of the accusations actually happened. this physical confrontation they said in the police report didn't happen. >> reporter: head football coach john vogan has been suspended pending an investigation by the school which is now investigating all athletic programs. the tredyffrin east town school district released a statement that reads in part the process will be designed to determine whether or not code of conduct violations occurred. the awareness and level of supervision by the coaching staff and what further measures can promote inclusive and respectful behavioral the three students are charged with assault conspiracy and other related charges. their names have not been released because they were juveniles when these crimes happened. as for the victim, he is no longer a student here at conestoga high school. i'm live in berwyn, chad pradelli channel6 "action news." >> thanks very much. the three suspects in this are specifically not charged with hazing. at his news conference today

district attorney tom hogan explained why. >> we found in there's a glaring omission in the hazing statute in pennsylvania. hazing statute in pennsylvania only covers colleges. it doesn't cover high schools. >> hogan called on state lawmakers to fix had omission and held up a copy of house bill 1574 which does exactly that. that bill is currently sitting in the senate education committee. hogan says he wants lawmakers to pass it. >> we've got breaking news to get you to here at 4:00. it's a hazmat situation this happening in falk lands heights. an apartment building has been evacuated. this is at 818 woodlynne apartments is what we're being told, the building 818 of the woodland apartments in falkland heights. you can see firefighters themselves being hosed down as this situation is being evaluated, just how serious it is. we're being told that a person

reported opening a bag and then a cloud of fumes came out of it. that person did not require any medical attention but as you can see, they are taking precautions, even firefighters being hosed off here on the scene. again, this is a hazmat incident happening at 1818 falkland road. firefighters are on the scene. of course as we get more information we will bring that to you. brand new at 4 o'clock, police have identified a person of interest in the murder of a cook at a south philadelphia restaurant. they just gave us this picture of a man who goes by the name noelle. they say he was working with the victim 54-year-old thuong nguyen. she was found with her threat slashed in the basement kitchen of lee's cafe and bistro on washington avenue around 9 o'clock last night. the restaurant owner told police nguyen and noelle were in the kitchen together. that owner found nguyen's body after sending a and order to the kitchen and not receiving any food.

several inches of snow but this afternoon, boy, we've seen bright sunshine and that has all of us thinking spring. >> yes, and what better place to dream of spring than the philadelphia flower show. that's where adam joseph is live today with the first look at the accuweather forecast. hi, adam. >> reporter: yeah, maybe winter-like out there especially this morning outside but as you mentioned spring has bloomed at the pennsylvania convention center as the phs philadelphia flower show is back in town, opening doors tomorrow to the public. this year's theme is explore america as they celebrate 100 years of national parks. more about this exhibit behind me in one second, but first let's take a look at the satellite and radar because the sunshine is returned in some locations after the clouds and that morning snowfall, and the storm that is really blossomed to our east, you can see almost has a center to it now with those winds wrapping around it pulling some drier air now in from the north.

thankfully we just missed this massive storm though it did bring some heavy snowfall amounts especially in southern areas. totals in philadelphia just under an inch wilmington about an inch and a halves lindenwold in new jersey just over two and a half inches, wayne 1.2 and in cape may the jackpot coming in just over a half a foot of snow. as you look at the temperatures, it is still chilly down to the south where that snow pack is still yet to melt. wildwood 34 degrees, philadelphia up to 40 degrees, reading 40 degrees and allentown on the brink of that 40-degree mark as well. as we look ahead to that accuweather forecast, it will be a seasonable weekend ahead. and then on sunday morning, we'll have another round of some rain and snow showers but then the 70's return next week feeling like spring outside and this image that you're seeing here behind me is called after the fire by stony bank nurseries, it is inspired by yellowstone national park. basically guys it resembles a

it dropped even lower aaa says in february as wholesalers cut prices to clear out winter blended gas. >> we've seen prices locally here in the philly five county area climb two cents in the last week. nationally we've seen the average increase eight cents in the last week. >> reporter: now tracking experts sa saw it slowly creepig up as the switch over to summer blends and many folks feel the uptick. >> before it was terrible. every time you look around you have to make a decision, a home decision, a household decision between the bills and the gas. >> i believe it was $1.79 last week and now it's $1.85. just a slight increase but not filling it up as much. >> i drive a lot so it does affect me. >> reporter: but you hadn't really noticed the rise in the last couple weeks or so he. >> no, it was going down as of here. it was $1.87 earlier. >> reporter: experts say it was never destined remain

the knife in the late 1990's possibly while the home was being demolished but that worker reportedly gave to it a off duty police officers who for reasons unknown never turned it in. that officer is retired now. police say they recently learned of the knife and recovered it. >> it is being treated as we would all evidence so it has been submitted to our lab. they are going to study and examine it for all forensics. >> now no matter what the testing reveals s-it will not lead to simpson being charged again at the state level because of double jeopardy and police say they are still trying to figure out if the knife even came from simpson's property. >> the u.s. economy added 242,000 jobs in the month of february. that's according to the report issued today by the labor department it also shows the unemployment rate held at 4.9 percent. worker pay, however, slipped last month but more americans started looking for jobs last month and many of them found them.

