a pleasant good morning to you, it is 7:00 a.m., on this saturday february 6. here's a look at the stories we're working on for you on "action news," we're following breaking news. a philadelphia cab driver has been shot after picking up a fare. a chester county high school football team under investigation faces claims of hazing. a beautiful start to the weekend across the delaware and lehigh valleys. we're keeping our eye on the next possibility of snow. meteorologist chris sowers is outside with a look ahead at the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast. when will the snow arrive, chris? >> reporter: right now looks like a monday night into tuesday event. it doesn't look too impressive. doesn't look like big snow

totals with this one. nonetheless there's a little bit more winter white on the way. we'll talk about that in the full forecast coming up in ten minutes. for now we'll focus on the temperatures. 21 in pottstown. quakertown, 23. martins creek 19. warrington 24. levittown 23. glassboro, 25. same number for cinnaminson. hammonton, 21. vineland, 20 woodbine, 24 degrees, we don't have much of a breeze we're not dealing with harsh windchills. it's cold enough, bundle up this morning. i want to advice you to use caution this morning especially in areas that have snow on the ground we're seeing frozen slush out here, and patchy black ice. some of the sidewalks are slick as well as the secondary roads and parking lots. be careful this morning. by late morning into the first part of the afternoon the temperatures climb above freezing and that melting process begins all over again.

satellite and radar we'll keep it clear and quiet today. 10:00 a.m., 35 degrees lunchtime, 40. by 3:00 p.m., 45 degrees shooting for a high of 46 which is a good four degrees above average today. tomorrow it's better, lots of sunshine, temperatures up near 50 and then things get dicey monday night into tuesday. as gray mentioned we're watching the possibility of light snow. we'll talk about that in the seven-day forecast when i see you again in just a few minutes. gray? all right chris, thank you so much. back to the breaking news from philadelphia's point breeze section. a cabby shot this morning on the job is fighting for his life. police say a passenger may have pulled the trigger. the search is on this morning for that shooter. following the gunfire the cab crashed into a parked car car on the 2300 block of morris street. the cabby was taken to penn presbyterian hospital listed in critical, but stable condition.

there's an extensive investigate happening at conostoga high school in berywn, chester county after allegations of hazing surfaced. dann cuellar has the details. >> reporter: word has been spreading around fast at conostoga high school since detectives began snooping around asking questions about the alleged hazing in the football program. there's crazy stuff involving seniors doing not so cool things to the freshman. >> reporter: conostoga high has a respectable football program. the first alleged allegations go back to the football season last year. 50 to 70 people are being interviewed to find out how widespread was. much of it is said to be your average hazing idiotcy.

one incident may have injured a victim. there appears to have been a ritual theme about the hazing and there's a sign of a culture school officials need to deal with. one student said the boys involved are good guys. boys new locker room, stupid things are going to happen nothing to the degree that's going around. >> reporter: i'm dann cuellar channel 6 "action news." a temple university security guard was injured after being struck by a hit-and-run driver. that guard was sitting in his personal car near 13th and burke street in north philadelphia. the driver took off but was located at 1 11th and diamond street. the driver was back and neck injuries. police say a 7-eleven was

held up by a gunman. he demanded money. the clerk refused thinking it was a pelt -- pellet gun. the gunman shot the man in the thigh. detectives call them urban terrorists. they put the fear in the victims they are going to hold up, stick up, shoot. investigators are looking into whether the suspect is connected to other crimes at other 7-elevens in the last two weeks. no prison time for rapper meek mill, instead he has sentenced to house arrest. he will have to serve 90 days house arrest and of dates probation starting march 1. he violated the terms of his parole. he traveled out of state to be

with his girlfriend. he barred from performing until june and must do community service. a man accused of kidnapping a jewelry store employee will spend 30 years in prison. he was the ring leader they claim he and two other men force the the woman into the van last april and beat her when she would in the provide the code to a safe. one accomplice was sentenced to 15 years and the other is awaiting sentencing. dorney park is under fire for firing a special needs man. 30-year-old christopher emory has cleaned bathrooms at the park for the past 12 seasons. a friend took to social media after chris was dismissed. several high ranking employees called him to offer his your back, he said no. he said in addition to being

firing he was bullied by employees. kids make fun of me at the park. chris' mother said she held her tongue about the bullying for 12 years. when he complained to his supervisors they told him to stop being a tattletale. the health department in pennsylvania anne new jersey say they are concerned about high leaves of lead poisoning in children. in our area, the health leaders say the lead is coming from orderly homes. 2014 disud by the department of -- stud by -- study by the department of health found 14 cities have higher levels of lead than in flint. 90% of the homes being

