men are still trying town ralph at this hour. it is thursday night, and the big story on "action news" tonight is yet another mass shooting in the united states. this one happened in hesston, kansas. that is a a community of about 3700 people. 35 miles north of wichita. police say that there are a number of different crime scenes but we know that one of them was inside the excel building, the excel industries building, where the gun man worked. the gun man is now dead. fourteen other people were injured. an employee of excel described what happened inside. >> we heard a pop, pop. we thought it was metal falling on the ground. then doors opened. people started screaming, coming out, saying go to the front, go to the front. >> reporter: authorities say the gun man was killed in the shoot-out with police. they have an idea of the motive but they say it is not connected to terrorism. the "action news" morning team will be on at 4:30 with the very latest overnight

developments as we learn more from kansas. this unusual scene has just wrapped up within the past hour. heavily armed police were going in and out of the neshaminy high school. authorities locked down the building after a man barricaded himself in a nearby house. a at 10:00 o'clock they took him into custody, without any injuries. it appears that the spca has uncovered a major dog fighting operation, in the germantown section of philadelphia. an operation that has claimed, the lives of a large number of k-9 a's. officers combed through a vacant lot in the 400 block of east rittenhouse. there they foundry mains of other pit bulls, inside of black trash bags. initial indications are that the dogs may have been victims of dog fighting. >> it is a horrendous act. the these dogs suffer mightily. >> reporter: the lot is right across the street from the vacant home where authorities discovered seven dead and two living pit bulls in what is suspect to be a dog fighting operation. >> one of the walls in one part of the downstairs of the property, it appears to be blood all over a corner area. >> reporter: authorities say there is no evidence of anyone living in the property. there is no furniture. just dogs being kept inside. it is believed that the three dogs found tonight were dumped in the vacant brush filled lot after they met their demise in the house across the street. neighbors seemed surprised by discovery. >> did you know that there was some kind of dog fighting going on around here. >> no, you just hear them barking, like late night, rainy nights, i never saw

biological reason. the hibernation theory. >> when the daylight becomes shorter, or less intense, and our bodies are programmed to say, i don't know where the food is going to be, i better start to eat more as a way to build up my fat reserves. >> reporter: this may have work for the cave man, but most americans today don't have to hunt for food. plus, less daylight can also lead to feeling down which can lead to craving comfort foods. certain foods stimulate parts of our brain that make us feel better. but those foods typically don't include, broccoli or brussels sprouts. >> generally they are foods high in sugar and carbs. >> this is the stuff that people find they eat. >> reporter: things like check late, mack and cheese and pizza. she says you can still indulge but suggest making substitutions. for mack and cheese she says go for low fat cheese and add vegetables. >> this way, you're lowering
