street. two men in their 20s began assaulting a married couple as they walked home from work and that is when the husband pulled his gun that he was licensed to carry and fired three shots. >> they punched him in the face, the whole side of his face is blown up. and his wife was hit and he asked them to stop and he discharged his firearm. >> they will decide if the 65-year-old will face charges or if they acted in self-defense. both suspects were treated at jefferson university hospital. students at wissinoming charter school didn't have class because of a threat posted online. david henry is live now with more. >> reporter: good evening sharrie, still no official word on whether this high school will reopen for classes tomorrow morning. that is still up in the air. officials are still trying to

decide. at this hour. police are looking for the suspect who triggered this whole disruptive interests den. the tacony high school was shut down and all classes were canceled and students and teachers were arriving for the day after a social media threat to students and faculty. >> students were turned away basically as they left the school. >> this is around 8:00 this morning? >> yes. >> and you weren't told anything at that time? >> no. >> police are investigating a social media posting that included a picture of a high powered gun as an applied threat and a rash of recent fights involving a number of pupils of this through 12 school. >> i want to stress that the tacony high school is an excellent school. >> i spoke to officials saying that the shut down was the

temperatures tumbled and we have the sunshine to still contend with here this afternoon. we look at the numbers and how they fell. it's too good to last with the 60s the last few days and that was our high of 60 degrees and 53 at 5:00 in the morning and we fell to 43 and maintained that through much of the morning in the afternoon hours. so quite a chill has pushed in and when you factor in the winds, it feels even more harsh. 31 is the wind gust in philadelphia and 33 in lancaster and still in the low 30s in southern parts of new jersey and delaware, as you look at the windchills, 35 in philadelphia and 30 in allentown and 36 in reading and 27 in wilmington and the winter feeling is back and looks to remain throughout the end of the week. it's quiet now but low pressure is week in the northern plains and this will sink to the south but brush us with light snow, we'll have the timing and how

he is disgusting with donald trump spending months on the campaign trail trashing him. and the editorial says if he refused to step down, citizens should start a recall effort. >> still a big rally cry. alicia thanks. now ben carson says he is skipping tomorrow night's presidential debate, he made the announcement this afternoon. saying quote, i do not see a political path forward, despite that statement carson did not suspend his campaign, he will announce more details about his political future come friday. tomorrow night's debate is being held in his home town of detroit. a huge brush fire in seasonal is fully contained but the flames are still burning this afternoon. crews say the fire has burned

the supreme court took up the biggest abortion case in nearly a quarter century today. at issue is a texas law that holds doctors and nurses to higher medical standards, they say the law protects womens health but some say it's disguises against abortion. and both cases made their cases outside of the court today. >> we are standing up to the bullies that are trying to control our bodies and our lives. >> this case is not about overturning roe v. wade. the issue is valid patient regulation and improved safety. >> this is the highest profile

issue to be heard since the death of justice antonin scalia and the justices seem deeply divided over it. american astronaut scott kelly is back on earth and heading home to texas tonight. the capsule landed in kazakhstan today and he said it was amazing to feel the bitter cold air after spending a year inside of the international space station. he now goes to houston for medical tests to determine how the prolong orbit affected his body. nasa hopes to find out if it is safe to send astronauts to mars. and the company filed bankruptcy saying it is more than $1.1 billion in debt. sports authority will close one-third of their locations. the company has not said how many jobs would be affected. they were once the largest sports retailer in america and has struggled with debt over the

last decade. looking at closing numbers, green arrows once again. the dow up 34.4 points today and the nasdaq up 14 points and the s&p up 8 points and change on the day. whole foods has recalled one of its cheeses because it could be contaminated with listeria. the recall affects maytag raw milk blue cheese, the company found two products affected and they suspended distribution and production until they found the source of and they say that no one was got ensick because of this issue. alzheimer's affects millions of american families and right now there is no cure but researchers say they may be close toward finding a way to prevent the disease. here is ali gorman with a preview of a special report you'll see tonight at 11:00. >> if you know are you at risk

