. five people wereed in that home at the time of the crash. and no other injuries were reported. >> and more than 500 coats were handed out today to needy kids in philadelphia. the action cam here he in east falls has young ones picking out brand new winter jackets and darin sproles was there signing autografts and greeting fans it was held at abbotsburg community center and curtis bringly that grew up in abe aberford homes organized this wonderful giveaway. >> it was heartache for eagles' fans the birds fell short in request for playoff bid. it has fans questioning future of team and head coach. >> 11 people are confirmed dead and tornadoes that have swept through the dallas area last night and governor greg abbott is warping the death toll could rise. it gave people in the loan star state the first real chance to survey the damage. there's been reports of as many as a dozen tornadoes and meteorologists are working to confirm that. many watched helplessly as the winds tore through their region. >> i locked out and sought funnel and dove into the hallway. >> it was spinning towards us and all you heards with debris hitting the house hitting the house hitting the house. >> that's when i realized -- >> how about that four countys in texas declared disaster areas and cleanup gets underwa underway. severe weather is not over yet. the texas and oklahoma pan handles and parts of new mexico are receiving heavy snow coupled with high winds.

>> world news sunday will have latest on severe weather in the south west coming up at 6:30 after "action news". a 15-year-old is in critical condition after getting shot late last night. investigators say someone opened fire on the 6700 block of lead street in philadelphi philadelphia's overbrook section. restoppeding officers found the teenager on the ground shot repeatedly. he remains in critical condition at penn presbyterian hospital. >> investigators are looking into the possibility that the shooting on lee street could be related to this shooting that happened half an hour earlier about a block away. police say a man was shot and injured just after 11 p.m. on the 6700 block of lebanon avenue in overbrook. the victim was shot once and suffered injuries to arm and torso. he's in stable condition at presbyterian hospital. >> people living in west philadelphia were treated to a hot brunch this morning non profit group called young educated athletes served up all the breakfast staple for members of the community there
