sunday, january 3 i'm nydia han. here some of the stories we're following for you on "action news." the eagles season is coming to an end and fans are weighing in on who their next coach should be, we have live team coverage. a man is shot execution style and killed in the port richmond section.

the killer is on the loose. dupont is going to layoff hundreds of workers as early as tomorrow. let's go outside to chris sowers he has more on the arctic blast. >> reporter: it is knocking on the door. it's a beautiful day in the delaware valley. 44 in lehigh valley. 34 in the poconos. 49 on the boards in sea isle city. wilmington not too bad for this time of the year. the normal high is 41. we're several degrees above that. windchills make it feel cooler, 42 is what it feels like in philadelphia. 38 in allentown, 37 in reading. 21 for the poconos. 44 degrees for millville and trenton showing 41. here's satellite and radar a ton of sunshine out here today, cloud cover approaching from the west all associated with that arctic boundary that will slip through overnight tonight and

set the stage for cold weather here in the delaware valley monday through wednesday. mostly sunny for the remainder of the afternoon and breezy, already at 48 degrees, we'll up this a little bit, 48 to 50 the range in temperatures. windchills will make it feel cooler than that hanging out in the low to mid 40s throughout the day. the numbers across the northwest as we start to focus in on this arctic boundary that settles in tonight. temperatures are from zero to 7 below. that settles into the region monday, tuesday, wednesday. it will warm a little bit but it's good enough to bring the coldest air to the delaware valley. i'll let you know how cold it will be and when it gets out of here in the seven-day forecast when i see you in just a few minutes. the eagles take to the field for the final game of a disappointing season. they missed the playoffs for the

second year in a row and they close out the season without chip kelly. we begin with trish hartman in south philadelphia with more from fans i'm sure they have a lot to say, trish. >> reporter: that's right, nydia, fans in south philadelphia say they will watch the last game of the season at home or at chickee and pete's. they are answer to his whole take -- to see who will take over for chip kelly. melvin said he would like to see someone from outside the organization to preplace chip kelly. he has to be in touch with the players, you get a good relationship with the players, your house is good, therefore the team will want to play for you. kellie was fired after 6-9

schedule come out, i was sure this game would mean something for one of the teams, if it didn't mean anything i thought it was because the eagles locked up a trip to the playoffs. instead it means absolutely nothing, neither team is going on, all it does mean is an audition for whoever is going to be the next coach of the philadelphia eagles team. there's deuce staley, the running back coach who interviewed for the position earlier this week. he obviously wants the gig, so does pat shurmer's audition. he said he is not going to change a whole lot, the guys know what's in place, it's a little late in the game to do anything major. everyone will be watching to see how he handles the team and how he does things today. we started something in

will be closed n stay with 6abc.com for more on the developing story. police are looking for a killer who gunned down a man execution style. the action cam was on east berk street in port richmond. the victim was behind the steering wheel of the car with the motor running when someone shot through the back window with an automatic weapon. the bullets struck the man in the held. from the way the male was sitting in the car, it doesn't appear that the male didn't know this was about to ham to -- hapn to him. homicide detectives are looking for motives and suspects. crews had to rescue a man from the wreckage of this nasty crash in philadelphia. the action cam was on the 4800

block of haverford avenue. the driver lost control and slammed into a utility pole. it took firefighters a half-hour to free him from the wreckage. the man was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. police are investigating. and autopsy planned for tomorrow on the 5-year-old autistic boy who was pulled from an allentown canal. jayliel vega wandered away from a relative's home on a new year's eve barefoot and without a coat. hundreds searched for him, but yesterday the search came to a tragic end. his body was found under feet 6 of water in the canal. an advocate said they they weret surprised torched him in the water. -- to find him in the water. they do not have that level of insecurity. there will be a full investigation, although the death is considered a tragic

a homeowner in idaho heard glass breaking and looked downstairs to see that, an elk. the annual fell through the

the southwest it's part of the reason why the temperatures are warmer today than yesterday because it's more of a southwesterly direction. 50 miles per hour gusting to 20 or 25 miles per hour depending on your location. that wind is strong enough to put windchills in the 30s. even though the actual air temperature is closing in on 50. it feels like 28, 39, 40 degrees give or take. here's the frontal system we're watching this will continue to push to the south. it crosses the region after midnight tonight. sets the stage for the coldest air we've seen so far this season. cold front knocking on the door, winds shift out of the northwesterly. we get into monday, the cold air functional in, sticks around until tuesday afternoon. it will push toward the northeast and move into the canadian maritimes and winds shift out of the southwest and thursday, friday, saturday, we're back up to 40s and 50s.

missouri. >> reporter: this morning the dangerous mississippi floodwaters moving south leaving community after community under water. north of little rock arkansas, the flooding so widespread divers could be found swimming along what used to be the boat dock of greer ferry lake. the highest crest in history. we've never seen one like that before. you go to work in the morning, everything is fine, you come home in the evening, 8 hours later the water rose 4 feet. >> reporter: the flooding left 24 dead and hundreds of homes in ruin. the high school basketball central tigers running a full court press in an effort to minimize flood damage seen here filling sandbags protecting church community center.

workers were in a backyard to check for a gas leak from a

20s south and east. 32 on tuesday, wednesday, still sunny and chilly and then in the 40s with rain on saturday. a connecticut man is facing charges for allegedly bringing weapons to the nhl winter classic. they found a meat cleaver sword and stun gun. authorities were alerted after people say he was acting spanishly. he is facing numerous charges and trespass and assault and due in court tomorrow. north carolina police are crediting a pastor with saving lives during his new year's eve service. pastor larry wright confronted a man who came in with a gun during a sermon on gun violence.
