good morning, everyone, 4:00 a.m., friday, march 4. we're on half-hour early due to the light snow overnight. storm tracker 6 live shows the conditions that could make for a slick commute this morning. "action news" is on the look out for any delays in the morning rush. that's a live look at wilmington, delaware, taking a look at the roads and see if there are delays with the schools. police are trying to fowferght -- figure out who killed a chef at a south philadelphia restaurant. ann anne is live in camden

county. karen rogers has traffic, and david murphy has storm tracker 6 live. good morning to all of you. >> reporter: good morning, this turns out to be a nuisance snowfall, mofort treated roads -- most of the treated roads appear to be wet. you can see that the snow right now is a broken pattern and the tail end of it is not that far away. we are expecting this to be an issue through the morning commute, but less and less so through the commute. in south jersey and delaware, you're dealing with snow and wet snow and rain snow showers until lunchtime. it will clear out sooner than that in philadelphia. the wide tail is down in washington. we'll see it break up and streak through toward the morning rush hour. winter weather advisory will expire until 9:00 a.m.

it's up until 1:00 p.m. down the shore, that's where the last band may set up and hang in longer. we are below freezing most of the area. 29 in millville. 30 in in philadelphia. 29 in allentown. treated surfaces are holding up very well with all this. you might want to be careful on the roads that were not treated. on the bus stop slippery pavement not out of the question. 30 degrees by 6:00. 9:00 a.m., 34 in philadelphia. we get close to above freezing in the lehigh valley and other of the cooler spots. 37 degrees by 11:00. 40 by 1:00. 42 by 3:00 p.m. mostly cloudy skies, but melting the light snow that's falling. looks like a coating to an inch on the ground. what is that doing to roads right now? >> reporter: this is bucks county, under the light you can

see the snow is falling steadily, there's a car moving by, no problems at all. here's a live look at north broad street. spring garden, you can see the snowfall coming down and blowing around melting not only on the road, there's a look at the sidewalks. conshohocken avenue and city avenue, roads wet. not accumulating on the pavement at all just the grassy surfaces. it's not all of the realm of possibility that it gets slushy. it's mainly wet on the roads. this is a live look doylestown road at county line 0 road. light snow falling, puddles on the roadways. one last look our camera tour, route 100 at 113. just wet here, matt and tam. thanks our snow coverage continues with "action news"

reporter, annie mccormick. she is live along the black horse pike in runnymede, camden county. good morning. annie. >> reporter: good morning, matt and tam we're at 9th avenue at the black horse. let's look at the roads karen was talking about. you're seeing wet roads this morning. take a look on the sidewalks, you'll see a little bit of snow, it will remind you it's still winter. take a look at the video. this is video from runnymede from a different area along the black horse. at that point there were no flurries falling, salt trucks were out there laying down salt ahead of the morning commute. the car dealerships will have to deal with this this morning. they will see a half inch on their vehicles. cherry hill route 70. again, nothing dramatic, but a

little bit of a nuisance people will have to drive through. back out here live, looks like things are moving smoothly as we were driving over here, 295 and 42 and into runnymede. we we have not had any problems at all. just within the past 20 minutes, the flurries were starting to fall. live annie mccormick channel 6 "action news." remember you can get the seven-day forecast and a live look at storm tracker 6 live radar at any time of the day, slash weather. and developing this morning, police are investigating the murder of an employee inside a south philadelphia restaurant. "action news" reporter, katherine scott is live outside of lee's cafe and bistro on the 500 block of washington avenue. good morning, katherine. good morning, tam, we're told by police that the victim worked as a cook here, 54 years old. the restaurant was open as this was going on.

