very quiet day is expected around the delaware valley, but you don't have to go too far to the northwest to start to pick up a little bit of weather. this is the arctic front knocking on the door pushing over the u.s./canadian border. see a couple of snow squalls associated with it. this thing comes barreling south 24 to 36 hours. it arrives overnight tonight. wait until you see the changes tomorrow. today, not bad, mostly sunny and breezy, 48 degrees. tomorrow, a different story. that's coming up in the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast. >> a one-car crash in west philadelphia has critically injured a driver. police say the car went out of control at 3:40 a.m. and slammed into a utility pole. it took more than 30 minutes for firefighters to free the driver. else being treated at hahnemann hospital. investigators are trying to determine what caused the vehicle to veer off the road. an autopsy will be performed tomorrow on a

5-year-old boy whose body was discovered in a canal in allentown this weekend. the sad ending to a frantic search that started new year's eve. jeff chirico has more on the tragedy. >> this is a sad conclusion to the search. it is a sad day for the city, but as always the city pulled together. >> reporter: city leaders made the announcement, the communities was dreading the body of 5-year-old jayliel vega was found under 6 feet of water in the lehigh canal a quarter mile from where he went missing. >> this is consider a tragic accident, however, there will be full investigation. >> reporter: a break in the case came when a volunteer pulled the boy's tablet from the water in canal park. divers spent hours searching the waters, as family members watched and waited. >> i can't imagine what the family is going through. >> reporter: over two days hundreds of volunteers helped

search for jayliel vega who was last seen new year's eve returning -- running from a party from a relative's home barefoot. >> reporter: terry matthews who helped police in the search said it is not surprising that jayliel vega's body was found in water. >> they don't think water is deep, i can drown, they don't have that leveling of insecurity. >> reporter: by evening community members gathered around the memorial with candles and teddy bears to honor the boy and his family they say they never met. >> i'm sure they don't have the strengthen to stand on their own right now. for all the people to come here right now it proves us as a community we are together. >> reporter: the community is rallying around the family, a local funeral director offered to cover funeral costs when he learned the family couldn't afford to bury their son.

an autopsy is scheduled for monday morning. jeff chirico channel 6 "action news." >> the body of a woman was found this weekend in ridley state park in pennsylvania. a hiker made the discovery after venturing off the trail. it is believed the body was there for several months. an autopsy has been performed to figure out who who she is and hw she dies. we have an update on the controversy surrounding the new year's parade. one member was caught on video making a homophobic remark. the captain said the group does not condone the actions or express the sentiments of their proud club. the man has been banned from the club and no longer allowed to be a mummer and never march in the

>> take a look at this a powerful fiery explosion leveled a home and damaged dozens of others nearby and registered on the richter scale in oklahoma city. the force so strong it knocked a person inside from his belt. amazingly he survived and only suffered burns. neighbors say they smelled gas before the blast. >> my sister said there's a fire, our front door was blown in, i said oh, my god that house is gone. >> there's so much damage fire officials said looks like a tornado touched down. utility workers were in the back yard of the neighboring house checking for a gas leak before the explosion.

numbers feel 3 or 4 degrees colder. the winds are humming in the poconos, 15 miles per hour. 7 in philadelphia. 8 in atlantic city. the front we're watching is crossing the u.s./canadian border. we have snow squalls associated with it, they will drift south, there's the counter clockwise swirl. the front pushing through the northern great lake states. it's slides in here after midnight tonight. single digits below zero. the good news it's been so warm, the ground is so warm we don't have too much a snow cover across the great lakes or the northeast. as the air mass drops to the south, it will moderate. we'll not see numbers like this, it will be cold around here, compared to the weather we've seen over the last 45 days or so, we are used to 60 and 70s.

"healthcheck," research suggests that premature babies have weaker muscles than those who go full term. they looked at 247 people who were born from 34 to 36 weeks or late preterm. the groups were compared to a control group of 352 full term individuals. 89 participants were assessed ominous collar fitness. those born preterm did not

perform as well as those who were born full term. slightly elevated blood sugar can lead to kidney damage. a new study looked at 1200 people who were not diabetic over a five year period. they found those who had slightly higher blood sugar had elevated levels of albumin in the european. in the urine. researchers found that unregulated hormone therapy were found last year. they are touted as naturally occurring hormones, but not approved for sale. many are reluctant to use fda

everyone, 9:24 sunday morning, boy, what an odd month december turned out to be here. one for the record books. 31 degrees, 30 of them featured high temperatures above seasonal average 14 degrees above normal which is unheard of. usually when you see a monthly departure you're a degree or two above average. 124 degrees is very, very rare. take a look at the records, 1, 13, 14, 15, 60s and 70s. christmas eve 71 degrees, christmas day 68. that was a record high. 27th, 65. now normally these numbers should be in the low to mid 40s. we were 25 to 30 degrees above

said he never had a back injury before april. the medical examiner testified she found no evidence of a back or neck injury. police in massachusetts say a man had several weapons in his car when they arrested him outside gillette stadium. he faces a long list of charges. police were notified after people complained that he was acting suspiciously outside the patriots home field. he was arrested before friday's winter classic. police do not believe that any of this is linked to terrorist activity. the search afternoon -- of a an oklahoma lake for a missing country singer is expected to resume today. craig strict land is the lead singer of back road anthem.

he is being treated at hahnemann hospital. investigators are trying to figure out what caused the vehicle to veer off the road. an autopsy will be performed tomorrow on a five-year-old boy with autism. his body was discovered in a canal in allentown this weekend after a frantic search that started on new year's eve. jeff chirico has more on the tragedy. >> this is a sad conclusion to the search. it is a sad day for the city. but as always the city pulled together. >> reporter: city leaders made the announcement the community was dreading the body of jayliel vega was found under 6 feet of water in the lehigh canal a quarter mile from where he went missing. >> preliminarily this is considered a tragic accident, however, there will be a full havings. >> reporter: a break in the case came when a volunteer pulled the boy's tablet from the water in canal park. divers spent hours searching the frigid waters as family members tearfully watched and waited. >> it's heartbreaking.
