last into wednesday. the brining has already begun as a winter storm warning is being issued for philadelphia and the heart of the delaware valley. the jersey shore is already dealing with street flooding because of stormy weather this morning. not to mention some tidal flooding. "action news" reporter walter perez will have the story of storm preps in a moment but first meteorologist cecily tynan has latest information if accuweather and there's a lot to talk about. cecily. >> there certainly is, jim. double scan live showing kind of a chaotic situation to the left. we have a very disorganized storm system, some rain and snow showers as close to baltimore, extending to the midwest and this is coming in pieces. there's one low pressure that's west of buffalo. there's another one forming over virginia. that will move off the eastern seaboard and then these two kind of link up in the upper atmosphere. it's called an inverted trough and what that can do is focus some steadier snow really around philadelphia and areas to the south.

so that winter storm warning goes into effect really the pennsylvania turnpike and areas south midnight tonight until 6 o'clock wednesday morning. areas to the north under an advisory because you're not going to get so much snow up there. so, it doesn't mean we're look, at solid snow he then tire time period but we are going to get periods of snow showers and they will be moving in between about 9:00 and midnight tonight. future tracker showing around 10:30 some light snow showers. tomorrow morning i don't think there's going to be a lot going on during the morning rush and even some mixing into the afternoon south of philadelphia but tomorrow night is when really the main event happens. so, this is what to expect. on and off light snow tonight really through the day tomorrow. very slow he to accumulate especially on the treated roads, mainly wet. the key concern, though, will be late tomorrow afternoon and tomorrow night. this is when we will see the bulk of the accumulation. i'll talk more about that. also talk about the coastal concerns coming up in the full accuweather forecast. jim. >> thank you, cecily. let's go live to "action

news" reporter walter perez who is at the penndot yard in norristown and walter, this could be a long haul for the folks there. >> reporter: that it could be, jim, no doubt about it. as i take a live look at the great salt mountain at the penndot yard in norristown, penndot's concern is that this storm is expected to stretch through tomorrow morning and evening commutes. still come what may, they are ready. 16 penndot trucks have already spent the day spreading anti-icing agents on roads across the region and more than 280 plows are at the ready for when the snow starts to accumulate. >> all our salt is in place. we have 106 tons of salt for the storm and we're ready to roll. >> reporter: penndot officials officials say their plow fleet will be ready to go starting midnight then fully expect to remain on the roads through the tuesday evening commute. >> as we move in, tomorrow should not be too bad but as we move into tomorrow evening you could see things starting to freeze up as temperatures drop. >> reporter: we spoke with folks here in norristown who say the snow is okay as long

as we don't have a repeat of last month's blizzard. >> that last storm hurt us here in norristown. i mean, we struggled for a couple days to get out of it. i don't know if the municipality could handle it or not but they were struggling. >> reporter: all right, back out live once again penndot has more than 280 plows ready to go with a total of 450 trucks available if this storm takes an unexpected turn for the worst. reporting live from norristown, walter perez, channel6 "action news." jim. >> thank you, walter. of course "action news" will get an early starter tomorrow morning to help you with the snowy commute. please join matt o'donnell, tamala edwards, dave murphy and karen rogers for the latest on the forecast and traffic conditions. we will start early at 4:00 a.m. philadelphia police continue to probe a violent confrontation inside a club in olde city over the weekend. and reports say former eagle lesean mccoy was right in the middle of it.

"action news" reporter sarah bloomquist is lie out by the club which is called recess on south second street. sarah what do you know about this and is there a possibility mccoy could be in real trouble? >> reporter: jim, our sources say, yes, that lesean mccoy could be in serious trouble here. they're saying this was more than just a bar fight. they're investigating what happened here inside this club as an aggravated assault. two off duty officers were badly injured and witnesses are telling police lesean mccoy was right in the middle of it. this 102nd video clip sent to "action news" by a twitter follower shows the melee inside club recess at 125 south seconds street around 2:45 sunday morning. multiple sources tell us former eagles running back lesean mccoy was right there in the mix. he had been at the club with three friends one a former nfl player himself. prior to the fight three off duty officers one a sergeant were also enjoying a night at

