douglasville. jeff skversky is in doylestown good we will begin with meteorologist adam joseph and cecily tynan. cecily, it looks like the the worst is over. >> it is, walter. people will be happy to hear me say that the blizzard of 2016 is moving out. double scan live showing thaws this storm is really just a shadow of its former self. here's that low pressure that to continues to pull out to sea. as it does it is taking all of the snow with it. now with that being said we still do have some light snow showers, falling across south jersey, the steady rain along the garden state parkway. but this should not provide anymore accumulation. this will be moving off the coast, within the next two hours by 1:00 in the morning, 1:30 the flakes will be gone. but, this was one for the record books. the all time biggest snowfall in the the history of allentown. 31.7 inches, breaking the the old record setback in the blizzard of 96.

this is pretty much a season's worth of snowfall. the seasonal average, less than 32 inches, and philadelphia, now the sixth largest snowstorm, 20.8 inches and also very close to what typically we will get in an entire winter. and this storm historic, not just because of the snow, but also because of the coastal flooding, adam joseph has tea tails on that, adam. >> pretty impressive numbers from this morning's round of high tides with major flooding. record highest tide ever in the history of cape may harbor this morning at 9.38 feet. same thing for lewes delaware in the bay, 9.27 feet. great channel in stone harbor ten and a half foot high tide. all of these three locations, it it was higher then super storm sandy. again, higher then anytime in their history. the as we take a closer look at the warnings, we just had another round of high tide a few hours ago at 7:00 o'clock. one more tide of concern, sunday morning at 7:26, a.m.,

anywhere a along the new jersey coast, the delaware beaches, the the back bays, and even for the delaware bay itself on both sides into the delaware river at delaware city, we have an astronomically higher than normal tide because of the the near full moon. tomorrow morning tidies around 7:26. it could be worse. there could be worse flooding then there was this past high tide, just because, it is a higher astronomical tide then it was a few hours ago. as we look ahead to the next few days a few good things going here and some bad. sunshine will be back both days on sunday and monday with temperatures above freezing. you will get a lot of melting during the day. however, once the sunsets these temperatures will crash. so we will have a quick refreeze, each night, and have to have some black ice during the morning rush hours, so definitely, if you are cleaning up the sidewalk, the driveways you will definitely want to throw some rack salt out each night because they will all refreeze the the next

few nights. when cecily tynan comes back she will show thaw exclusive accu weather seven day forecast and the good thing going here, it is pretty quiet. >> quiet goodies. >> thanks, adam. we will begin our coverage with "action news" reporter jeff chirico live from margate. >> jeff, you have been seeing significant flooding all day long. what does it look like right now. >> reporter: let's take a look, right now sarah. flooding here in margate, it looks more like a river then ventnor avenue three or four blocks of margate's business strip is under water, as well as several side streets after a morning high tide that brought significant flooding to a number offshore communities, many were waiting anxiously to see what tonight's high tide would bring. as evening rolled in high wind, and another round of snow, went through atlantic city covering roads and making driving treacherous. >> it was real bad. the roads are bad. the expressway is, it is wet, and i saw people driving way

too fast. >> you have to drive slow because it is slushy, ice on the road. >> reporter: when high tide hit all eyes turn to the rising water, police shut down access to part of the ventnor hit by back bay fooding. don lives along a channel and said he stayed during super storm sandy and has no intention leaving now. >> even though this is bad, it is not even hitting the top step. >> reporter: in margate, large parts of the town were flooded as water poured over the bulkhead and through neighborhoods. >> when i looked and i said oh, my god, it was completely covered. >> reporter: catherine mclaughlin is watching and praying from her front step as water creeps closer. >> even though i did take it off the floor, my computer stuff, and all that, but i don't think it will hit the house. >> reporter: and back out here live you can see police blocking ventnor avenue to prevent any traffic from using, this part of the road. you may also see what looks like an iceberg a big chunk of

