one another. now, police believe this was caused by a snow squall a localized sometimes bliekd burst of snow. -- blinding burst of snow. we have 15 people trapped on the westbound lanes. 78 go westbound and eastbound lanes. >> reporter: we are hearing from a driver. it just sounded like two bombs went off, there were a couple of people laying out and trucks and cars smashed, trucks in between tractor trailers and it was total destruction. >> reporter: police remain on the scene looking to see if any other factors played a role in the tragedy. we'll update you when we learn more details. 7:35. both friends and foes of u.s. supreme court justice antonin scalia are mourning his death. the conservative legend on the high court died of natural causes yesterday. scalia was the longs serving

justice on the court. he was known for his sharp mind and strict interpretation of the constitution. he will go down as one of the great justices in the history of the republic. the justice is survived by his wife and nine children. he died three weeks shy of his 80th birthday. 6 remaining republican candidates took part in the debate in greeneville, south carolina. they faced off one week before south carolina voters head to the polls. in the wake of justice scalia's death they wasted no time that president obama should leave the choice to nominating the next supreme court justice to his success successor. i think it's up to mitch mcconnell to stop it. i wish the president would think about not nominating somebody.
