game of the season. but the big sorry on "action news" is the countdown to 2016. in just a few hours crowds will gather on pens landing to watch the first of two new year eve fireworks shows. and if your celebrations include time outside tonight you'll want to listen up. karen rogers is here with your accuweather forecast. >> hi sara, we lucked out with the weather for this holiday, it's starting to get bright out here after 10 gloomy days. we'll have sunshine back this afternoon. lets look at satellite 6 along with action radar we won't see wall-to-wall sunshine but it's brighter out here than it has been as we look at the thicker cloud cover pushing off the coast and we had showers clipping delaware and cape may county. the rest of the showers will miss us, we are dry and clouds give way to peeks of sunshine. 45 in warrington and 46 in saint

karen is here now with a check of the new years eve forecast. >> not a bad forecast, not the extreme above temperatures we had earlier in the month but we'll take it. lets look at stormtracker 6 live double scan we are dry in philadelphia, you can see the showers that just clipped part of southern cape may county and part of southern delaware, they have moved offshore and we are dry and staying dry, lets go outside, the action cam is out and about. lots of clouds out on the schuylkill river and the strawberry mansion bridge and a good day to do anything outside with temperatures above average,

and it's getting brighter than it has been, here is the highlights, the sunshine is returning in your seven day, also we are talking about temperatures below freezing. it's been a while since we have been abe to say that. it's a historic month, we are 13.7 degrees above average and that is huge, if you look at the records that places us as the warmest ever, we shattered the record 6.7 above in 1931 and s, 6.12. and 50 for your high today, and actually right now as well. you can see that is above average, normally a high of 41 and the dew point 37 and the winds from the northwest and a bit of a breeze. satellite 6 along with action radar showing breaks in the clouds here and there and they are for the most part over here to the west high, thin clouds
