tuesday night. the big story on "action news" tonight is breaking news from township. where we have learned that seven people arrested today before and after a police chase are members of a notorious gang. this is the way it looked after police finally forced a black suv to stop on the schuylkill expressway with four suspects inside. one actually jumped into the schuylkill river, but tonight seven suspects are in custody including three that were apprehended at the beginning of this open said at route 202. lets go live to christie aleto. you have this latest information. >> reporter: that is right jim. it all starts when two firefighters spots members altering license tags on a vehicle, when police arrived

that is when the chase began. >> they found the folks trying to alter the license plate on the vehicle tried to flea. three of them ran through the parking lot and they took them into custody and there was a larger vehicle, a larger black suv that fled the parking lot as the officers were arriving and impacted one of our vehicles coming into the lot attempting to block them and then proceeded on to 202 northbound and to 76. >> reporter: that is when state police assisted. they stopped the suv when it rammed into one of their cruisers. one suspect jumped into the river and is now at a local hospital. chopper 6 hd was over the schuylkill follow that high speed chase and police found a number of items in one of the

suspect's cars having to do with identity theft. we have developing news from the philadelphia eagles. yes, they have come to an agreement on a two year contract with sam bradford. sports director, ducis rogers is here. the quarterback question is apparently resolved. >> it's not the long-term deal that sam and his agent probably wanted but not bad for a quarterback that started all 16 game in only two years. $46 million for two years and $26 million in guaranteed money. bradford indicated he wanted to come back and up until 4:00 p.m. they had the threat of the franchise tag on their side and that would have cost them $20 million for one season and eaten up far too much salary cap

space. the eagles probably realized that bradford was the best available quarterback out there. >> thank you. philadelphia police busted up a dock figting ring this afternoon and police converged on north lee street in philadelphia for the purpose of serving a warrant and "action news" reporter chad pradelli is live at that location. what are the details there? >> reporter: yes jim. the police and the spca remain on lee street, they conducted a search of this home. 2857 an hour or two ago. inside detectives found an elaborate cockfighting operation, there was a ring in the basement and they took out 36 birds, 14 of which investigators say are fighting birds in fighting condition with their chests shave and ready for battle. investigators stumbled along this investigation, they saw

birds outside and got a search warrant and that is when they went inside and found this elaborate cockfighting operation. >> was there a lot of money to be made here? >> quite a money to be made. it doesn't usually rise to the level of dogs but comes close especially with an operation like this. these are quality fighting birds. if i had to guess a lot of these were probably imported from puerto rico. >> reporter: and the spca tells me that i man and woman and small child live in the home. and investigators are questioning the two adults to see who is responsible for this operation. as for the birds, the 14 fighting condition birds will have to be put down and the others will be taken to a farm. live in north philadelphia, chad pradelli, channel 6 "action news." >> thank you. the case against bill cosby in montgomery county is on hold.

today the pennsylvania supreme court delayed the march 8th preliminary hearing. the court is still trying to decide whether or not to grant cosby's appeal and dismiss the case all together. former temple employee, andrea constand says she was drugged and sexual assaulted at cosby's moment in 2004. it's super tuesday, the largest single voting against ahead of the presidential election. voters in 12 states are choosing presidential candidates today. people in the territory of american samoa are casting ballots in the democratic race and expectations are that donald trump will have a big night indeed. ted cruz probably has to win his home state of texas. this is cruz voting for texas. marco rubio has his best chance in minnesota and on the democratic side hillary clinton is favored in most of the states

morning. police say a man pulled a knife and demanded money from a woman. we will not show you the actual stabbing. the woman fell to the floor and the suspect ran off. she was treated at episcopal hospital and is listed in stable condition. police are still searching for the suspect. a former comcast executive plead guilty to using his cell phone to take inappropriate photographs of female passengers while riding on septa trains. michael tye was sentenced to two years probation be new under go sexual evaluation and he is banned from driving septa's r 5 train. and federal investigators are looking into a deadly workplace accidents that happened in the holmesburg section of philadelphia. it happened at 7:30 at the waste management facility. this was the 5200 block of bly

avenue. authorities say a forklift operator was crushed when a 1,000 ton bail of waste fell on him. coworkers tried to revive the 42-year-old who died of his injuries, osha is on the case. a south philadelphia school received a $300,000 grant today. city leaders presented the collect to administrators at newman goretti high school this morning. the grant came from the philadelphia partnership great school fund to help create better educational opportunities for students. coming up on "action news" tonight, spring training play is now underway and we'll tell you how the phillies faired in their great fruit league opener. the philadelphia zoo is closed for spring cleaning. we'll have the efforts coming up. i'm tracking this storm system that brings a round of rain overnight and a taste of winter for the rest of the week.

we have been following this fire this afternoon. as you can see, the blaze is getting worse not better. new jersey forestry firefighters are at the blaze in millville at estelle manor road. the fire has been burning since 3:30 this afternoon and there is

no cause at this time. but it is dry out there. philadelphia mayor jim kenney led a ground breaking ceremony for a new shopping center in north philadelphia. the 7500 square foot supermarket and shopping center is on allegheny avenue. it will create 140 permanent jobs after construction. and plaza allegheny is expected to open this fall. smyrna showed off their new horse stables today. the stables are on the grounds on the department of corrections central violation of probation center. offenders that are housed there will be given job training opportunities to care for the horses. the philadelphia zoo is open 360 days a we but not today.

basking in the sunlight saying i told you so. the past three days felt like spring. three days in a row making it up to 64 degrees, that is 16 degrees above normal. but the party is going be ending for the next few days. this is what we are dealing with. you'll need a winter coat with windchills in the 30s and even 20s in the suburbs, the poconos tomorrow afternoon windchills only in the teens and friday tracking a system that will bring us a touch of snow. good consensus that we are not talking about a lot of snow. a coating to 2.5 inches of snow. since it's march we have the high sun angle and it will melt quickly. right now quiet and mild. 54 degrees in philadelphia, the same in allentown and 55 in reading and notice though as you move farther to the south with
