the race for the white house. and police have a warning for a rash of car thefts in the philadelphia region. but the big story is the cleanup from the monster storm that brought us heavy rain and winds. >> they are looking to see if a tornado touched down there. we know of no injuries but as you can see from chopper 6 hd several farm buildings were demolished. do dozens of houses were damaged here too. it was about four miles long and a quarter mile wide. john rawlins will bring us a live report coming up today on "action news" at 4:00. the storm took down trees across the area, this one fell on to an suv parked in a drive way along west mill road in

hatboro, montgomery county. no one was hurt. even though the rain has moved out we are still dealing with the risk of flooding. police are to close the northbound side of lincoln drive at gypsy lane because the roadway was completely fills were water. we begin with annie mccormick and the cleanup there in cherry hill. >> storm cleanup is underway, take a look behind me, you can see the crews on the roof of this home where a tree fell on top of it. there is damage like this all over cherry hill and lucky nobody was hurt at this home even when the tree fell, luckily nobody was inside. this massive tree split in half when it fell on this newly renovated home. the impact was so strong it sliced the roof and knocked off the brick facade. on the other side of the

township jerry never heard her tree crack, fall or crash. it missed her neighbor's house. she thinks that is a miracle. >> it was about 70 feet tall, it was huge. if i stood at the bottom of it i could not look up and see the top. >> when you see this now what goes through your mind? >> divine intervention. >> trees fell bringing down power lines like on old orchard road knocking out power and blocking intersections like this one. >> it's our tree, power went out everywhere, power went out everywhere, but we have power. the tree is actually blocking our neighbor across the street's driveway. >> jordan and keith say they got in the way of their front yard baseball games any way. but this damage can prove costly

and deadly. you can't help by get side tracks by damage. >> if it's the worst one we'll get out there right away. if it's something that can wait, we'll get the sidewalks and streets cleared for the people and hopefully everything gets back on track sooner rather than later. >> reporter: back out live the crews will be out here for quite sometime during the day. and there was a family inside when the tree fell but they were not in the area. pseg is doing a good job working notice area. if you have an outage, you are asked to report it. now to the latest from accuweather and the risks for residual flooding today. meteorologist, david murphy, tracking the current conditions from the "action news" big board. >> it came down in buckets and this morning you have more showers and now only light

sprinkles that will probably pass through in the afternoon and evening. this is nothing compared to where we were. the flooding continues and the rain itself is long gone and immediately as the rain was coming in we had smaller streams and creeks fill up and flood. the way it works long after the rain is gone that runs into the larger streams and creeks and we have some green showing up in parts of the region. but right now as you look to the northern and western suburbs, any low lying area with a creek or stream has a chance of at least minor flooding from western chester into pottstown and reading. about half of berks county and half of lehigh valley county, and the northern tip of montgomery and buck county and on up to easton. mercer county is released from this but points to the north have some creeks and streams still running high and minor flooding in the areas. two other waterways of concern

includes the brandywine creek. this is the one creek experiencing moderate flooding through the morning, earlier it was up by downingtown and now shifting to chadds ford. the crest was an hour ago at almost 12 feet and that is about three feet above average. so moderate flooding through the afternoon there. the schuylkill river has minor flooding and it's a long time before this ends, through tonight and up to about 3:00 in the morning before this subsides, we are at the crest now at 14.7 feet. the minor flooding will take a while to subside as the water goes down in the overnight hours. when i come back we'll talk about where temperatures are going, that is a downward trend today and tomorrow and an upswing in the seven day forecast. >> several parts of virginia are

reeling today from at least one tornado. several people were killed across the state including a 3-year-old child, they have hit the region to assess the destruction there. investigators at the jersey shore are looking for the cause of a marina fire, in sea isle city. some boats had fuel on them that caused it to accelerate. philadelphia police are warning people about a recent rash of car thefts. police released the auto theft campaign this morning. they show the video of a car being stolen in less than a minute. the goal is to encourage people not to leave their keys in their cars. katherine scott has more coming up in the next half hour. new details on the deadly rampage in michigan. we are learning more about jason

dalton's behavior the days before he killed six and wounded two others. dalton's family attorney gave an interview. >> reporter: sara as you can imagine, the attorney says that the family is in shock and right now there focus is not on them but rather remembering the victims. >> i first want to express the family's utter shock and sympathy for the victims. >> through their attorney, uber driver, jason dalton's wife and parents are speaking out for the first time exclusively through abc news. >> a gregarious character and good father and well known in the community and well liked and no indication that something like this would occur. >> the father of two began driving for uber two weeks before the shootings. and now in jail facing six

counts of murder. >> the motive is a history even to his family. but according to his family, dalton's wife did sense a change in his behavior. >> he was acting different the last couple of days and his wife asked him and he said he was tired. >> he seemed depressed and down. >> on the day of the murders, dalton's family was out running errand be he was an the gun store buying a tactical jacket. and he went to his parents house after the first shooting telling his family that his chevy equinox was sideswiped and then headed out with his parents hhr. >> the attorney also denied reports that the family was having financial troubles at the time of the arrest. again the family is desperate to learn why this happened. live in new york, channel 6

members of the coast guard had to swim to safety. the boat capsized in rough waters off an inlet this morning. five crew members had to swim to shore. they were trying to save a fishing boat that ran to ground. they ended up plucking seven fishermen from the boat and they were all taken to safety for observation. a large brush fire is forcing people from their home in california. the blaze broke out along the pacific coast highway in malibu, so far it scorched 17 acres. apple is reportedly working on new safe guards as it fights the judge's order to hack into

an encrypted iphone. they are working on software that would negate any work around and the fbi is forcing apple to open a cell phone owned by one of the san bernardino suspects. tim cook says any such software will open up people to vulnerabilities. facebook ceo, mike zuckerberg and jack dorsey are apparently the targets of isis supporters. there are direct threats against the two men for combatting terrorism on their social media platforms. terrorists claimed to have hacked tens of thousands of facebook and twitter accounts and posted propaganda on the

pilfered accounts. the candidates vying for the republican nomination will face-off one more time before hitting the polls on super tuesday. the hopefuls will meet tonight in houston and another chance for marco rubio and ted cruz to slow down frontrunner, donald trump. texas is cruz's home state but is struggling to find support. rounding out the stage is john kasich and ben carson. meanwhile the next test for the democrats comes on saturday. voters in south carolina will cast votes in that primary. bernie sanders held a campaign in ohio, and hillary clinton picked up a critical endorse many. senate majority leader, harry reid is urging his colleagues to endorse her for president. and the poll is released it appears that hillary clinton continues to enjoy a lead over

the high before dawn. we are as you'll see at the moment dipping from there. at the shore we got up to 52 hours ago and that is in the distance and temperatures dropping through the 40s and in philadelphia a high of 57 this morning and no longer there as you just saw down to 48 degrees, mostly cloudy this afternoon and a spotty shower cannot be ruled out and blustery and chilly and didn't we have enough wind, today and tomorrow kind of breezy, look at temperatures now, we talked about the high in philadelphia 57 and down to 48 and allentown dipping to 45 from highs earlier over 50 degrees and down the shore also down into the 40s and if you look at future tracker 6 between now and 6:00 everybody continues to dip, i expect to be down to 43 degrees in philadelphia, by dinner time, perhaps in the upper 30s in the northern and western suburbs and tonight again cecily and adam getting you set for a cold night and