you are. >> yes. >> reporter: this is her first time. >> how many times did you go down? >> i went down five. >> reporter: five times. >> yes. >> reporter: what about how fast. >> it is fast and it is really fun. >> reporter: in olde city plow trucks struggled to keep pace with the fast moving flakes that leave roads ice packed and slippery for those daring to taunt mother nature. >> why did you think it was okay to drive-in this weather even though they said don't get behind the wheel. >> because it is fun to be ambitious. >> reporter: now you are stuck. >> we are volunteers for the national park service and we shovel around the park, christ church and try to shovel out, you you know, local businesses in the area. >> reporter: you were able to dig out, explore on foot, others by snowmobile. >> helping people out. we are picking people up. >> reporter: but still the step is where it is at. >> wow. >> reporter: is this your first time coming to the steps to sled. >> yeah, it is. >> reporter: and no telling how long people will be out here this evening. they will be coming back, even

tomorrow, but the the big question is how long are these steps going to stay snow covered for them to do all of this? reporting live from center city, christie lleto for channel six "action news". >> thanks, christie. we will move to the suburbs and "action news" reporter dann cuellar. >> dann, you have been meeting plenty of adventurous folks at the wawa in west chester today >> reporter: we have met all sorts of people. it has been a wonderful experience to know our viewers and get to feel what they are going go through. these scenes tell the story what the people of west chester have been through today. it has been brutal. take a look at this plowing, plowing, plowing, and still the the parking lots and roadways are a mess. the blizzard pound ago way for better part of the day and then like a true cat, disappearing, disappearing, leaving the mess to clean up. the clean up, as you can see, will not be pretty. it will be a bear. having a said a all of that, everyone has been telling us and we have witnessed just how bad the roads are out there.

six, traveling down the the snowy streets of philadelphia, crews will be working around the clock to clear the way but be patient, it will be a few days at very least before all of the city streets are cleared. we do have one death in our area because of this storm, an 88 year-old man in lower providence, montgomery county, suffered a fatal heart attack while shoveling the snow, he is among 13 people across the the country who died, as a result of this storm, so far, several while shoveling the snow, others, in automobile accidents. meanwhile, atlantic city electric is reporting a number of lingering power outage is a long the jersey shore. they are reporting more than 23,000 outages in fact. majority of those in cape may county. the power situation in delaware is getting better at this hour, del marva is reporting about eight hound -- 800 outages. overall, power outages never became a major issue during this storm. things are finally moving now in the pennsylvania turnpike. good news, of course. problem began in somerset

county last night when some tractor trailers were unable to get up a hill. so the vehicles behind started to backup. so, it was estimate that had 500 vehicles were stranded, between there and bedford, somerset and bedford. this is the scene earlier today. you can see the traffic stretched for miles. the natural guard used front end load tours help dig out some of those vehicles. crews removed barriers along the vehicles to fuel up at a turnpike maintenance shed before getting off the highway. the basketball team from duquesne university was one of the groups stuck out there on the turnpike. they got stranded around 95:00 last night. they finally started to move just a short time ago and they posted this video on you tube, earlier tonight, of them pushing their bus through the snow. somerset county emergency management agency help the team out today by getting them hot food and snacks. temple university women's gymnastics team found themselves in the same

situation l heading to a meet last night when they too got stranded there in somerset county. we have talk to the team and they told thus were in good spirits throughout the the ordeal. they had heat, a bathroom, tv and food. they thought they were going to have to spend a second night but they were also, finally on the move, at this hour. we want to give awe very, very special shout out to some residents in south philadelphia who have a big helping hand or gave us a big helping hand to "action news". >> this evening one of our photographers was on his way to shoot a story and saw a fire truck getting stuck in the snow when his van got stuck at front and jackson street. now because of this group, hi, guys, they helped him push him out. the the "action news" van was back on the road in no time. from all of us here on "action news" a big thank to you these folks in south philadelphia. >> we have the best viewers. >> yes, we do. much more to come including our coverage of the blizzard of 2016 still ahead. back in berks county they found a perfect way to get

tomorrow at philadelphia international airport, after officials made rare decision to cancel all flights in and out of the airport all day to day. tonight officials tell "action news" that weather permitting, flights will resume on sunday, but many airlines are planning to run on an abbreviated schedule. so as always check with your carrier before going to the airport. amtrak will be running on a modified schedule tomorrow as well, however, there will be no service between washington d.c. and locationness virginia and south east. passengers holding reservations are strongly encouraged to keep a close eye on conditions and make any necessary changes in advance of the departure. and blizzard has pushed septa's expected restart time from 4:00 a.m. tomorrow to 10:00 a.m. it might even be longer for certain bus and trolley routes and regional rail lines. market frankford and broad street lines have have been running honor close to normal schedules and that is expected to continue overnight into sunday. the news is not as good in delaware. dart has suspended services on

