16 people are forced out of their homes following a rowhouse fire in montgomery county. but the big story on "action news" at noon is the winter storm that could cause problems during the evening commute. sky6 live hd showing you the conditions in cape may. accuweather tracking snow that will eventually change over to rain with a messy mix in between. david murphy is at the "action news" big board with the latest. >> reporter: i want to start you out with the winter weather advisories and then we'll get to radar. you can see the whole area is covered by this. what will happen you'll see a changeover from snow to rain. the advisory in south jersey and delaware is in effect until 4:00 p.m. we think after that it will warm up and change to rain where slick roads conditions will improve. down south they have winter

storm warning in sussex county, you may see more snow down there before the changeover. in and around the i-95 corridor, we'll see the advisory up until 10:00. i could see roads improving before that. in a moment we'll see how future tracker will show how rain will change over at 1:00 a.m. improvement from south to north is what we are expecting. what we're seeing right now is snow overtaking most of the region. still south of allentown and reading and fairly light in the immediate northern suburbs. you can see the brighter shade of white in philadelphia, southern chester county and parts of south jersey, as well. these are steadier bands rising up from the south. this is not the heaviest snow we're seeing this winter, as we are looking at a small accumulation, it is cold enough at the surface and the bands are bright enough they will put down

some accumulation. as we look at future tracker 6 the rest of the way, between now and 2:00 p.m. you can see how the snow filters in. warm air to the south pushes the rain to the north. by 6:00, the rain line is past us, with a period of sleet and freezing rain expected during the transition period we could see be looking at it's a residual freezing there. in allentown, will be improving tonight. when i come back we'll talk about the specifics in road conditions and how they will go over the next couple of hours and in the evening. meanwhile, penndot will be working throughout the evening all day and into the night. the agency has 120 trucks and 100 thousands tons of salt. 12:30. we're tracking conditions from our delaware newsroom. the snow is starting to fall across the first state. vernon odem is live in newark. we go there, high, vern. >> reporter: hi, sarah, the snow has been falling in the first state for over an hour now. as you look at the ground it's starting to stick and accumulate on the grassy surface. as predicted the snow started coming down in delaware at 11:00 a.m. deldot started brining the main highways before dawn. the snow is coming from the south. i spoke to motorists heading north. when we left for a hockey tournament there was about an inch of snow on the ground outside of washington. >> reporter: a good amount of snow. for them, we're from jersey, we're used to handling the snow. from richmond, very bad,

minutes to bring things under control. the cause of the fire under investigation. another fire in norristown forced more than a dozen people out of their homes late last night. the flames sparked in a rowhouse and spread to the neighbors on both sides. the bitter cold made it difficult for firefighters to battle the blaze. crews had to call in salt trucks to deal with the wet roads that became icy. we have multiple septa buss here and medical buses to keep the personnel warm. two residents escaped from a third floor window. 15 people are getting help from the red cross. katherine scott spoke to the homeowners and she will have their reaction at 12:30. classes resumed at ursinus college after a stomach bug sickened students faculty and staff. annie mccormick has the latest

from the campus in collegeville. >> reporter: over the weekend there were more cases of stomach illnesses reported at ursinus college. that brings the number of sick students to more than 200. school officials have taken aggressive measures to resume classes. we wouldn't be resuming classes if we did not have full confidence that the community was ready to return. >> reporter: when students started showing symptoms last week they took measures and closed the dining hall on wednesday. thursday afternoon they canceled classes for the rest of the week. this weekend working with the montgomery county department of health they began an aggressive cleaning effort. we were very aggressive in the cleaning and sanitizing and disinfecting of all the common

of east tillman street. police are trying to identify the woman and autopsy is planned for tomorrow. they describe her as an asian woman between 18 and 30 years old. if anyone knows of a missing person matching this description give the police a call as soon as possible. a suspect robber led police on a short chase and crashed into several parked cars and injured a woman before being arrested. the chase started when the suspect stole a delivery man's car. the victim called for help and the police arrived quickly and located the car. during a short chase, the stolen vehicle hit a rd -- red vehicle with a woman inside it and she was taken to the hospital. the fight begins over who she would nominate justice antonin scalia's replacement.