she was found dead in the basement kitchen of the restaurant in south philadelphia. there's a takeout on the first floor and a restaurant on the second floor. parentally there's a dumb weighter device that moves the food up and down to floors. it was in south philadelphia around 9:00. they found the woman lying on the floor. her throat was slashed. she was pronounced dead around 9:15. there were signs of a violent struggle. the equipment was knocked over. the restaurant was open, there were four other employees inside at the time and several customers on the second floor in the restaurant part. police are reviewing surveillance video from nearby businesses to see if they can see clues. although the homicide

occurred inside there's a good possibility that the cameras recorded someone coming to or leaving from the homicide scene. >> reporter: among the people they are talking to are the employees who were inside at the time. there's no word right now on the motive or the suspects in this case. live in south philadelphia, katherine scott channel 6 "action news." thank you for that. and philadelphia homicide detectives are on the hunt for a killer who gunned down a 39-year-old man in west oak lane. the victim was shot in the head at 8:45 p.m. there's no word on a motive. detectives are putting the word out about a theft at a high end clothing store in rittenhouse square. three burglars are seen smashing the windows they took $12,000 in merchandise and fled in a blue vehicle. the woman and two men involved cased the store before pulling off the heist.

they usually have an idea what's in the store, what type of merchandise they want to get in terms of their plan of accessing the store an getting the merchandise and getting back out. police are investigating recent break-ins at the bloomingdales and century 21 department stores in center city. they do not believe the crimes are related. mayor kenny will kick off the 2016 flower show. the pennsylvania horticultural society announced their winners of bloom philly contest. judges chose the best arrangements by businesses who decorated their windows with flowers. tune in for an hour long preview at 7:00. the entire weather team will be at the pennsylvania convention center to put you inside this year's displays.

plus an presentation. i love the smell of flowers. >> reporter: i got my tux, it's black. you're going to look great. >> reporter: storm tracker 6 live double scan, what do we got? we have snow out there. it's light. as we go in close, you can see there's breaks in the snow every now and then. every now and then you get a bloom of brighter white got one of those around jenkintown, even this with pretreated roads and very light snow overall and temperatures below the freezing mark really mainly wet roads out there, if you get to side streets and places that have not been treated, maybe some of the brighter shades of white will give you more problem. you want to take it slow in case

you hit a slick spot. it's snowy in newark, down through middletown. smyrna not so bad. dover not so bad. a bloom over millville and parts of cape may county. this would be an area where your visibility is a little bit worse. that's thicker snow. overall it's light and nuisance it will be out of the i-95 corridor around the end of the rush hour. hanging in down the shore a little bit longer. as we look outside, we have cloudy skies, of course, and wet conditions on the surfaces. be careful of slick spots off the main roads. 31 degrees in philadelphia. the winds east-northeast at 9 miles per hour. the windchill making it feel like 23 out there. bundle up against the cold. 29 in allentown and trenton and

reading. 30 in millville. freezing in wildwood. 7:30 or so we'll see the snow very likely break apart. hanging in down the shore. the temperatures are below freezing. as soon as 9 or 10, some of us are popping up well above the freezing mark. at the coast you'll have the lingering snow. this pushes off the coast this afternoon. the light snow only a coating to an inch will have a tendency to melt away with the high march sun angle. afternoon high, 40 degrees in millville. 39 in cape may. there's what we expect a lot of this will be melting away once we end the snow and get into the afternoon with the higher temperatures. this is a beast of a storm off the coast, one lingering effect we'll have is winds out of the north. down the the shore we could get 40 to 45-mile an hour gusts.

the seven day, 42 degrees is the high. sun later on. milder tomorrow, 45 with more rain or snow showers saturday night into sunday morning and then it's off to the races. 48 sunday, up to 60 on monday, 670 on tuesday, 72 on wednesday. and 70 on thursday, we might have a shower on thursday. we can deal with that. >> reporter: but it will be rain. 70s loving that. >> reporter: how about it. we have breaking news to tell you about right now. a house fire killed someone overnight in burlington county it was a deadly blaze costing that person their life. fire crews say it broke out at 2:00 p.m. on francis street in wrightstown. several people were trapped and they got the blaze under control and found a victim inside. there's word on what sparked the fire. 4:12. a liefl wrestler in -- high school wrestler in california want to stop a weekend