>> where are you? >> don't worry, you'll find -- i wanted to show you this main exhibit this basically is a big timber lodge. this is where visitors are going to walk underneath this is stone and wood structure. these folks are still putting down the green carpet for the black tie gala for tonight and as the folks enter this main exhibit, they're going to be greeted by park rangers as they are celebrating, that is the national pennsylvania horticultural society is going to be really highlighting national parks. there are 409 across the can country, 100 of them will be on exhibit here within 10 acres and i tell you it is absolutely gorgeous in here. and you know what, it's better outside right now than it was this morning. as we take a look at some of the numbers, we have warmed back up to around 40 degrees in the city of philadelphia and even points to the north and west, reading at 40, millville 39, 36 dover its a little cooler to the south where that snow is still on the ground trying to melt away. as we look at the wind gusts, they are pretty gusty

especially southern parts of new jersey and the coastline because of that storm that is developing over the open water of the atlantic, you're still funneling in some of those winds. still clocking in 28 miles an hour at the atlantic city airport, 24 in wildwood and 23 in millville. as we take a look at satellite and radar, you can see that massive storm that is to our east and brought almost a half a foot of snow in southern parts of new jersey, that storm is pulling away, it's moving in drier air for overnight tonight, so the sky will turn clear later on tonight but it stays on the chilly side with temperatures between 22 and 27 degrees with a much lighter wind out of the north. as we go into the weekend, there will be some changes. we're going to have a little bit of sunshine here early tomorrow morning with temperatures right around the freezing point but those clouds will quickly gobble up that sunshine as they work in from the west into the afternoon, seasonable with temperatures in the lower and the middle 40's. and then saturday night into sunday morning, another weak system is going to be passing

by so we'll see the introduction to more light rain and snow showers. most of the snow showers you see in the blue is north of wilmington, some rain showers to the south where temperatures are a little warmer and then as we get into sunday afternoon, most of those rain and snow showers will fall apart. there will still be a lot of clouds around. there could be a spitting shower with temperatures around 43 in the lehigh valley, 48 in philadelphia, 48 in millville and 47 in dover. as we look at the four day at 4:00 forecast, tomorrow 45 degrees as those clouds build in the afternoon. i like that touch of the tulips on the four day forecast as well. on sunday morning snow and rain showers. a little drier in the afternoon at 48 degrees and then much warmer with high clouds here on monday of 60 degrees and then feeling like spring. not only in the pennsylvania convention center but outside sun, a few high clouds with a high of 70 degrees. and i tell you, this main exhibit, it is jam packed with these flowers. you've got the roses, guys, you've got the cosmos, you can

the action cam was on francis street in wrightstown where the flames broke out just before 2:00 a.m. firefighters showed up and heard reports that people were trapped inside. when they put out the flames and got inside,. fire started in the living room and it appears accidental. in west philadelphia, firefighters spent the day trying to help seniors keep their homes safe in the event of fire. they teamed up with the local red cross to remind people to change the batteries in their smoke detectors. they performed safety checks on homes in the 100 block of south 58th street. firefighters say people should change their batteries when they change their clocks for daylight saving time and we will spring ahead next weekend. >> good advice. meantime more than 200 adults showed off their skills on the ice this afternoon in ardmore. spin with ease and decked out in crystal studded costumes they're competing for a spot at the u.s. adult figure skating nationals.

hall was with officers from the 19th police district in west philadelphia. gray, a nice way for them to get out and about here. >> reporter: indeed it was, brian and this is actually the first day that all the districts have held a community event on the same day and from the police officers to those who showed up to the events they say the events do work. dominos, bingo pool and police officers, it's a mixture that you may not be accustomed to seeing but this is more than just games. it is community policing. >> right now it's a tough time for police. we get a lot of negative press, so doing things like this is good for us. makes us feel good. >> reporter: police districts across philadelphia are uniting and holding police and community day events in their neighborhoods. >> the idea is police can't fix it by themselves, the community can't do it by themselves. >> reporter: the goal is to meet and greet the public break down communication barriers and show that behind the gun and badge is a real

store selling a peeled orange inside a plastic container. well, the photo posted by michelle cane has been shared thousands of times on social media. one person tweeting if only nature would find a way to cover these oranges so we didn't need to waste so much plastic on them. whole foods has apologized saying it was a mistake and that they will now leave the oranges in their natural packaging. take a look at this. little girl in south carolina thought she was dealing with an emergency so she called police. >> 911. hello granville county 911. >> well, turns out two-year-old aaliyah was having a fashion emergency. she couldn't quite figure out how to put her clothes on and even though she couldn't tell police that they still responded to her home. aaliyah's grandfather who was babysitting at the time had no idea she had even made that call. >> her grandfather answered the door and she just comes

running up to the front with half a pant leg on and the other one is like falling off. >> deputy marsha lohnes responded to the call earlier this week. she says it was the highlight of her day. all right, finally we think you're going to like this. it's a video evoking a lot of emotion across the internet today. it shows a veterinarian comforting a crying puppy post-surgery and if you've got a soft spot for dogs then you may be about to turn into mush. >> i know. >> yeah, the doctor said the dog was crying because he felt funny from the anesthesia needed to perform the operation. the video has become so wildly popular, the shelter shared this follow-up photo of the pup with her new family just to show that the dog is fine and still surrounded by love. so if you weren't smiling yesterday hopefully you are now. >> very adorable. we all need consoling sometimes.

