and detectives are waiting to question former eagles' player lesean mccoy after a nightclub incident. and there are storms just enough to leave us with wet roads and coastal flooding is expected at the jersey shore. david murphy is tracking the latest from the "action news" big board. >> reporter: we have areas of this pushing into south philadelphia and areas in delaware county picking up light snow and this area in light is steadier snow in berks and lancaster county and newcastle county some decent snow falling and salem county new jersey as well. and furnish south to dover and cape may you see the change over to rain. and later on it's possible we

exchange that for snow. we look at more snow to the north and west. not a lot has fallen so far. these are the latest numbers from snow spotters and most of them date back several hours ago. in philadelphia other a third inch on the ground. newcast newcastle, delaware .6 inch and fleet wood is one of the spots that had an inch, and lots of areas in berks and western chester and in salem piled up an inch and springfield, only .3 inch. as we take a look at what to expect the rest of the way, they are still calling for a few more informations from here on out in the euro and less on other models. there are cells coming in where it can bump up the numbers.

maybe another couple inches in spots. in terms of the timing from now until 4:00, we see the snow showers to the south and west start to overtake the region, again it won't be snowing anywhere. and it's not coming down real heavy but snow showers are possible in the afternoon and evening and then the bulk of this lifts to the north. and by midnight or so we expect the majority of the snow to be over with a couple of snow showers and flurries in the overnight hours into tomorrow morning. we have a winter weather advisory in effect with a total of 2 to 4 inches expected when it is all said and done. and the weather service has a warning in effect in lancaster, chester county, where you see the heavier snow falling. and delaware county where you could wind up with a heavier cell. might go 4 inches or higher. we'll look at temperatures in a little bit.

some areas hover around the freezing mark and that is where you have to be careful on roads. but most roads are maintaining wet conditions. speaking of roads lets take a live look at mobile 6 driving through paoli right now. the snow has not yet fallen and the switchover not taken place. but david murphy says give it time and crews were abe to treat the roads in the region. lets switch now to our "action news" reporter walter perez live in montgomery county, standing by in king of prussia with the latest on the situation there. walter? >> reporter: as david mentioned. the traveling conditions here in king of prussia are really good, a coating of snow in this area overnight. between the brine and the relatively warm conditions, they combined to keep the pavement at

a warm enough temperature where there was not much freezing in the area. now we wait to see what is next. we emerged from the morning commute unscathed for the most part and now penndot is looking at the evening rush. >> we are not sure because the forecast is all over the place. we are prepared for 3 to 6, trucks in place and trucks on stand by and we can call in to deal with. >> reporter: driving conditions are not bad for much of the day and that goes to road crews this were brining most of the day yesterday. >> we are on the border line of freezing so we are actively salting hills and bridges and intersections to be safe because we are so close to the freezing point. >> reporter: meanwhile, we spoke to commuters most of whom say they are just fine if it doesn't snow at all.

that goes for paul in upper merion. >> i broke my back a couple of months ago and i had that repaired but i can't do any lifting or anything. >> reporter: are you glad there is no snow to shovel? >> that is exactly right. >> reporter: now penndot has 300 plows and 100 tons of rock salt at the ready. and the big concern continues to be the commute tonight and refreezing over and into tomorrow morning. live in king of prussia, walter perez, channel 6 "action news." >> thank you. the philadelphia mayor's office is reversing course, the streets department will offer trash and recycling collection today. they will offer it after all. crews were shifted to regular service because they were not needed for salting and plowing today and more concern is flooding along the coast, people at the jersey shore said the water came up quickly during high tide this morning.

katherine scott spent time in cape may county and filed this report. >> reporter: here in ventnor the water levels rose and they had problems around town. on this corner it's completely covered with water and water say problem across the coast today. >> maureen mccormick had just gone out to get the paper and is seemed like someone turned on a tap. she watched as water rose near hire ocean city home. >> it's up on the lawn and on to the bricks here within 10 minutes. >> we moved everything out of our shed, we moved the cars -- >> and it stretched across bay avenue at 6th, some pressed through and others decided to rethink their route. as high tide approached the flooding kept closer and close toward nearby homes. >> we have the high tide and