>> reporter: you know what, it's like 4:15 a.m., there's not a lot of people on the road. you're doing all right. if you are about to head out. you can see the streetlight on the boulevard. the snow is coming down lightly. we're not seeing snow on the roads, it's on the glassy surfaces. light snow falling, the roads are wet on the boulevard. we have overhead bridge construction going on, lehigh valley is closed in port richmond. stick to somerset street as the alternate to that one. ben franklin bridge 35-mile an hour speed restrictions. watch for that at the commodor barry bridge, betsy ross bridge and new jersey turnpike 45 miles per hour. storm tracker 6 live double scan showing we have light snow blanketing much of the region right now, especially in philadelphia and areas south. salem, smyrna and dover.

on route 49 there's lavender coming down pretty good, route 40. garden state parkway in surf city. in medford, wilmington and the city we're getting the light snowfall. we have temperatures below freezing, 27 in quakertown. 29 in saint davids. below freezing in center city, 29 in hammonton. 32 in glassboro. we know that the five victims of the deadly wreck on 222 of lehigh county were co-workers car pooling home. the coroner said the victims, two men were between the ages of 19 and 59. authorities say some of the family members of the victims will be traveling from puerto rico to claim the remains. the subaru crossed the median and hit a tractor-trailer head on wednesday afternoon. at this point, investigators do not know why. the truck driver is okay. the family of a man who was

killed by wilmington police is suing the department saying the video was not justified. officers trained their guns on jeremy mcdoll who was in a wheelchair. his family claimed he was unarmed. the lawsuit said the officers were poorly trained and didn't have to shoot and kill mcdoll. results of an official investigation have not been released. soccer star brandy chastain will donate her brine to -- her brain to science upon her death. research on the brain disorder has focused on men, but a study showed female soccer players suffered the second most concussions after football. new this morning, a

california high school wrestler who contracted a viral skin infection wants the state tournament postpone. he thinks he got a h. he -- herpes. they need to be stopped from wrestling or the tournament needs to be postponed, just trying to prevent this disease from getting to other people. california sports officials say they will go ahead with the tournament and have doctors on hand. all wrest sixers have to pass a skin inspection before competing. governor wolf plans to visit philadelphia today. a homemade license plate got a new york woman there you see it there, in a lot of trouble. >> reporter: i'm not sure that's going to work. we have snow falling during the morning commute.

person to see what's really like. let's go. this is plymouth meeting at the blue route, the mid county tolls. we have a truck on the shoulder not causing a big problem. maybe he is napping. it's been melting for the most part on the roadways. we're looking at the grassy surfaces, northeast extension southbound construction causing restrictions between lansdale and mid county. >> reporter: the snow is expected to be light. we're going for a coating to an inch across the region. main roads are wet. be careful as you get on the side roads and sidewalks, this is light broken pattern snow and steadier down south. it doesn't look like it will last across the region all that much longer. the winter weather advisory from the shore counties north will expire at 9:00 a.m. if you're down the shore you're looking at this to go past lunchtime.

it may take that long for the final snowflakes to get off the coast. as we take a look at where numbers are going. below freezing by 7:00 a.m. above freezing by 9:00. even though we're mostly cloudy with the sun angle, the sun is going to met quickly today. governor tom wolf will bring his jobs to pay tour traveling the state to ask businesses what they need from his administration in order to create jobs and better workers. we have plenty of new stories coming up on "action news." our coverage of might be winter's last harrah continues. we're taking live look here at penns landing. it's coming down, but it's not sticking. delaware, rodney square, you're taking a look at the statue of caesar rodney, his horse rearing up. you can see the flakes coming down at a pretty good clip right there. we're dealing with precipitation this morning. a typical bike ride in chicago turned dangerous for a 19-year-old man. he called out to a driver at a white suv, saying you're in the bike lane. the driver chased him for a block and got out and punched. and kicked him in the face. police are working to track down the driver. several robbery suspects slammed into a port-a-potty while trying to out run police in houston. during the police pursuit, the car careened through a fence and crashed into a port-a-potty and then they took off running.

police caught up with three of them. a 4 suspect is on the run. a new york woman is charged with driving with a fake license plate, boy is it obvious, police say the driver had a suspended registration and no insures. 4 -- no insurance. firefighters are on the scene of a blaze in burlington county. we'll have the details coming up. talk between new jersey transit and it unionized workers who are threatening to strike.
