he came in sixth with 4% of the vote and carly fiorina suspended her campaign and 11.5% of last night's vote is up for grabs. nora muchanic is live in trenton. nora all of this came down within the past hour, i know that christie issued a statement today. >> reporter: he did indeed, he issued it on facebook a half hour ago, he says he leave the race without an ounce of regret and all of those that ran it with me and those that gave their support. people are talking about this all day and it's no surprise after the thumping the governor took in new hampshire last night. >> just not enough. not enough tonight. and that is okay. >> that is governor christie in new hampshire following a crushing defeat in the gop primary, he spent millions there

and more time than any other republican but still came in sixth place with 7.4% of the vote. the people in new hampshire have spoken clearly that mr. trump is their selection in the election. >> he suspended events in south carolina and returned to new jersey where he met with advisers about ending his campaign. this is christie headquarters in morristown where all was quiet. >> to finish in single digits is an embarrassment, he is a talented politician we know that here in new jersey and it did not resonate with the new hampshire voters. >> it's time for the governor to focus on new jersey. >> there is a whole host of problems that really need to be addressed and you need an executive to take the reins of power. and we sampled voters. >> i am disappointed i liked him and would have voted for him.

short in the state senate and 33 votes were needed to pass and kane's law license was suspended in october and faces charges to allegedly leaking secret grand jury material and lying about it under oath. she says she is happy to continue the job she was elected to serve. up to 100 students at ursinus college have fallen ill and they are working to find out the source of the infection. live now is reporter walter perez. what is the latest there? >> reporter: well, the number of sick students here at ursinus has gone up dramatically and we are told that 100 students have fallen ill 22 of whom were hospitalized for dehydration. it all started last night as several students reported feeling ill here at ursinus college and this evening approximately 100 showed up at

the school's medical center. >> a lot of students walked in complaining of the same thing, vomiting and diarrhea and not feeling well and some were on the dehydration side. >> the common thread seems to be that most of the students that fell ill reported eating dinner last night at the dining hall on campus. and while tainted food is certainly a possible. the outbreak could have spread person to person. we spoke to several students and whatever it is it spread quickly. >> pretty much ever where you go everyone is talking about it their house is sick or they're hall is sick. >> i hear about all of these people and now i'm scared i'm going to get sick i'm staying away from people. >> the dining hall is shuttered temporarily for a thorough cleaning and disinfecting. >> we are taking proactive measures that the halls and high

traffic areas are cleaned as well and special attention to where the students have been sickover night. >> jim we have an update here, we are told that the dining hall will voluntarily be shut down for the duration until the montgomery county health department can conduct a full investigation and county officials say it seems like norovirus but they need a couple of days to confirm that. everyone is expected to fully recover. walter perez, channel 6 "action news." >> thank you. authorities in gloucester county arrested a man they say set fire to an apartment complex yesterday. 25-year-old artis bryant jr. faces arson and burglary charges, he is accused of starting the blaze on delsy drive and is in jail on $100,000 bail and the red cross is assisting four families displaced by the fire. it appears to be only a

matter of time before philadelphia police issue warrants for the arrest of former eagle, lesean mccoy and three of his friends. "action news" reporter, sara bloomquist is live at central detective headquarters, what do we know at this point. >> reporter: based on information from multiple sources we expected arrest warrants to be signed today but it seems here that the district attorney's office is taking their time with this one and want to make sure they interviewed all the witnesses and acquired all the cell phone video out there. the attorney says that he believes the evidence will show this is a clear-cut case of aggravated assault. >> philadelphia police are interviewing witnesses and combing cell phone video from the recess lounge in old city sunday morning. this video appears to show lesean mccoy's face, police say

that sunday mccoy and three friends including a former nfl player were inside of the recess lounge on south 2nd street. the running back and his friends got into a verbal argument with three off-duty police officers, one a sergeant over a bottle of champagne. and lawyer perry says he represents one of the officers. >> they suffered serious facial fractures and multiple bones in their faces and the video we have seen indicates that they were being stomped and beaten and struck while they were on the ground so for anyone to characterize this as a bar fight this is an aggravated assault that cured in a bar plain and simple. >> perry says the officers may have suffered permanent injuries and called them victims of a serious crime. >> it's quite scary, that these

