good afternoon we begin with breaking news from ursinus college. where dozens of students were sickened by some type of stomach infection. about 40 students started complaining of sickness including stomach pain and vomiting last night in this morning. at least 17 of those students were treated at a local hospital, right now it's not clear if they were sickened by some type of food or person to person contact. they have closed their dining hall and are disinfecting that and common areas. we'll follow this story and bring you new details on "action news" and at 6abc.com. and breaking news from northeast philadelphia, where a police presence at george washington high school here in

the somerton section. we learned new information about exactly what happened here. "action news" reporter, gray hall is live outside of the school with more. >> reporter: hi rick, i just got off the phone with the district spokesperson, there was two situations that happened at the school. first good news, there were no injuries or no fights at the school. at 9:00 a.m. this morning, the school spokesperson tells me that two students got into a loud arguing match near a stairwell that caused commotion that was quickly cleared and then at lunch time about 200 students started roaming the hallways and that raised suspicion for the school staff and they locked down the school and now the all clear is given. no fights or injuries, there was a medical situation unrelated to the situations, a girl had a

seizure, again unrelated. so no injuries or fights and parents and studentses are back in classrooms. live in northeast philadelphia, gray hall, channel 6 "action news" back to you guys. developing news now from delaware county where the district attorney is providing new details about a deadly police involved shooting in chester. >> district attorney jack whalen says the shooting appears to be justify. the police shot the suspect following a long police chase. he was a convicted felon that was determined not to go back to jail and pointed a gun at officers. vernon odom will have a live report on this at 12:30. and developing in harrisburg, the pennsylvania state senate will vote to remove whether to remove kathleen kane from office today. her law license was suspended in object and is facing leaking

grand jury material. kane has denied the alligation, they need 33 votes to remove her and if they get the votes, governor tom wolf must affirm it. we'll bring you the outcome as soon as it is announced. now to the latest from accuweather, snow showers continued into this morning. that is right the flakes were flying across the region and it made for a wet and sometimes slippery commute. looking live outside now the snow has moved out. we have a mix of clouds and sun. >> now we are looking ahead to bitter cold in the accuweather forecast. meteorologist, david murphy, is tracking the latest at the big board. >> reporter: the cold air is coming and for now the snow that stubbornly came through through the morning rush hour is now gone. what is on the ground? there is an area to the west of philadelphia. berks county and lancaster county, some sports of the

western edge of chester county that got as much as 4 inches or month and some spots as high as 6 inches and another line where we got 1 to 3 and the general accumulation for from was 1 to 3 inches and some of it came early yesterday and then melted before the more significant amounts came in last night so it's possible in cases where the official amount is 4 inches or better that is not what you saw on your lawn, in any event it's gone at this point and as we look at satellite the cloud cover has thinned out as we have seen the departure of that snow. and it was on the snowy side for a while there and on the gray side this morning. as we start this up, you can see the clouds are thinning out and ground is showing through and if you were outside over the past couple of hours, you see sun mixing with clouds and nice gaps opening up through all of that.

temperatures are imperfecting too. 35 degrees in philadelphia and any icy sidewalks or side roads this morning will probably improve over the next several hours. 33 in allentown and wilmington, be careful walking and driving around and today's high is 40 degrees below average and not bad when you consider what is coming next. we are keeping our eyes on a mass of deep cold air in the north pole and the hudson bay and this weekend it's plunging down past philadelphia, giving us temperatures saturday afternoon in the teens with single digits in the overnight hours and the windchills even worse, a big story coming up this weekend weather wise and we'll have details in the accuweather seven day. now to developing news from the campaign trail, abc news learn that new jersey governor, chris christie is expected to suspend his campaign as early as today. this comes on the heels of the first primary in new hampshire

6 "action news" rick back to you. >> thank you. from our delaware newsroom now state police are looking into whether snowy conditions were the cause of a crash that killed a pedestrian. a man perfect pennsylvania was killed by a hyundai sonata, the driver stopped a short distance away and they conducted their investigation. well, the lesean mccoy case is in the hands of the philadelphia district attorney's office and prosecutors will decide whether to press charges over this brawl in an old city nightclub over the weekend. video from early sunday morning allegedly shows the former eagles running back involved in a melee with off-duty police officers, two of the officers were seriously hurt. arrest warrants are being prepared and mccoy's defense attorney tells espn if they

this is the moment a parking garage collapsed. a demolition crew was working for weeks to tear the structure down in houston texas, they were in the final stages when it came down a lot faster than expected. at first it appeared that it came down on a man inside but the man came away without a scratch. the demolition is continuing as planned . the royal caribbean cruise ship that went through the storm is still making its way back to knowledge at this hour. it sailed into hurricane conditions and the captain says the ship will return at 9:00 tonight. he said he slowed the ship down due to the rough waves.

the first cases of zika virus are confirmed in pennsylvania and delaware, none contracted the illness in the united states all of them caught it while traveling out of the country. they are two women but would not say if they were pregnant or their ages or where they traveled too. >> they were mild cases, a fever, rash and not looking for complications. >> the first case in delaware is a woman but pregnancy is not an issue. zika is linked to a disease that babies are born with unusually small heads. a man is recovering after locking himself in a newspaper stand for days. this shows the moment that the

david here now with another check of the accuweather forecast. we are done with the snow? >> we are. >> and balmy temperatures now. >> reporter: we are getting ready for a big time cold snap this weekend. stormtracker 6 live double scan shows you we are high and dry and after morning snow showers the last sub ornband that came through, we have cloudy skies giving way to sunshine across the region and this is earlier in somers point where clouds were holding fast and we had the last of the snow flurries moving through. 35 in philadelphia and we have sun reemerging from behind the clouds, winds from the west at 20 miles per hour, and it's cold out there with a windchill of 4,

suburbs we when 4, 5, and higher, hockessin 3 and under 2 inches in mount laurel and ephraim and hopewell. now we look at breaks in the clouds and later tonight there could be showers or flurries popping through and in the lehigh valley, 38 and clouds and sun overall and down the shore we go for a high of 33 degrees and clouds mixing with sun as well. in philadelphia we hit 40 and a few degrees below average, better than yesterday and clouds mixing with sun and blustery conditions running west 10 to 20 miles per hour on average. for the afternoon and evening commute temperatures dip again and 34 by 6:00 and by 7:00 getting close to the freezing mark, i don't expect a lot of refreezing but there say possibility that some icy patches pop up and cloud and brisk and colder and dropping to 24 degrees with the winds
