that unspeakable crime. what we don't know yet is how the boy was killed and why. it is monday night and the big story on "action news" tonight is the charge of first-degree murder lodged against creato just two days short of three months since he reported his son missing from his haddon township tomorrow. and "action news" reporter dann cuellar live at the camden county prosecutor's office. what's the latest on this? >> jim, making the announcement the prosecutor's office did not specify reason or evidence that led to david creato being charged with first degree murder. we did catch up with his attorney tonight. >> d.j. is pleading not guilty tomorrow. d.j. did not commit this crime. >> the attorney representing david d.j. creato is anxious to defend his client. >> it is not so much a shock as disappointment. d.j. lost his son and now to be

accused as a killer is as bad as it gets. >> october 13 david creato reported his son missing from his apartment in haddon township. neighbors fanned out looking for him. three hours later a k9 unit tracked the child's lifeless body a short distance from the apartment. initially the medical examiner's office said it is inconclusive. and they are shocked with the outcome wondering if creato killed his son why he would do it. >> that's the question everyone is wondering, why. i don't know. >> i am just praying it's wrong. we're all praying it is wrong. >> friends ever the creato family finding it hard to believe that david creato charged with his son's murder. >> praying for the creato family. this is just awful for everybody involved. >> now creato scheduled to be arraigned tomorrow afternoon

before superior court judge edward mcbride. we expect to learn a lot more about what happened and why during the court appearance. at the prosecutor's office in camden, new jersey, dann cuellar "action news." philadelphia police trying to track down a motorist who was caught on tape attacking a couple in another car. call the road rage at fifth and the boulevard in the feltonville section of philadelphia. "action news" reporter live at the scene of the assault. what exactly happened? >> adolph rivers and his wife say it started when the suspect tried to cut them off. when they got to fifth and the boulevard it took a violent turn. >> he hit me here in my eye when i was sitting in the car. and then he hit me in my chin. >> it is this surveillance footage from a business near fifth and the boulevard that showed exactly how adolph rivers got those bruises. police say the driver pulled up behind the 61-year-old and his

wife and began attacking him in his car during the heart of rush hour. >> i rolled down the window so see what he had to say and all he did is proceed to punch me in my face. and i jumped out the truck to defend myself and he swung at me again and i duck. >> and i said stop it. >> and cameras catch tammy salley along with a passenger in the truck jumping out of the vehicle to help break it up. >> and then threw me in traffic. and he threw me in traffic like he didn't care like i was a piece of paper. and then he got in the car and he just left. >> fortunately salley was able to get out of in-coming traffic with only injuries to her hip. the police say the suspects's silver truck is registered to a local business. >> yeah, right up the street and he was in that much of a hurry. ain't that something? >> now police say the suspect is facing an array of charges likely to include assault.

anyone with information about the driver is asked to contact the police. reporting life in feltonville for channel 6 "action news." jim? >> thank you. the police in bucks county arrested a homeless man today accused of committing several crimes in the past two weeks. investigators say 22-year-old amir saunders tried to steal a woman's car, and the woman honked her horn and other customers chased the suspect off. today the bensalem police linked saunders to a carjacking at the same wawa december 30. and freezing temperatures, and set for milder temperatures on the mercury tomorrow, but we are also in store for the first flakes of the season. meteorologist cecily tynan at the "action news" big board with yes, a wee bit chance of snow. >> it's about time. this is the latest in the season we've ever gone without a trace of snow. and double scan live showing the system that i'm tracking is what

is none as an alberta clipper. it is from alberta and clipping through very quickly. and that low pressure will ride up to our north. what that will do is drive a cold front through our region late tomorrow afternoon and tomorrow evening. ahead of it we get the winds out of the south. temperatures in the 40's around 3:00. some snow showers in the lehigh valley. and then the wind shifts out of the west pulling in cooler air and more snow showers around 8:30. it will be falling during the evening commute. but that being said, it shouldn't cause a lot of problems. this is what to expect. the clouds will increase through the afternoon between about 3:00 and 9:00. the best chance of some snow showers. temperatures near 40 degrees, so the road is mainly wet. there could be a few slick spots north and west, and a possibility of a coating and i will talk more about that. the bigger deal is the cold air behind the system. the details in the accuweather seven-day forecast. >> thank you, cecily. there was a hail of gunfire

tonight in the city of wilmington where at least two, if not three people were wounded. emergency responders arrived at the 900 block of brown at 8:00 to find two men shot. a third gunshot victim arrived at st. francis hospital by private vehicle. police are trying to confirm whether that person is linked to the same shooting and exactly what happened. the city of wilmington has hired former philadelphia police commissioner charles ramsey as a public safety consultant. according to mayor deputy nice williams, ramsey will work with the wilmington police department to develop new strategies to fight crime. wilmington has been suffering a raising rate of vicious homicides. philadelphia police are taking extra precautions after they received a tip that a group of radicalized muslims may be targeting the department. on saturday night, an unidentified woman told an officer that the group consists of four men including edward

archer, the man accused of shooting the officer thursday night. archer told them that he did it in the name of islam. since this weekend, officers have been patrolling in pairs for extra precaution and protection. >> it might not be anything to it, but we're not going to take any chances with that. we have to protect our police officers and that's paramount. this weekend archer was charged with attempted murder. officer is still recovering from three gunshot wounds to his arms. lawyers for bill cosby say the charges against him in montgomery county are illegal and call for the charges to be dismissed. they say they were told by the then-district attorney caster that cosby would never be charged because of a 2004 sexual encounter. and his lawyers say that

