front is sitting right here across southeastern canada above the u.s./canadian border. during the course of the weekend it will drift to the south, it gets in here late sunday night into tomorrow morning. temperatures will be chilly, down right cold and frigid. mostly sunny and breezy this afternoon. 42 degrees is the forecasted high with the winds it's going to feel like the low to mid 30s just about all day long. cold start to january. the sun will dominate the pattern. you'll see that in just a few minutes, it turns bitter next week. i'll have the details in just about ten minutes or so. >> now to allentown where the search for a missing autistic boy continues. police are expected to hold a press briefing. new video shows police searching the home for jayliel vega. he disappeared christmas eve with no coat, no shoes or socks,

they have surveillance video of the boy walking into the woods. a dive team is joining the search this morning. "action news" reporter, christy alletto spoke with the family. >> reporter: allentown police called in air support and more resources on the ground for the last locations of the missing jayliel vega. >> he is very adventurous, he could go very far. >> reporter: does that worry you? >> i don't know what's getting into, where's staying at. >> reporter: she said he bolted from the family new year's eve 1:30, wearing minimal clothes and carrying an ipad they believe no longer has a charge. as time continues to tick away, what's the fear for you. >> if he starts dieing slowly because of the coldness. >> cold weather is the most

serious challenge at this point in time. >> reporter: k-9 units combed passion and -- parks and rivers for crews and asked citizens to stay out of the wooded areas so they could pick up a possible scent. >> it it's 24 hours. >> reporter: it's that reality that's a concern for family members. >> i hope you finds something warm, a cover probably, something to get his own warmth for his body heat. >> a 22-year-old man is shot multiple times after his car runs out of gas. it is not the first time he's been targeted. the shooting happened at 10th and olney in the olney section. the victim ran out of gas when someone came up and opened fire. he was hit three times including in the face. police say he had been shot just a few months ago. >> we're getting information

from detectives that this 22-year-old shooting victim was shot in the chest about 6 months ago and he obviously survived that gunshot from 6 months ago and here he is 6 months later shot again. >> the victim was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. another person in the car was not hurt and is being questioned. >> philadelphia police are investigating after a stray bullet hit a home on the 500 morocco of glenview street in lawndale. someone fired and hit the be second floor of the home. nobody was hurt. one person was inside the home at the time. a picture captures the heroic moments firefighters lord a grandmother from the second floor. she can't walk, they raced in to

get her. flames enguferred the second floor -- engulfed the second floor, some jump from the second floor, others managed to get to the ladder. they are hospitalized for burns and broken bones. a mother got her mother out of the home. this was the scene early yesterday morning in west orange, it took firefighters about three hours to bring the fire under control. the church was originally build in 1827 and housed an episcopal congregation for years. it was sold last year to another religious organization. on a lighter note, the annual mummers parade is in the history books. thousands of people watched the musical sequence-filled journey down broad street. the mummers work all yearlong for the few hours in the

limelight. last night the fancy brigades dazzled the crowds at the pennsylvania convention center. it's another event highly choreographed and hitech wizardry. golden crown was awarded the top prize and shooting star was second. as for the string band south philadelphia strummed their way to the top. ferko took second place, fra governmenter -- fralinger came in third. a toll hike goes into effect on the pennsylvania turnpike. they expect to impose annual

fare increases 3 to 6% until 2044. philadelphia mayor michael nutter is saying farewell this weekend. he tweeted out this picture of his empty office. he thanked the city for allowing him to serve as mayor for his hometown. he wished everyone a happy new year. he hands over the reigns to jim kenny on monday. "action news" will have live coverage of the mayoral inauguration, 6abc will be streaming the entire event as the happens. the powerball jackpot stands at $334 million. a 1 million-dollar ticket was sold in northeast philadelphia. a spokesman said the prize has not been this big since march 2013. the odds of striking it rich are one in 292 million. these much more to come on

a gloucester county police officer is recovering after being hit by an alleged drunk driver in elk township, ocean county early yesterday morning. the officer was responding to an emergency call when a pick up truck crashed into a patrol car. he has since been treated and released from the hospital. the driver of the pick up was not hurt and is charged with dui. another mummers parade is in the books, but the philadelphia tradition is not without controversy this year. there are allegations of racism and homophobia, and one man said he was attacked by two participants. chad perdelli has more. >> reporter: the two insensitive acts were performed by two groups in the comic division. they were not the only incidents that marred this year's mummers parade a young man said he was attacked by mummers for being gay. the comic act was bruise jener

of the weekend getting in here sunday night into monday. that really changes things up around here. it's been so unusually warm and delightful. temperatures in the 60s. we had a few 70s last month. now, we're getting ready to see temperatures for highs top out in the 30s and 20s across the area. future tracker 6 lots of sunshine out there, high, thin clouds from time to time. overnight tonight, clear and cold, tomorrow, wall-to-wall blue skies, a ton of sunshine. monday as the front continues to push through. it will clouds to the area, maybe one or two flurries north and west, once the front pushes to the south, skies begin to clear again. the big story will be the cold temperatures. later this afternoon, highs topping out in the upper 30s, low 40s. actually the model puts everybody in the 40s. you factor in the winds it will feel like the mid 30s out there. and then we get into sunday, sunday is a better day in terms of temperatures. briefly the winds will shift out of the southwest this is ahead of the arctic front which at this point is dropping south