all buses and para a transit vehicles for tomorrow. dart officials recommend that customers check their web site for updates on monday's plans. areas to the north of the city of philadelphia saw some of the biggest snow totals today. "action news" reporter chad pradelli is live now in douglasville, berks county where it was snowing all day. chad? >> reporter: hey, sarah you better believe it. you saw it earlier today but right now, it is actually the best it has been all day. snow has stopped. the wind have died down, and it was much different scene earlier this afternoon. i want to take to you video we had earlier. you will remember it was coming down the at such a good clip. it was coming down one to 2 inches an hour. the wind were whipping. it was cold. the snow was horizontal. it was really an ugly situation out here. we seen plows all day. we saw plows on the ben franklin highway. they have been working around the clock in the parking lots, on the roadways. we don't know the exact road

conditions here in the region because we have not been out and about too much doing these live shots but difficult speak to drivers, i spoke to one just moments ago and he said roads are passable. you need to be careful. i spoke to a drive late this afternoon and here's what he had to say. >> it noise tooth bad at 422 but getting out of the development, they didn't even touch it the yet. >> reporter: side roads are brutal. >> yes, it is tough. but we will make it through. >> reporter: here's the parking lot of this wawa. you can see it is wet but most of the snow has been push to the side. you can see these mound, they are ten to 15 feet high. but we got the about 2 feet of snow here in douglasville so there was snow to have move and these plows will be working throughout the night and tomorrow and into monday morning but they have been doing a great job getting these roads cleared for the most part and you have to give them a hand, all of the municipalities, penndot and crews working around the clock. live from douglasville, chad pradelli for channel six "action news".

the the city that never sleeps is taking a little nap tonight. new york city officials imposed a travel ban this afternoon. the that is because you more than 25 inches of snow, felon central park. roads were shut down, and above and bus service was stop. even the great white way went dark. all broadway shows today were canceled. well, new york city main stape refused to lit mother nature change his routine. the man known as naked cue boy kept playing in times square. forget layering, this guy didn't bother to wear pants. the tourist in times square today will have interesting pictures to take home.

psyched toll get through so the the shore impact is sunday afternoon. next high tide between 7:00 and 8:00 o'clock tomorrow morning and that will cause additional coastal flooding. the it will not be as bad as tonight's flooding which wasn't as bad as this morning, significant beach erosion, i will tell you, dewey beach, i tweeted out a photo of that and beach was hurt very hard. wind will be decreasing down to 35 miles per hour, as we head through the overnight hours. tomorrow the sunshine is back, temperatures not bad, we will get melting going on, philadelphia 32. trenton 34. cape may 33. and reading is 32 degrees. so the exclusive accu weather seven day forecast we deserve quiet weather. tomorrow sunshine is back, breeze which a high of 32. it gets warmer on monday, 37 degrees and then tuesday, 43 degrees, that will lead to a good amount have of melting, mostly cloudy with a possibility of shower. on wednesday more cloud and sunshine with a high of 40 and then temperatures take a bit of the hit, thursday cooler,

letting us be part of the fun. meteorologist melissa magee joins us now with a look at some of the thousands of photos that we received. >> yeah walter and sarah, we love getting these photos from our viewers. they all used the hashtag six a abc action and able to share what they saw, with you. the the first video, first picture you are looking at several inches of snow where it does not belong. the it is inside janet nathan's attic. she sent us this photo saying the blizzard blew in through a vent on top of her roof. they didn't realize it until she noticed a small drip in the ceiling and discovered the indoor snowstorm. good luck with the clean up on that one, janet. here's another picture from collegeville, pennsylvania. laurel, captured a powerful scene outside her collegeville home. her husband, gary, spent six hours clearing off her neighbor's driveway, knowing that this was her first snowstorm, without her husband. he passed away this fall.
