point breeze section of philadelphia him come outside and find a cab driver shot. shots are fired at a florida club leaving one person dead and seven injuries. students speak out about hazing at a chester county high school. those stories, and more, but first the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast with meteorologist chris sowers. it's a cold start to the morning. >> reporter: it's very quiet, which is good news on the weekend. as we look outside, the center city skyline, it's cold and quiet, high, thin clouds are rolling in. the numbers are below freezing in a number of locations and we have slick spots out there. look out for patchy black ice and frozen slush across areas that saw the snow yesterday. cape may, atlantic, southeastern burlington and ocean counties. slick spots here and well to the north across the lehigh valley where they have snow on the ground from the blizzard that developed a few weeks ago.

temperatures above freezing, we'll get sunshine throughout the day. the temperatures get in the mid 40s. 32 degrees, sunshine and clouds. 11:00, 36 degrees and 1:00 p.m., 40 degrees, 3:00 p.m., 45. and high of 46. that all changes monday night into tuesday of next week. a storm system develops off the coast that could bring snow to the area. i'll talk about that in just a bit. a cab driver shot in philadelphia's point breeze section. this morning police are searching for the shooter. neighbors on the 2300 block of morris street heard a crash around 4:00 a.m. they came running outside and found the taxi stopped in the middle of the street after hitting a parked car. crews rushed him to penn

presbyterian where's listed in critical, but stable condition. police have no suspects. they think the shooter was a passenger in the cab stay with "action news" and 6abc.com for updates on this developing story. also developing this morning at 9:00 a.m., police in tampa, florida are working the scene of a fatal strip club shooting. 8 people were shot at the club. one victim died. so far no word about an arrest or motive. investigators are questioning witnesses right now. authorities are investigating allegations ever hazing at a chester county high school. dann cuellar spoke to students. he has the latest. we heard it was football hazing. >> reporter: word has been spreading fast around conostoga high school since detectives began snooping around asking question this week about alleged hazing in the football program. we heard seniors doing not so cool things to freshman.

>> reporter: contogether e -- conostoga high has a good football program but it has been clouded by hazing. sources say they are going back two years to learn how far back the alleged hazing goes. much of it is said to be your average hazing idiotcy, one incident may make people uncomfortable and one victim may have been injured. authorities say there's a ritual theme built hazing and already there are signs of a culture school officials may have to deal with. one student who knows the boys involved said they are good guys. the thing with the football they are boys in a locker room, stupid things are going to happen, but nothing to the degree that's going around. >> reporter: i'm dann cuellar channel 6 "action news." your time 9:03. a temple university security

guard is recovering this morning after someone crashed into his suv and took off. the accident happened after 9:00 p.m. near 13th and burkes street in north philadelphia. the guard was sitting in his suv near police headquarters when the vehicle was hit. the other driver left the scene, but found a few blocks away. the guard has back and neck injuries. happening in our newsroom in new jersey, police in camden county searching for leads after a shooting. chopper 6 hd was this scene around 7:30 on the 100 block of burnt mill road in voorhees. the victim was a man and was rushed to the hospital. no word on his condition. no word on a motive. a tragic scene in delaware county twra tree fell into a -- where where a tree fell into a home killing a 77-year-old woman. the couple were sleeping when

the tree toppled on the home in broomall. the couple may have been trapped for up to two hours before neighbors heard cries for help. cooper was found in her bed under a large amount of debris. she died at the scene. rescuers saved her husband who is recovering in the hospital. now to the latest on the fatal crane collapse in new york city. the focus is shifting to what caused the crane to fall on the street. the crane extended 565 feet and in the process of being secured during high winds when it crashed to the ground as you see there. 38-year-old a wall street worker was walking on the sidewalk at the time. he was hit and killed. three others were hurt. the accident calls into question the safety of cranes in philadelphia. jeff chirico has the latest. >> reporter: philadelphians were a little more cautious walking through center city last night after seeing the video of a

towering crane crashing down on the streets of manhattan. did you realize you just walked under one. no, i didn't. i look up a lot, but i never thought about a crane falling. >> reporter: cranes have become part of the center city skyline. there are three up building the comcast buildings others are attached to spouting towers across the city. it raises the question that we can and should be doing. karen of l&i said the collapse has the attention of her agency that regularly snns -- inspects cranes attached to buildings. they have no oversight over the mobile cranes, mayor kenny has expressed interest in