32 in millville. and just above it for the shore locations. as we look at the winds from the northwest. you see clouds to the north and west of the appalachians and when they fall apart you have the wind sloping down and it drys the atmosphere and we see the sunshine through much of the day with the early morning showers and now north and east of boston as we widen out there is low pressure. weak low pressure near omaha, and you see rain and snow showers coming together and this low will stay weak until it passes our coastline and then a bigger storm and by the time it's a big storm it's open the open waters of the atlantic. brisk and cold and clear and 27 in philadelphia, and 29 in cape may. and everyone in the 20s and at times windchills in the teens, future tracker 7:30 tomorrow morning a cold but sunny start to your thursday, clouds start to filter in during the afternoon.

39 in philadelphia and 34 in allentown and wilmington and light snow starts to develop from the south at 10:00, 11:00 tomorrow night and continues into the wee hours of friday morning at 6:00 a.m. with temperatures around freezing but notice this is broken in nature and even through lunch time we are drying out to the north and west and mixing issues to the south and east at the shore. it's a quick hit of light snow here. again thursday night into friday. the four day at 4:00 forecast. chilly and it turns cloudy with temperatured around 39 degrees tomorrow and then snowy start here on friday morning. with temperature at 39 degrees on average about a coating to 3 inches. and then on saturday, sun to clouds and 45 degrees and a few flurries on sunday morning giving way to clouds on sunday afternoon and high of 48 degrees and we look at the seven day in the next half hour you'll see something we haven't seen since december. >> okay.

from our delaware newsroom one man is dead after speeding away from police in newcastle county this morning. the police said he ended up crashing on coleman street in newport, he was speeding and didn't have his headlights on

and they originally tried to pull him over because the car he was driving was reported stolen. pennsylvania senate candidate john featherman campaigned in center city. they caught up with him at the down home diner. he is running against katie mcdidn'ty for the senate nomination. the winner will challenge republican, pat toomey if the fall. cities and towns across the country books got the due they deserved today. the action cam was at elementary that took part in read across america today. and guest readers brought to life books in the classroom. read across america began in 1998 and falls on dr. seuss's birthday, that famed author would have been 112 years old today and the eagles got in on the action.

making an emotional plea to a thief that ransacked her house and stole from her. she doesn't care much about the material things but the thief got away with memories she cannot replace. gray hall has the story. >> reporter: brian, absolutely you can imagine that mother is absolutely devastated, she is grieving the loss of her son and crooks break into her house and steal items that belong to him. and tonight she is hoping that the criminals do the right thing and return the stolen items. >> my son, his i.d. card and school card and drivers license. personal stuff i can't replace. >> an emotional eileen is pleading with the crooks that burglarized her home on monday in mullica hill, new jersey. she hopes they find compassion that they return items that belonged to her son zachary who

died of brain cancer two years ago. her heart sank when she realized they targeted his room and taking things like a watch and ipad. >> it has pictures of the last six weeks in the hop and pictures of his funeral and zachary in the casket. i would love to have that back too. but i don't want to push my luck. >> it's about the memories. >> i can replace a computer but not pictures and videos and all the school work he used to do. i can't replace that. >> more than likely the crooks did not know what they were taking are more than just pricery items, they stole items of tears and laughter and items that cannot be replaced. >> that is all i have of my son 20 years old.

crews continued to douse the house with water. no one was injured here and so far no word on how that fire started. meanwhile, delaware state police made two arrests in connection with an armed robbery at iowa. they say 22-year-old eric paterson held it up and got away with both cash and cigarettes and witnesses helped to follow a get away car that paterson jumped out of and they arrested samantha hooker, the woman driving the green chevrolet tahoe as a get away car and the vehicle is supposedly linked to other armed robberies in pennsylvania. adam joseph is joining us now with a lot of sunshine out there. it's deceiving. >> the winds of change moved in this morning and you probably heard the windows rattling and the winds continue to funnel in as we take a live look now at