the club. they ordered bottles of champagne. sources say one of mccoy's friends grabbed a bottle and that's when the pushing and shoving and arguing began. >> something along those lines as to who it belonged to or who it was supposed to be delivered to. again, you know, something that just makes no sense. again it's over a bottle of champagne. if it's that big of an issue go buy another bottle. >> reporter: police say mccoy and his friends didn't back down and brutally beat one of the officers and then another. >> four on one from what i'm told in terms of punching him knocking him to the ground. once he's other ground they begin to beat him and stomp him kick him. again just something that absolutely should not take place. >> reporter: police say that officer suffered a broken nose, broken rib and eye laceration an sprained. that the other officer sustained cut above the eye as well as some skull fractures. the sergeant was not injured. police say the assault ended when club security intervened and ejected all seven men. a camera on the street captured that but not what happened inside.

police have no record of a 911 call. officers never responded. the injured officers filed a report after they ben went to hospitals for treatment. the buffalo bills said we are aware of the reports regarding lesean mccoy and are in the process of gathering more information. we he will not provide any further comment at this time. now, mccoy's agent, drew rosenhaus, also said he would not be commenting at this time. we know that representatives for mccoy were calling around today trying to get a defense attorney. mccoy is expected to be questioned at some point. has not happened yet. live in olde city, i'm sarah bloomquist channel6 "action news. jim. >> sarah thank you. developing news from temple university tonight. the board of trustees voted late this afternoon to move forward with balancing stadium on the north philadelphia campus. today the board approved a 1 million-dollar feasibility study for the project. students opposed to the

$100 million stadium protested outside the meeting today. >> ♪ this is the eve of the the new hampshire primary. candidates are engaged in furious last minute campaigning. live in manchester new hampshire is monica malpass and monica, how goes the campaign wars? >> reporter: well, jim, it's going pretty well. 11 candidates from two different parties as you know are running across this state hoping to win at the last minute and the latest u mass poll has following statistics. bernie sanders at a 56 to 40 percent lead over hillary clinton and donald trump still has a sizable lead over the republican field at 34 percent but believe it or not even tonight at the latest hour a third of the voters here are still undecided so for new jersey governor chris christie who is sixth in that poll tonight, sixth out of nine, he is hoping to do well but this is a make or break point in his bid for the white house. >> we're undecided both of us so we thought it would be a

>> word came down this afternoon katherine knott will spend five to 10 months in jail for her role in the attack on a gay couple in center city philadelphia. knott was taken into custody immediately following

sentencing this afternoon. knott was convicted on simple assault and reckless endangerment charges for the attack in september of 2014. two of knott's co-defendants are on probation after pleading guilty. former philadelphia police commissioner charles ramsey attended wilmington city council meeting this afternoon. it is his first public hearing in his new role as public safety consultant for that city's police department. council met today to review 13 recommendations by the state crime commission to curb violence in wilmington. also today came word that ramsey will lead a team investigating the university of cincinnati's police department after a deadly shooting there. former university of pennsylvania professor convicted of murdering his wife is making another appeal to get out of prison. ray field rob has a parole hearing tomorrow. he was serving a five to 10 year sentence for the beating death of ellen robb at their

upper merion home in 2006. today montgomery county district attorney cold front ring steel joined the victim's family to ask that robb serve his full term sentence. >> ellen is serving a lifetime sentence in her grave and this man must fulfill his entire sentence of what is a ridiculously minimal plea bargained sentence of only 10 years. >> the d.a.'s office notified the parole board to its objection to robb's early release. his sentence expires next year.

>> he was once a flash point of enormous controversy. now he's gone. >> he's gone and he wasn't very productive on the field last season. reshaping of the roster chip kelly left behind continues. the eagles have released wide receiver riley cooper. aside from one big season cooper was ineffective on the field and in 2013 a distraction offer it. cooper spent six seasons here.