supervising mobile cranes, too. meanwhile, pedestrians say they will be more aware of potential dangers overhead. to be clear the truck or mobile trains are smpped -- inspected by osha a federal agency. local supervision would add another layer of protection. jeff chirico channel 6 "action news." tonight the republican presidential candidates face off in new hampshire. you can see it live on 6abc at 8:00 p.m. donald trump is favored on the gop side in new hampshire, but marco rubio is making a late charge. rubio and trump were runners up in iowa behind ted cruz. kenneth moten will have a live report from new hampshire coming up in the next half-hour. pennsylvania senator bob casey junior is heading to new hampshire to campaign for hillary clinton trailing bernie sanders in new hampshire.

cerebral palsy. his friend got him a wheelchair so he could feel like a kid again. looks like we'll be dodging a couple of bullets. there's the possibility of snow tuesday, but the storms that are getting so big over the next five to seven days they appear as if they will stay off the coast far enough where we get brushed that's about it. that's good news there if you're not a snow lover. meantime, let's get you outside, this is a beautiful shot of the commodor barry bridge. you can see the high, thin cirrus clouds overspread the area live in chester. 35 degrees in philadelphia a light breeze out of the southwest. double scan is crystal clear at this point. we're showing a dewpoint of 23. it's a chilly morning out there, but here's the saving grace. the wind speed is very, very light. we don't have too much of a windchill to deal with. 33 degrees is the temperature. that's the windchill. 26 in the poconos.

38 in reading. millville, 32. wilmington, 31. dover, 31. again the wind speeds are hovering close to zero, so you don't have to worry about a windchill. but with temperatures as cold as they are, you need to bundle up. satellite and radar high, thin clouds overspreading the keystone state. snowshowers up to the north across new york state and lake on lake ontario, that stays to the north. the frontal system we're watching is pushing across the high plains states. a good shot of cold air on the backside of the this front. it will plow through the high plains and the great lake states during the week. by the time we get into monday an tuesday all the energy from this system here will develop a coastal storm here. that's the system we have to watch as we get into monday and tuesday. in the meantime this storm on sunday should pull out to sea and miss us to the east with a heavy snow event for long island

and portions of knew england. monday night into tuesday, that's going to be a close call. future tracker 6 combination of sun and clouds, nice and quiet. overnight tonight, partly cloudy, quiet and cold, temperatures in the 20es -- 20s and 30s. sunday, high, thin clouds, temperatures up to 50 degrees. monday night into tuesday, here's where the moisture gets thrown back into the delaware valley off the atlantic with the secondary coastline system developing off the virginia capes. you can see the light snow developing hear. when we get into the darker shade of lavender in baltimore and washington, d.c. that's moderate snow. we'll see a light snow event tuesday with the possibility of it becoming more moderate. we'll have to watch the modeling over the next few days. one thing we know, we are leaning toward the fact this is not going to be a major storm.

weekend overall, but it's chilly. we got down into the 20s, millville, 20. philadelphia, 2. now, with the sun rising the temperatures are starting to rebound a little bit, but it's fairly chilly out here. pilots, 29 degrees. quaker -- pottstown, 29 glassboro, 350. vineland, 30 degrees, woodbine 34. hammonton, 34 degrees. at light and radar, we're going to see a lot of sunshine mixed with high, thin clouds, it stays nice and quiet. we're not forecasting any precipitation, sun and clouds, milder day 46 degrees. it gets better as we head into sunday with high temperatures closing in on 50. now, here's what we're watching. as we get into monday knight into tuesday, this is the snow impact scale.

not rehired after an interview process requested him to read flash cards. he said he was bullied by other employees. some kids make fun of me at the park i usually tell on them. dorney said it respects its associates and prohibits harassment and discrimination against them. family members and friends are mourning the loss of a 12-year-old boy who tried to save his father from a fire in montgomery county. the fire started on the 1,000 block of markley street in norristown. relatives say he made it out, but rushed back inside in an attempt to save his dad. his father jumped out of a second floor window. the boy did not survive. chad perdelli spoke with firefighters who stress the importance of having an escape plan. >> reporter: philadelphia fire