guarantee led cosby to testify in a related civil lawsuit without invoking his fifth amendment rights. now 10 years later cosby has been charged by current d.a. kevin steele and cosby's lawyers say the testimony from that deposition a decade ago fueled cosby's arrest last month. pennsylvania attorney general kathleen kane today asked the state supreme court to reenstate her law license. they put it on indefinite suspension a month after she was charged of linking secret information to a reporter and she wrote the senate saying they don't have the authority to kick her out of office unless she is first impeached by the house. montgomery county commissioner josh shapiro says he will be seeking to replace kane as state attorney general. the 42-year-old democrat tells "action news" he will formally announce his candidacy tomorrow. and entering a crowded feel of

at least four other democrats and one republican. people around the world mourning a music legend. david bowie died last night after privately battling cancer the past year and a half. ♪ >> the rock 'n roll icon is entertaining fans more than 40 years. memorials in new york, london and hollywood have been growing all day as fans leave flowers and other memorabilia. bowie died peaceably yesterday in new york surrounded by his family. he just turned 69 on friday, the same day he released his new album. david bowie's life and career had connections to philadelphia. he opened many of his american tours at upper darby's tower theater and that's where he recorded his first live album called "david live" in 1974. the philadelphia deejay interviewed bowie many times during the course of their careers.

jewelry stores across five states since last spring. police say during come of the robbery she tied up salespeople at gun point. accused of stealing more than $2 million worth of jewels. ♪ on the campaign front tonight, hillary clinton is focusing more on bernie sanders with three weeks to go before the iowa caucuses. according to a new poll there is good reason. a poll has clinton with support from 48% of likely caucus goesers to 45% for sanders. and until now clinton rarely listed him by name focusing on republican, but now that has changed. and the republican race just as tight between donald tromp and cruz. and trump 31% support and cruz 29%. and chris christie in fifth place with 4%.

and ringling brothers and barnum & bailey shopping using elephants in shows sooner than expected. the 11 pachyderms on tour retire a year and a half earlier than announced. the elephants will live on a 200-acre conservation center. the company, the circus built that facility. and the circus has been repeatedly criticized, picketed and sued by animal rights groups for its treatment of elephants. a u.s. government task force issued new guidelines for mammograms. the u.s. preventive services task force is now recommending that women get one every other year starting at age 50. the independent panel of experts said women in their 40's should make their own choice wearing pros and cons. the recommendations could be controversial because some other groups say that screening should start earlier. even though fewer american teenagers are smoking

themselves, a new study finds that nearly half of high school and middle school students who have never smoked say they're still being exposed to second-hand smoke. most often it is in a public area, but about 15% of the time it is second-hand exposure at home or in a car. the report from the c.d.c. published in today's journal of pediatrics. and two foreign automakers nab the awards for north american car and truck of the year after several years of detroit domination. the panel of 55 independent automotive jirnlists pick the 2016 honda civic for this year's honor. the last one a decade ago. volvo picked up the award in the truck category for its xc90 s.u.v. so honda and volvo picked up the awards this year. >> if we had a big snowstorm coming i would segue, i could same you will need that tomorrow. it is not going to be the case.

kind of a nuisance event, but the first of the year. it is winter we have to see some snow. and double scan showing no snow out there tonight. a dry night and the action cam south broad street where it is cold. but if you are outside you will notice the winds really died down. we have gusty winds earlier today. wind chills in the afternoon only in the 20's now. the wind chill really matching the air temperature, 29 degrees in philadelphia. allentown and reading 18, millville 19. the poconos 12. trenton 22 and sea isle city 30 degrees. so we have some cold air, now we need moisture to create snow. and satellite 6 and action radar showing there is some limited moisture in the midwest. this is a clipper. it is fast-moving producing 1-2 inches of snow in chicago. even chicago not seeing a lot of snow from the system. it is not here in time for the morning commute. no problems for the morning commute, just a cold morning.

mixture of sun and clouds. dry at 6:00, 26. by 8:00, 28. and futuretracker 28 degrees at 8:00 and a little cloud cover to the northwest. the philadelphia areas south and east. good amount of sunshine. as we head through date it does cloud up. at 1:00 the snow showers for us in the poconos. notice temperatures in the 40's. ahead of the front the wind shift out of the south that will warm things up a little bit. and the evening commute is where we see some snow showers. 5:30, 36 degrees in philadelphia. the air is colder, higher in the atmosphere. it can still snow when the surface is above freezing, but a lot of the snow will be melting when it makes impact. by 11:00 it is all said and done. the temperatures dropping down into the 20's. as far as accumulations, not going to see much at all. some snowflakes in the area long i95, areas south and west. melting when it hits the surface. the best chance of a coating will be northern chester, month

might tom coughlin be moving down the turnpike to continue his career? >> it would be very intriguing if the eagles hired him to be the next head coach. it would be an odd ending to a lengthy coaching search and would compete a circle. tom coughlin met with the birds today. and last stepped down as the giants coach after 12 seasons. winning two super bowl titles but they missed the playoffs the last four years. and he began his career with the birds two decades ago and ron jaworski lists the positives. >> here's what i like about tom coughlin and i have known tom since he coached the eagles here in the early 80's. he cares about people. you are not just a football player. you are not a disposable product when you can't help us win anymore, see ya. he cares about people and that's the kind of guy i want to see coaching the philadelphia eagles.