it's pushing the water in from the ocean and it's just rising much quicker than normal because of the storm. >> reporter: over in ventnor, the floodwaters can be seen at every angle at ventnor plaza. >> it looks worse than sandy. >> reporter: she says the nearby crossing guard had a tough job helping kids to school safely. >> she had to stand in the middle of the street and tell the children which way to go to get to a dry area. >> reporter: in longport floodwaters bubbled up into the roads and residents say this area is prone to flooding and they are used to taking pro cautions. >> all of our cars are parked on that street and we parked them there two days ago. >> they saw flooding yesterday and seeing it again today and expected to see even more

continue at hurricane katrina and she is also posting real time updates on her facebook and twitter pages. in other news, pennsylvania governor, tom wolf, finished addressing lawmakers at the capital this morning and warned that the state finances are in crisis and facing a $2 billion deficit. that plan has met resistance from republican lawmakers, they are opposed to a $1 billion tax increase in the budget. and now assault involving former eagles player, lesean mccoy. mccoy at the recess lounge allegedly assaulted three off-duty police officers in an argument over champagne and three of the officers were injured. mccoy is expected to be questioned at some point. we are working to determine when this might happen.

a deadly hit reasonion is under investigation here in chester. police say that a pedestrian was struck and killed at west ninth and hayes street. the police are looking to put together a description of the suspect's car. coming up a former teacher is facing child pornography charges after leaving a chester high school. and a cruise ship caught in a powerful storm is still trying to make its way to shore. more on the damaged ship coming up.

david here with a check of the accuweather forecast. some light snow in spots. that is the perfect way to describe it. it's coming down steadier in the western suburbs, stormtracker 6 live double scan shows that to you that rain in much of the south jersey right now. if we go in tighter, some of the snow falling in wilmington, delaware and points to the south in parts of salem county, that is steady snow highlighted in

brighter shades of white and lavender and in coatesville and lancaster county. it's kind of fall ago part now as it trying to get into media and the darker shades of gray is not heavy snow and nothing that will impact roads. as we go out wider to the north and west if you get underneath the heavier bands, you'll want to slow it down on the roads, if it's heavier enough it could compromise none treated surfaces. anything that is treated has been able to handle the snow. again there is that wet stuff to the south. we had the action cam out earlier in fairmount park, we got a .3 inch of snow at the airport close to this picture. we have not seen much on the grass because the temperatures are up above freezing and the coating has melted and there is

the possibility of more to come this afternoon. we are starting to see the number pop up above freeze that will help any attempt by the snow to freeze up the roads, on treated surfaces we are okay. it's 29 degrees and you'll need a coat from you headed out. if some snow were to work its way back up in here you'll have a chance on the secondary roads. the farther south you go the warmer it gets and the warmer for the snow to do anything. you can see how future tracker is suggesting more snow shower activity and notice how the temperatures do climb and we are well enough above freezing but after dinner time you can see the numbers getting back down to the freezing mark and this is the time period. 7:00, 8:00, 9:00, i would be concerned about slippery road

conditions especially if we get a heavier cell popping in. later at midnight the latest runs show the snow is off to the north and overnight we get miles per hours that could pop up in the morning and the morning commute if we see any of that. you would be worried because the temperatures are down below freezing. and we are expecting 2 to 4 inches on the grown and some of it could melt. there is that bullet area in lancaster area where i think they will do better than 4 inches in spot. maybe spots of chester county and delaware county where it could go higher and less down by the shore as we have rain mixing in. this isn't a constant snowfall, and periods of inactivity for the day and the numbers coming up and the accumulation is probably late today and tonight. and hopefully not too much more.

up in the lehigh valley, 36 degrees, periods of snow in the late evening hours and a little after midnight. down the shore cloudy and breezy and moderate tidal flooding and minor to moderate coming back at you later tonight and this evening and down the shore a high of 38 degrees and lots of clouds and periods of snow straight through the afternoon and in through the evening, the seven day from accuweather high showing a high of 38, be careful as you are driving around and encounter snow in the evening, breezy and perhaps a snow shower or flurry early. after that we improve to 40 and the cooler air starts to march it's way back and 32 on friday and saturday a high of 24 early with temperatures falling during the day and single digit overnight lows and valentine's day 20 and that is arctic air for the weekend.