men were trying to enjoy a night out in our town, a town that they protect and serve and they become crime victims, for being in that bar that night. >> now sources tell us while there were no charges filed today charges are coming, they were very clear about that. live at central detectives, sara bloomquist, channel 6 "action news." >> thank you. the delaware county d.a. says that six police officers were seemingly justified in shooting and killing a motorist that aimed a gun at them. vernon odom has that story from the city of chester. >> this is shalamar longer of chester, he was killed when police fired at his vehicle, 100 rounds following a long car chase and ended at 12th and keystone in chester city. police say that he crashed the chevy trailblazer and then brandished an old revolver at

them. >> one officer yelled there was a gun. saw the driver shalamar pull out the weapon or pull out the weapon in directions of officers. >> walen says the investigators got most of their information from longer's cousin, a passenger in the vehicle. he was wounded slightly but bailed out of the vehicle and faces no charges here. he told authorities that his cousin with a long criminal record and out on parole vowed he would not go back to jail. >> the passenger describes when the vehicle came to a stop, the driver pulled out a gun and point that gun in the direction of police. >> i spoke with the passenger and he confirms his cousin vowed not to be returned to prison but never saw him pull a gun on the cops. >> and now other relatives are denouncing the d.a's claim that

a student at lehigh university tested positive for the zika virus. the student is not identified traveled abroad during winter break and there is no threat to anyone on campus. there are six cases of zika in the suts and including one in delaware and two in pennsylvania. zeke is primarily spread through mosquitos. philadelphia mayor, jim kenney is joined by officials today to break ground for the

renovation of the city's love park and construction is set to begin in the spring, the love statue will stay but more green space and a fountain will be added. the park will reopen for skaters for the next four day. >> we want people to come from around the area and around the world for one last spin on your board here in love park. >> as a further tip of the hat not skateboarding community, the city will donate all the granite from love park to skate parked throughout the city. and the boss is giving up his tickets to see the boss, he donated his seat to the soldout bruce springsteen concert to a fundraising group. the fund for the school district is selling the tickets for $566

coldest weather coming our way it's nice to think about baseball in florida. >> something we think about this time every year. the balls will be flying a week from today. spring training almost here. pete mccannon will begin his first full year. he says he mellowed with age and hopefully that makes him better. when i was younger i was a screamer and demander and over time i am only as good as the players i have. i can only put players in a position to succeed according to my way of looking at things.

get out the dr. denton's. do people still wear them? >> they don't call them that. they call them long underwear. >> get out the long underwear. >> stormtracker 6 live double scan showing we finally shook away the snow showers and had lingering showers this morning and it caused problems for the morning commute and then the sun broke out and i took our weather shot today and i was on a long run and was impressed by the canopy of the snow glazed trees and i took out my iphone and took a picture. when the wind blows you get the big clumps of snow falling on you, 33 degrees in philadelphia. down from the high of 36. that is 7 degrees below normal and we will not be climbing above freezing until tuesday. so don't get used to this. allentown 31 and trenton 32 and wilmington 32 degrees, factor in the winds and windchills right

now a little bit on the cool side, 23 in philadelphia and 16 in lancaster and feels like 24 at the atlantic city airport but it will get a lot colder. satellite 6 along with action radar showing a lot of breaks in the clouds but mostly cloudy today though. and this is the first in a series of fronts, future tracker 6 showing us tomorrow morning the kids go to school and windchills generally in the teens and single digits and as the front presses through tonight we could have a quick snow shower and not a lot of moisture with this. this one has some teeth, this one moves through and it could create snow squalls and could coat the ground and that joins forces and it pulls down winds with an air mass that originated over siberia. over the weekend we are looking

bad. friday night into saturday morning the snow squalls with the arctic front, the high 20 on saturday hitting the early temperatures fall and look at the low sunday morning that would tie a record low 2 degrees. sunday for valentine's day the high only 19 degrees and presidents day 29 degrees and then snow arrives in the form of snow and then warmer air gets pulled in and that changes to a mix and all rain on tuesday with a high of 48 and wednesday a mixture of clouds and sun and 48. so bring out the dr. denton's for the weekend you'll need them. >> thank you. finally tonight dozens of young men from chester gave a thank you to an important supporter, 20 members of the achievement high mentor program surprised thaddeus young with an award in support of the program.
