three-year-old son was found on october 13th about a half mile away after vanishing from his father's home. tonight "action news" reporters john rawlins and dann cuellar are covering this break through. first, john rawlins live at the camden county prosecutor's office. john. >> reporter: jim, the prosecutor's office is not saying much beyond that the father was indicted and arrested today. it's not indicating how or where let alone why the alleged murder occurred citing rules of judicial conduct the spokesman said the prosecutor can't say anything outside a courtroom that might be prejudicial to the defendant. david dj creato at the haddon township police today was taken into can custody. authorities say he murdered his three-year-old son brandon last fall. it was 6:00 a.m. on october 13th when the 22-year-old father called 911 saying his little boy was missing from his apartment. >> i just woke up and he

wasn't in my apartment. i don't know if he what happened out or what happened. i don't know where he is. the door is locked. i guess he unlocked it and left. >> reporter: that call for help triggered a large scale and at times frantic search by residents and authorities but less than three hours into that search a sad discovery. little brandon's body was found in a wooded area in the cooper river park about a half mile from his father's apartment. it has never been clear how the little boy died. authorities announced the initial autopsy was inconclusive. it was later reported a drug screen slowed nothing unexpected in the child's blood. authorities volunteered little after that except to say there was no evidence of forced entry into the father's apartment. back in october, dj creato's attorney said his client was not considered a suspect. lawfully cooperating and was devastated over the loss of his child. >> he's crest fallen. he's very upset. i think that those words really don't even do justice to the feelings that he has. >> reporter: now, again that's video clip had you from

on this the defense attorney told us he intends to be at his client's side tomorrow at the arraignment hearing camden county. beyond that though he had no comment about the charges that have been lodged. live in camden, john rawlins channel6 "action news." jim. >> thank you john. let's switch live to "action news" reporter dann cuellar. dann you've been getting reaction from creato's neighborhood this afternoon. what have you been hearing? >> reporter: jim, shock and dismay among many here upon learning that the arrest. friends of the family finding it hard to believe that david creato has been charged in the mysterious murder of his son. >> it's just -- it's really hard to believe. hard to leave. parents, the grandparents are amazing people, you know. dj and sara since they were babies and just to -- it's -- i -- i -- i'm just praying it's wrong. >> reporter: friends of the creato family finding it hard to believe 22-year-old david creato has been charged with the murder of his own son but for some neighbors the news is

not surprising. >> when you really looked at it and broke it down it just seemed like it was kind of obvious. i mean i won't ever assume and accuse somebody but seems like the obvious choice to me. >> reporter: and yet others especially those with children of their home had been living in fear that the child killer may be on the loose here in haddon township. >> relief now my family and i and friends and neighbors can rest a little easier. >> reporter: now that somebody is behind bars. >> yes, absolutely. >> i'm shocked. i mean, i'm really shocked. i'm hoping it's not what, you know, they're charging him with to be honest with you. >> i'm praying for the creato family. this is -- this is just awful for everybody involved. i'm hoping for some peace. >> reporter: now if david creato did in fact kill his own son the question many are asking tonight is why. live in haddon township, new jersey, i'm dann cuellar, channel6 "action news."

the corner store and announce add robbery. >> there was some type of struggle over a firearm at that point in time one of the male suspects was shot and killed. the other suspect was apprehended by police. >> reporter: investigators plan to tow away this vehicle and try and see if it was a possible getaway car. and detectives say two guns were recovered inside the store. >> still trying to determine who those firearms actually belong to. >> you just can't can come in enable many people neighborhoods and think you going to stick them up and take something. not in this one. >> reporter: louise hannibal has lived here for 70 plus years. he described the store owner as a good guy who recently turned the corner property into a store. >> his wife and all them was born and raised in this neighborhood. been in this neighborhood all they life. >> they missed with the wrong guy, hm? >> no, they came in the wrong neighborhood. >> reporter: and schools in that immediate area of south philadelphia were placed on

lockdown. that lockdown was lifted about an hour after the shooting. again, so far no one has been charged and no names have been released. outside of police headquarters, chad pradelli, channel6 "action news." >> philadelphia police are taking new precautions tonight in the wake of a possible threat. an unidentified woman told police that a group of radicalized muslims may be targeting the department. she claims the group consists of foremen including edward archer who was accused of shooting officer jesse hartnett in his patrol vehicle on thursday. archer allegedly told police he did it in the name of islam. police commissioner richard ross said officers have been patrolling in pairs for extra precaution. >> it started with the shooting but as a result of the tip we're going to extend it for as long as we think it's necessary. >> officer hartnett is recovering from three gun shot wounds to his arm. archer was charged over the weekend with attempted murder.

an early morning fire destroyed a bucks county chinese restaurant today and damaged other stores containing wedding and prom dresses. the blaze broke out in the kitchen of the hong kong king buffet on bustleton pike in feasterville. smoke and water damaged neighboring businesses including david's bridal and the company has promised to fulfill any orders due in the near future. and is in the process of reaching out to the affected customers. another shop, vip fashion, was assessing the possible damage to prom dresses that were inside its new location directly next to the fire. >> i wanted to let the customers know that we are -- we'll take care of every can customer that ordered a dress. nobody is going to lose their money or anything. >> the fire marshal has yet to determine the exact cause. fortunately nobody was injured. "action news" has learned that pennsylvania attorney general kathleen kane's lawyers have filed an emergency petition asking the pennsylvania supreme court to reinstate her suspended law

license. a hearing date on that emergency petition has not been set. a senate committee will hold its final hearing tomorrow to discuss kane's possible removal. new jersey governor chris christie and state lawmakers have reached a compromise that could expand gambling into north jersey. under the agreement announced today, there will be a referendum on the ballot in november asking voters weather to approve two new casinos. the new bill would also give existing atlantic city casino operators six months to propose projects in north jersey. they have to have a guarantee of a billion dollar investmen investment. >> but the most important thing in my view was to bring resolution to this issue and to give the voters their opportunity this november. >> the bill still needs to be passed by a three-fifths majority in the new session which begins tomorrow. governor christie will likely comment more tomorrow during his state of the state address.

>> rock legend david bowie lost his year and a half battle with cancer yesterday at the age of 69. and if you followed bowie's career you know that the philadelphia area was really important to him. will be during the evening commute. 6 o'clock you can see some of the wet snowflakes around philadelphia but the high 38 degrees so melting when they hit the is your families it's out of here by 9 o'clock and then we dry out but on wednesday it gets very cold so expect the snow. again just some snowflakes in the air along the i-95 corridor south and east and then a coating of snow on the grassy surfaces possible in the northwest suburbs. behind this s & p that low pressure really deepens on wednesday so what this means we've got an arctic blast on the way. temperatures only in the 30's. wind chills in the teens and we're talking about wind gusts more than 30 miles per hour on wednesday so really the cold air behind this system is a bigger deal than the actual snow it will bring. the exclusive accuweather 7-day forecast, tomorrow we wake unwith sunshine. it clouds up some of those afternoon and evening snow showers. the high 44 degrees. but then temperatures make a big drop on wednesday. 31 degrees. wind chills in the teens with winds gusting more than