commissioner said chaos during a fire is why families need an escape plan and meeting point. the plan can be as simple as this one, two routes to escape, number one uses a door, the second a window. the meeting place is a tree. it can be in the front of the house, or the rear of the house. >> reporter: the meeting point allows initial responders to know if someone is trapped. the key, families must practice the escape plan. it's important because in the heat of the battle you talk about the chaos, if you have not practiced it you will not do what you planned to do. >> reporter: more than two dozen people were displaced by the fire. four for the long term, the red cross is helping out. chad perdelli channel 6 "action news." our thoughts and prayers to the family. prosecutors want the a

appeals court to reverse its decision against three former penn state administrators. they will ask the super court to overturned the decision. a three judge panel threw out several serious charges against the three after ruling that grand jury testimony violated their rights. the three face charges including fairly to report suspected child abuse. chicago police are talking about 6 people found dead inside a home. the victims', the couple, children and grandchildren were targeted. one victim was shot and others were beaten and stabbed. investigators say this could be a murder suicide. there was no sign of forced entry and the home was not loan sacked. so-called "affluenza" teen ethan couch was transferred from

is searching for any signs of life after two small planes collided in midair in california. this happened yesterday afternoon over the ocean near the port of los angeles. three people believed to be on board the two planes. investigators say both pilots were experienced. the number of dead is increasing after a magnitude 6.4 earthquake struck in taiwan. 14 people are dead including an infant and small child. the quake caused a residential highrise to collapse. rescuers have pulled 3 40e people from the -- 340 people from the rubble.

others are missing. time for the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast, meteorologist chris sowers, cold, but no wind. >> reporter: we have a quiet weekend overall and mild. somewhat chilly this morning, but temperatures climb well above seasonal averages and some areas could top 350 degrees by tomorrow. it's looks like a nice weekend. there's the shot in cape may, the high, thin cirrus clouds overspreading the skyline. those are the clouds that make for beautiful sunrises and sunsets. you will see the bright oranges and yellows light up the sky. double scan live there's a nice view, 46 degrees there's the high temperature. which is a little bit higher than average of the normal is 42. the low is on par. sun sets at 5:26. days are getting longer and longer. 28 in allentown after a morning low 20.

36 in wildwood, 31 for wilmington and dover. satellite and radar, high, thin cirrus clouds across the keystone state they will overspread the area this afternoon. as we go wider there's clearly not much going on. the on him only system we're watching is that upper level disturbance that will travel along the gulf coast states today and hit the coast tomorrow that will develop into an coastal storm running up the eastern seaboard. some of the latest information coming in now pushes it closer to the coastline. i'll show you that in a second. we have colder air that will get involved in the overall pattern. 32 degrees below zero on the shores of the had you hudson ba. this will dive into the great lakes states first and travel south and east next week. it will modify, but it's a good

shot of cold air by the time we get into wednesday and thursday. so here's future tracker 6. there's the coastal storm. sunday's event state for the most part out to sea. sunday night into monday, all of a sudden it's throwing back light snow. similar to what we saw yesterday morning as that coastal system brushed us. we could have snow showers sunday night into monday morning. that's not the storm we're watching. we're watching an upper level feature that will transfer its energy to the coastal storm off the virginia capes. this is tuesday morning. the question is will the storm travel up or head out. that will determine how much snow we see from the system. right now the latest forecast guidance shows there's one forecast model out there that's bullish on the accumulating snow idea that's the american model it shows 4 inches. the other models show one to two inches of snowfall on grassy

>> reporter: waitress katherine walsh has arrived at apple bees without fanfare. her co-workers wanted to celebrate a milestone in life her 90th birthday. it's fantastic. it's fabulous. all these people would come out for my birthday. a great grandmother and widow of 8 children she is known as miss katherine, the oldest of the 40,000 employees and four times orderly than some of her co-workers. they love her, a lot of people wish she was her grandmother. she's sweet and does her job and works very, very hard. >> reporter: at age 90 she said she works five days a week, because she has to, and because she wants to. i'm part of life and out

millions of people are expected to check out the cool winters creations. look at this, they are part of the 67th snow festival in japan. it features 200 snow and ice sculptures. it all began back in 1950 when 6 high school students built snow statues in a park. >> reporter: another reason why we need snow around here. keep it there. >> reporter: here's the weekend call from accuweather, 46 degrees sun and clouds, nice mild afternoon. speaking of mild, how does 50 sound in super bowl sunday, 50 degrees. beautiful weekend overall for the beginning of february. 44 degrees monday. 40 tuesday and wednesday with a period of snow possible tuesday, arctic cold arrives thursday and
