were. they were sonic booms, and they really shook things up today. thursday night, and the big story on "action news" tonight is the u.s. navy making super sonic waves off the del marva peninsula. this map shows the designated areas where two fighter jets, an f35c and a f18, conducted routine test flights today, and today those tests, attracted a lot of attention. every day and in the same area and usually isn't felt, on land. reporting live from hammington, christie lleto for channel six "action news". jim? >> thanks, christie. police in wilmington have recovered the suv stolen this morning from the home of delaware senator chris coons. police found the vehicle at sixth and cleveland avenue, police say the suspects might be juveniles who stole a second vehicle today and then fled. the senator had already left his house before the vehicle, left running with the key in the ignition was stolen. a car stop and arrest turned violent for philadelphia police tonight. chopper six was over the 1900 block of stella street in port richmond just before 9:00 o'clock. the officers say that they pulled over a vehicle will and they found two guns inside. they took one suspect into custody whom they say kick out the rear window of a police cruiser. no officers were hurt. there is no word what charges the suspect will face. it was a different kind of

police assist tonight, at the fraternal order of police in philadelphia. the fop held a benefit for a police officer josh hartnett, the law man ambushed by a gunman on january 7th. "action news" reporter dann cuellar was there tonight. >> reporter: officer jesse hartnett smiled, and shook hands, with hundreds of people gathered tonight to celebrate his heroism and raise money for him and his family. >> it is very overwhelming, the support that is shown not only from officers but there is people just dropping checks off by the hundreds, you know, just because they want to. businesses, local businesses, community leaders, and, you know, he just wants to express his thanks to everybody. >> reporter: police surveillance camera captured ten seconds of the terror of how he was shockingly ambushed while on patrol in west philadelphia by a man claiming allegiance to isis. incredibly hartnett shot three times in the left arm managed to get out of his patrol car and fires back wounding his attacker.

>> reporter: the event was expected to raise several thousand dollars for hartnett and his family. in northeast philadelphia, i'm dann cuellar for channel six, "action news". an extraordinary night the for a courageous law men jesse hartnett. authorities have yet to detail the cause of a house fire this morning that claimed the life of the 25 year-old woman the blaze broke out in the 100 block of sheffield road in cherry hill. the the the victim's moth's arrived at the home to find it a blaze and tried to convince her daughter to come out. the victim died at the hospital. the three fire fighters suffered minor injuries. and it was january 19th when a four alarm fire attacked an apartment building at 2122 locust street in center city philadelphia. tonight officials began a dialogue with local residents, many of whom had a lot of questions. surrounding it. the residents are concerned about the the safety of this building. they also want answers about the the fire, the the fire commissioner, a says that he now knows the origin of the the fire but not the cause. >> a panel consisting of l and i, fire department, red cross and emergency management met with concerned residents. they heard from sherry goldmangotlieb displaced by the four alarm fire at locust. >> is what the the likelihood that there will be any salvage? i lived at 2122 locust street, and this is important to me. >> reporter: neighboring residents want to know is what the safety of the gut building that has now been condemned. >> how is it that you can tell us that the structure is safe, specifically who, what are their credentials have been inspecting that structure. >> reporter: the fire department says that the blaze started on the first floor, but the the cause has not yet been determined. arson though has been ruled out. >> there is no evidence that there is any signs of arson.

chad pradelli for channel six a "action news", jim? >> thanks, chad. starting tonight the city of chester will offer a $5,000 tonight, for any homicide case. that announcement from mayor thaddeus kirkland comes at heels of two murders in chester last night. tipsters must provide information that leads to an arrest and convictions. call the crime hot line at (610)447-7810. and philadelphia police say that this man robbed two people of cell phones after posing as a buyer. investigators say that the victims posted ads to sell phones on a web site called offer up now. the last week the suspect agreed to meet the sellers in olney. but instead of buying the phones, he showed a gun, took their phones, and then took off. both of the meetings took place after midnight which police say was a red flag. >> the word of the day is, you know, beware. be very aware of who you are dealing with and be aware of

your surroundings. 12:30 in my opinion is not the ideal to meet somebody to buy or sell anything. >> if you are selling anything, detectives advise setting up a meeting in a public, well lit area. philadelphia school officials are investigating this mala, inside of wood row wilson middle will school in the north east. it happened january 15th but authorities say that they were unaware of it until today. the cell phone video obtained by "action news" shows that the fight involved several students. one boy gets repeatedly stumped on the head. the the philadelphia police say that the victim and his mother where the knot cooperative and so no charges were ever filed. a camden county police officer who crashed his patrol car into a building is recovering from surgery tonight. an "action news" viewer sent us video of the moments after the officer's cruiser slammed into a floral shop. it happened near the intersection of 27th street and sherman avenue at 11:30

this morning. the officer's wife tells "action news" that her husband crashed while trying to avoid another driver. he is expect to be okay. pat's steaks in south philadelphia is one of the several restaurants, hit with violations by the the city's health department. inspectors visited pat's on january 14th and found 11 infractions, including mouse droppings. evidence of rodents also found at dibruno brothers in center city. sixteen a additional infractions were fund there. managers at both establishments say the problems have been corrected. tonight, an operation is underway, on the streets of norristown, to clear the piles of snow that have yet the to melt. days after the blizzard. police are blocking main street, down to gay street, and dekalb up to chestnut. residents have been warned not to park there. snow removal crews started at 8:00 o'clock and they will
