trying to save his father. the flames broke out on 100 markly street in norristown. family members tell "action news" that the boy ran back into the burning home because he thought his father was still inside but the father had made it out and the child was sadly killed. vernon odom spoke with the family and people that witnessed the father and will have more in a live report at 12:30. we are following breaking news from delaware county, one person died when a tree fell on to a home here into a bedroom where a man and woman were trapped. "action news" reporter, annie mccormick is live at the scene in broomall with the latest. >> reporter: and rick you can see behind me crews are still out here removing portions of that giant tree that left a lot of damage to the home, they fell on top of a couple while they

were sleeping in bed killing the woman. this tree fell on to a home in broomall, killing the woman while she slept in her bed and the man was brought to the hospital. >> it came down at 6:00 a.m. and came down with a lot of force and crushed the roof of the house and pinned two people inside. >> the tree was physically on them, when we picked the tree up we had a sigh of relief from the guy. >> crews rushed to the scene and began a delicate operation of removing the tree with a crane. dozens of people assisted and family members arrived and comforted each other when they learned of the tragic accident. it took nearly an hour to rescue the survivor, they worked to keep him alert and get him out alive. >> he talked to the rescue company the entire time they were working.

a relative was here and he talked to her before he got put in the ambulance. >> at this hour we don't have word on his condition and police can't say for sure if weather was a factor but they do say that because of the resenheavy snowfall it did weaken many trees in this neighborhood. >> all right thank you. now to developing news from new york city. a massive crane crashed down on to the street and killed one person and injured three others, the tree landed on parked cars in the tribeca neighborhood at 8:30 this morning. the person that died was in one of the car there's and a third person had minor injuries, the crane was being lowered as a caution due to strong winds. investigators are on the scene now and we'll bring you updates on this story online at

6abc.com. turning to accuweather, parts of the tri-state area woke up to snow and enough to cover the sidewalks in burlington county. people had to take time to clear off their cars before heading to work. looks like the snow cleared out in time for the weekend. first weekend of february. the sun is already back out in philadelphia showing you penn's landing on a pleasant friday afternoon. we are live with team weather coverage this hour. new jersey correspondent nora muchanic will give us a look at the conditions in mount holly but first latest from accuweather and melissa magee. >> hi there, conditions are improving across much of the delaware and lehigh valley, here is double scan live radar light snow showers there in lancaster and chester county and all of that has cleared is the i-95 corridor and pushing to the east and clearing coastal sections of new jersey, widening out the picture on storm all of that

heavy snowfall pushing off to the east. new england they could find 6 to 10 inches of snow thanks to the same system that moved across our region early this morning. newtown in buck county, 3.2 inches of snow and port norris, 2.8 in pitman and 1.2 in smyrna, delaware. as far as the temperatures, they are rebounding nicely in the wake of the weak system that moved through today 42 in philadelphia and beach haven, 33 and 36 in wildwood where are you dealing with residual snowfall and more accumulation is likely before it heads off. snow continues to exit the coast and sunshine is making a come back and wind will gust from 25 to 35 miles per hour. we'll take a closer look at that