his big year it was in 2013 when he caught 47 balls and scored eight touchdowns. that aren't him a five year 22 and a half million dollars contract. last season just 21 receptions and only two touchdowns. of course in the summer of 2013 right before training camp cooper was caught on video yelling racial slurs at a security guard during a country music concert at the linc. as we have been reporting all afternoon sources tell "action news" that former eagles running back lesean mccoy is being investigated after two off duty philadelphia police officers were assaulted. the incident occurred here at recess lounge an after hours club in olde city early sunday morning. video sent in by an "action news" viewer appears to show the aftermath. police say the officers were taken to the hospital with injuries ranging from broken ribs to some skull fractures. police have questioned mccoy and they have not -- excuse me they have not questioned mccoy yet but that is expected to happen at some point. i reached out to his agent drew rosenhaus he says "no comment right now."

villanova basketball has reached the highest honor in season honor. cats ranked number one in the nation for the first time in school history. jaime apody is lie on campus with more on the new number one. jamie. >> reporter: ducis, isn't it crazy, this has never happened before. villanova very quietly at 20 and three making history. check it out inside the pavilion more practice wrapped up just a short time ago. so what happened is the number one team and number two teams both lost over the weekend. nova beat providence so now they are the top team in the nation. wildcats take on depaul tomorrow night. i caught were you i was very proud jay wright a shorter time ago. what does it mean to have this number one ranking for the first time in school history? >> it's a great honor, it really is and we are appreciate tiff of the coaches that voted and the sports fans thawriters that voted. now we have a challenge.

>> going to be slow getting started but we'll have a day and a half of winter storm warning. >> exact. on and off snow showers. accumulating snow, the heaviest looks to be south of philadelphia. south and west. so... and then the coldest air mass of the season. will the going on this week. -- lot going on this week. we have pretty quiet conditions. there's a bands of some snow in western lancaster county, really through the baltimore area and as the temperatures drop, the moisture will be

arriving in the form of snow showers tonight. temperatures right now above freezing, though. 32 indegrees in philadelphia, down from a high of 44. don't get used to that. temperatures really dropping as we head through the week. allentown 38. atlantic city airport 35. wilmington 40 and reading 39 degrees. satellite6 along with action radar slowing this is the big coastal storm. this is the storm that brushed monmouth county with a little bit of snow. caused the coastal flooding at the shore. brought snow to new england. this storm system is moving away really compact, really organized. what i'm waiting for to arrive is this mess, a very disorganized storm system and you can see really not a solid area of precipitation but snow showers that will be arriving later on tonight. future tracker showing around 10 o'clock, this is when we'll be seeing some snow showers especially around philadelphia and areas to the south. overnight not a lot going on for the morning commute. i think there will be some slick spots but not a lot of snow for the morning commute at 7 o'clock, even a bit of

mixing down the shore. as we head through the day we'll get a few periods of snow showers but the main event waits until late toll afternoon and tomorrow night. around 2 o'clock you'll see some of that steadier snow around lancaster and moving in tomorrow night so i really think the wednesday morning commute will be a bigger issue than the tuesday morning commute. by 11:30 it's out of here with just a few lingering snow showers. association what are we expecting as far as snowfall? it all depends on where the inverted trough sets up. this is kind of linking two low pressures and this is what can provide the biggest lift and the most moisture and it looks like it will be just south of the pennsylvania presidential candidatey turnpike into new jersey. when saul said and done looking at three to 6 inches of snow. less to the north, one to 3 inches. cape may county and kent county with some of that mixing looking at less one to 3 inches. it will be accumulating very slowly from tonight until dawn we're looking at about a half inch to an inch. tuesday morning into the afternoon about a half inch to an inch but that steadier snow

tuesday night into very early wednesday morning. that's when we'll expect about two to 3 inches of snow. so we're getting it kind of in drips and drabs. the coastal flood warning continues until noon on tuesday. we have two more tide cycles for moderate tidal flooding between 7:00 an::tonight. 7:30 and 8:30 with that persist tender on-shore flow and that will cause flooding in the delaware bay and even some flooding for the delaware river. so the exclusive accuweather 7-day forecast, tomorrow we are highlighting with periods of on and off snow, 37 degrees the high so a lot of that will be melting on roads during the day. we get the accumulation at night. wednesday winds of change. they begin to pick up, 39 degrees and look at what happens for the temperatures. thursday and friday 29 degrees and then an arctic front moves through friday night with a round of snow showers. behind this we have the coldest air mass since last winter. we're looking at the high on saturday only 24 degrees with a few morning snow showers.