surprises. >> i am giddy on what i'm seeing on the seven day. drexel university is taking the wraps off an innovative school project. schooled unveiled the master plan for schuylkill yards today, a 14 acre mixed use neighborhood in university city. it will be located next to drexel's main campus and adjacent to 30th street station and a new greenway and much more. the goal is to make philadelphia an innovation hub of the east coast. philabundance received a huge boost to help feed those this need. the first niagara foundation presented a check to the food bank, more than 30 bank employees took time out to pack food donations for every dollar donated today philabundance will provide two meals to people in need. special olympics delaware

the anthem of the seas has returned to port in bayonne, new jersey, this morning. cutting a second trip short in the matter of weeks. the weather caused it to skip two tropical stops. high winds and seas caused the battering of the boat in february. many passengers getting off the ship despite what happened say they still had a great time. >> we did all the activities the staff is wonderful. go anthem! >> i didn't get a chance to see some islands i wanted to see but

at cotman avenue and police and penndot are on the scene taking out the left lane, this is the scene approaching the accident scene by cotman, 41 minutes, the number shoz be reversed a 14 minute ride instead of 41 minutes. with those speeds like 11 miles per hour. nothing in your way on the schuylkill expressway and speeds are still not great and 18 miles per hour there in the eastbound lanes of girard, and with the whipping winds we have downed wires near 322 by harmony hill nature area and upper merion near the wegmans a crash near gulf road and wanter road and another vehicle fire this one in worchester along 73 and skippack pike and our vehicle fire in gloucester county that was blocking the ramp to national park has cleared. the ramp has reopened.

all right meteorologist, adam joseph, with the seven-day forecast it's eventful -- >> when we get to it now. people will go, that is it? >> there is something great about something coming up. >> i agree. hopefully you do too. as we take a look at double scan live radar not finding anything. lots of sunshine out there this afternoon despite a very winter like wind that whipped in first thing this morning and has continued into the afternoon hours. pulling the windchills back to below freezing for allentown and just 20s for lancaster and

reading and wilmington 32 in millville and along the shore feeling like the freezing point. >> as we look at satellite and radar, the area of rain came through very early in the morning. most of you didn't even see the rain that is now north and east of boston and the sunshine is in control until you get to the middle part of country will low pressure is starting to take shape at omaha and north of wichita and bismark north dakota. it will take time to get in, it's not tomorrow but tomorrow night into friday morning. tonight it's brisk and cold and mainly clear and winds ease a bit 7 to 14 miles per hour with air temperatures only in the middle 20s. tomorrow a chilly day with high temperatures in the upper 30s for most locations, 40 wilmington and flirting with 40 for millville and delaware and a much lighter wind and we'll start with sun and then end with clouds as the system gains some strength to the south and east

and our main concern is tomorrow morning it gains strength in the gulf of mexico and this low skirts to the south and it will become a sizable storm and not until it is out to sea. we really get grazed by this as it pushes to the south and hits us with a period of light showers and snow. the time period is from 10:00 p.m. and noon on friday. it's not a consistent light snow, it just kind of goes on and offer the heaviest looks south of philadelphia and everyone in general looks 1 to 3 inches of this wet snow and there will be slick spots for the morning rush on friday, there could be some delays but overall once the sun breaks over the horizon we'll see melting during the day and much of that melts and temperatures go above freezing and it comes in and we have snow and it quickly melts, a good thing there. the exclusive accuweather

night when he and his wife were attacked walking home from work and police say at this point it appears to be a clear case of self-defense. today neighbors in queen village were talking about what unfolded here last night at second an bainbridge, a 65-year-old residence they know as sal defended himself by firing his gun at the couple. >> good for him. >> a lot of commotion from what we heard, old man sal we know him from the neighborhood. heard there was a ruckus and he pulled out a gun and shot a couple of people. >> walking down the street you shouldn't be attacked for no reason. >> the couple was walking home from work and they told police two men passed them by and two men said to the husband what are you looking at and punched him and threw him to the ground and started assaulting him and turned their attention to the wife knocking her down and punching her as well.