pre1978 there's a lot of lead that needs to come out. pennsylvania let's physicians determine if a child should be tested for lead. new jersey mandates the tests. 7:08. the building that once housed west philadelphia high school is getting a major makeover. the massive building will be converted into apartments. a brooklyn-based developer has secured a loan to turn it into 300 units. west philly high school opened in 1912. in 2011 students mored into a new buildings a few blocks away, construction is set to begin next year. a piece of trenton history is no more. demolition at the trenton center high school is nearing completion. yesterday the iconic clock to your above the school entrance was taken down by rope and a crane. school opened in 1932. demolition is set to be

girl. new england dodged last month's blizzard. this was their first big storm of winter. last winter boston got slammed by 100 inches of snow. >> reporter: it was 108 total. if you hate the snow, remember the blizzard that we just had? we had four of them in four consecutive weeks. they are breaking all kinds of snow records last winter. buffalo had a crazy winter, as well. right now we're seeing coal -- cold temperatures. this is a beautiful shot, down in chester, you can see the sun starting to rise, almost looks like a postcard on this chilly saturday morning. double scan live is clear we'll keep it clear all we could. the next chance of moisture moves in here in the form of a rain shower monday and periods

of snow tuesday. 29 degrees in philadelphia. dewpoint, 22. witch, 24. we have a breeze out of the west southwest at 5 miles per hour. reading, 23. millville, 22. dover, 28. most areas are reporting zero or no wind speeds at all at this point so we're not dealing with a harsh windchill. small upper level feature pushing through that brings high clouds to the region later this afternoon. not a big deal. you'll see the same thing happen sunday, with a southwesterly wind testers get milder. arctic front knocks on the door pushing through the high plains today. mild air ahead of it. today is quiet. tomorrow is quiet up and down the entire southeastern seaboard. this storm gets better organized. this is another coastal feature. note how far off the shoreline it is.

temperatures closing in on 50 for most locations. arctic air hanging in the wings out to the west. monday that low pushes on by to the northeast. right now the forecasterring -- forecast modeling keeps it offshore, it will brush us with rain snow showers. arctic front gets in here late in the day on tuesday this low will transfer its energy to another storm off the delmarva this will get better organized tuesday morning and tuesday afternoon. this is as far out as this particular model goes, you can see the moisture starting to get pulled back into the cold air off the atlantic. this is a moderate snow being depicted on this model for washington d.c., baltimore and south of philadelphia which will spin and pull to the north. the question is how much moisture gets involved and how long does it actually snow. this is the thinking at this point right now.

monday night into tuesday, we are not forecasting a major storm. there could be light to moderate snowfall accumulations with this but it does not appear to be a major storm at this point because it will be disorganized. there could travel delays, temperatures on tuesday will hover in the low 30s we're below freezing, so most of the roads will be wet. 46 in philadelphia. 43 in reading. allentown, 42. sun and clouds, we'll call it nice for the ginning of february. millville, 45. overnight tonight, cold, but not as cold as this morning. reading you were down to 19. 2-6r -- 26 tomorrow morning. partly cloudy and cold. tomorrow is beautiful, a lot of sunshine 50 degrees, very mild mostly cloudy for monday, 43. period of light snow at this point for tuesday 40 degrees,

breaking news, a cab driver is hospitalized in critical condition after being shot on a philadelphia street this morning. a huge crane crashes back to the ground in new york. now, city leaders in philadelphia are looking to avoid a similar tragedy here. the stage is set a big debate tonight between the contenders of the republican presidential nomination. let's go outside to meteorologist chris sowers. >> reporter: it's cold out here, the temperatures on the backside of the storm that produced the snow yesterday have dropped off. this is a 24 hour temperature change we're 15 degrees colder in areas. millville, 11. atlantic city, 1. trenton, 11. wildwood 12. beach haven 13 degrees colder.

boring weekend. we have more accuweather to come in the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast in the form of snow for tuesday, we'll have details on that coming up when i see you again in just a bit. gray? 7:32. i meant to get you caught up on the breaking news hang in south philadelphia. a taxi driver has been shot. police this morning are looking for the gunman. the cab crashed into a parked car on the 2300 block of morris street in point breeze. the driver is in critical, but stable condition at penn presbyterian hospital. police say the gunman may have may have been a passenger inside the taxi. again a cabbie has been shot in south philadelphia. we have breaking news coming in from tampa florida. 8 people were shot at a strip club. we know this morning one person is dead. investigator have not said if the shooter is under arrest. detectives are looking into the

possibility that have disagreement at the club may have prompted the shooting. the count down is on for tonight's debate among the republican presidential candidates in new hampshire. it comes days before voters cast their ballots in the state primary. kenneth moten joins us right now in manchester, new hampshire with more on what to expect on tonight's debate. i'm sure the gloves will be coming off. >> reporter: my gloves will stay on gray, because it's cold on this beautiful campus here in manchester. this is the first gop debate since ted cruz was accused of stealing votes the night of the iowa caucuses. leading in the polls democrat bernie sanders and republican donald trump. it's the final push for support in new hampshire. i don't want anything just your vote. >> reporter: but donald trump was kept out of the granite state due to bad weather bitter about his loss to ted cruz in

events today while 89 top contenders are preparing for the abc debate. kenneth moten channel 6 "action news." monica malpass is covering the new hampshire primary you can watch forelive reports tomorrow night. it is 7:35. the focus is switching to what caused a massive crane to collapse on the street. one person died. that crane was 565 feet in the process of being secured during high winds when it crashed to the ground. 38-year-old a wall street worker was walking on the sidewalk at the time he was hit and killed. the accident now calls into question the safety of cranes in philadelphia. "action news" reporter, jeff chirico has more. >> reporter: philadelphians were a little more cautious walking through center city last night after seeing the video of a towering crane crashing on the streets of manhattan.

did you realize you walked under one. no, i didn't. i look up at this a lot. i never thought about a crane falling. >> reporter: cranes have become part of the skyline at the corner ever 19th and arch three are there to build the new comcast building. others are attached to spouting towers across the city leaving to question their safety. l&i said the collapse has the of their agency which regularly inspects cranes that are attached to buildings. they have no oversight of mobile cranes like the one in new york. she said mayor kenny has expressed interest in having the city supervise mobile cranes, too. we need to pay attention to the investigation that has started and see what lessons we

can take from that. >> reporter: meanwhile pedestrians say they can be more aware of the potential dangers overhead. trucks and mobile cranes are inspected by osha, a federal agency. the administration said local supervision would add another layer of protection. jeff chirico channel 6 "action news." firefighters are trying to figure out what caused a one alarm fire in a three story home. it took a half-hour to get the fire under control on mccormick avenue in ridley township. nobody was hurt, the fire started in the back of a home. flames poured out of a montgomery home and sent everyone. ♪♪ scrambling for safety. 12-year-old died when he ran. the home to save his dad. a 77-year-old woman was

killed when a tree fell into her home in delaware county. margie cooper was asleep when the tree fell yesterday in broomall. it is believed that the couple was trapped for hours. when police got the call it was too late to save her life. her husband is recovering in the hospital. prosecutors want an appeals court to reverse it's decision dismissing charges against three penn state administrators accused of covering up sex abuse complaints against jerry sandusky. a three judge panel threw out serious charges against the three after ruling that the grand jury testimony violated their rights. the three face charges including failure to report sexual child

ray abuse. kathleen kane's law license will remain suspended the state court declined to reinstate the license. it could follow with an unprecedented senate vote to take her from office. borgata casino will stop paying tax and has the backing of a judge. new jersey courts ruled that atlantic city owes borgata $62.5 million. atlantic city said the original debt may force it into bankruptcy and the new move will cripple the city's finances. still ahead on "action news" saturday morning how an ancient form of therapy is being used to help breast cancer

this weekend we're see good conditions until the middle of february. double scan live, crystal clear nothing out there, other than high, thin clouds pushing along the skyline. 29 in philadelphia. dewpoint, 22. just the slightest breeze out of the west/southwest at 5 miles per hour. that's giving us a windchill of 24. 22 in trenton. 20 in the poconos. reading, 23. wilmington, 24. dover, 28. it's obviously cold out there but the fact that we don't have much of a breeze is the saving grace. there's no harsh windchill to deal with. here's a look at the high clouds pushing in from the west. won't pose much of a threat for our weather over the next couple of days. we are watching this right hear, an upper level disturbance. it will run the gulf coast states and reform off the coast of the carolinas. it takes the storm up the eastern seaboard and far enough out to sea where we will miss

out on it. new england could get slammed. for us, we're looking at cloud cover brushing the coast. here's another look at it on the water vapor image. it's a small system, once it hits the coast it develops a surface storm. it will get cold again don't think because we've been in the 50s and 40s that winter is over. we have cold air that will start driving into the lower 48. it's 30 below on the shores of the hudson bay. some of this cold air will dig across the high plains over the next few days, most next week looks pretty cold. future tracker 6 combustion ever sun and clouds -- combination of sun and clouds, nice and quiet. more in the way of sun temperatures near 50 degrees. monday things turn interesting. we'll see a coastal storm off the delmarva, maybe the virginia

capes. it will throw moisture back into the delaware valley. monday into tuesday a period of snow develops. when you get the darker colors that's steady to moderate snow. this model has moderate snow for baltimore and washington, d.c. and mason dixon line, wilmington moderate snow same thing for philadelphia and western suburbs that will track to the northeast during the course of the day. right now what we are expecting with the event. it does not look like a major storm, but there will be impacts here. saturday, sunday monday, look fine. tuesday there could travel delays as the light snow starts to develop and wednesday things begin to clear. forecasted totals we're saying light to moderate. not a big event but enough to create problems tuesday. sun and clouds, today seasonable. 46 degrees, a light breeze out of the southwest. partly cloudy and cold overnight tonight. 25 degrees outlying suburbs, 30 for center city. the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast, how about 50