>> you got it. >> brian, thanks. time to get another check of the roads. matt pelman with the upday. hi, matt. >> busy friday afternoon. we might have drivers whimpering like that as well. at least the lanes are opened on the schuylkill expressway however since last we spoke there was an accident here in the eastbound lanes just past 202 in king of prussia. it's off to the side but attracting a little attention and slowing things down as you come east away from the turnpike in toward 476 the blue route. elsewhere on the schuylkill no accidents but speeds are in the teens in many spots. do have a crash on the roosevelt boulevard southbound approaching third street in the inner drive. as you come down from oxford circle i would stay in that outer drive city. a crash on 95 southbound side as you enter the work zone. it's on the shoulder so not a huge deal this afternoon but causing a little slowing coming down from academy. we had that crash that was blocking ramp from the turnpike eastbound to route 100 southbound at downingtown. the crash is gone but it caused some damage. now the crews are out there making emergency repairs and

partially blocking that ramp and then farther east on the turnpike past fort washington there was another accident. it too is gone but you see the area of yellow there, it is a little slow as you head towards willow grove. couple accidents in south jersey both on the shoulder but both slowing things down, one on 42 southbound by 295, the other on 295 northbound approaching the black horse pike. speeds there just around 10 miles per hour. and we have some delays on some of the septa regional rails already this afternoon. the wilmington newark and trenton lines both running 20 minutes behind because of some amtrak equipment problems. we'll keep tabs on that and all the other stuff, brian and sharrie, in the 5 o'clock hour. >> so much on which to keep tabs. matt, thanks. it is friday of course which means we're going to help you shave money today. freebie friday coming up.

>> ♪ >> well, by luck or by planning we picked a pretty good day to give you a preview of the philadelphia flower show. >> all right, that's where meteorologist adam joseph is live with the best seat in the house. also with the accuweather forecast. hi, adam. >> reporter: yeah, and now, guys, we have taken a trip to the west coast where you'll find the oldest 2000-year-old trees and the tallest in the world, the red wood. the red woods national and state park just outside of san francisco, that is what you're looking at here. right now in this particular exhibit and i tell you, when you take a look at this chandelier tree from the outside it is impressive but from the inside, even that much more impressive which we will show you in just a minute. i got to give you a little team as we take a look at the temperatures outside right now, we're starting to warm it up just a little bit from earlier this morning when we had some of that snow. 40 in philadelphia, 40 in trenton, 39 in wilmington. 34 at the atlantic city airport and even up into the

poconos your temperature coming in at 34 degrees. as we look at satellite and radar we notice that that precipitation is far off the coast but that storm has become a beast. just to our east. thankfully we missed out on the heaviest amount of the precipitation but we got a little blast of winter this morning and now we're starting to see some of that drier air filter in from the north and the east. as we look at the forecast for tonight, turning clear and it will be on the chilly side with temperatures between 22 and 27 degrees with that very light wind out of the north. as we get into the first part of the weekend on saturday we're going to have some sunshine to begin with in the morning and then the clouds will increase in the afternoon but it's seasonable for this time of the year, mid 40's for highs, 44 in the lehigh valley, 41 in cape may and 45 down in dover. then as we get into the second half of the weekend on sunday, we're going to have another very weak system that is going to be passing in from the west and you can see some of the rain and the snow showers that developed. 32 in lancaster, 32 in

reading, 34 in wilmington. rain showers down to the south and again we could see a coating to an inch north and west of philadelphia, especially towards the lehigh valley. in the afternoon, those showers break apart. again it's a very weak system and then those temperatures bounce into the middle and upper 40's despite that we will see a decent amount of cloud cover during the afternoon but overall the weekend not a lot of sunshine, a lot of clouds and we'll watch a very weak system that passes by. then as we get into the middle of next week, we're looking at those temperatures scoring into the 70's as that warmth really builds with the ridge in the east coast. and that is not going to stay just for one day but up to three days in the middle of next week. as we look at the exclusive accuweather 7-day forecast, we're going to start on the chilly seasonable side for the upcoming weekend and again, morning sun tomorrow giving way to clouds in the afternoon. there will be a morning rain or a snow shower depending if you're north or south of philadelphia on sunday morning. sunshine in the afternoon at

48. we excel the temperature above average to 60 on monday with a lot of high clouds and then as we get into tuesday, temperatures will be up to 70 degrees and then record warmth here by a degree or so, feeling like spring on wednesday and we stay in the 70's for thursday despite a shower and then a chance of a few more showers at the end of next week on friday but a pretty decent warm looking seven day with temperatures still in the 60's a week from now. you saw the chandelier tree from the outside. now you're looking up in the inside and you see five happened herechandeliers and fir chandeliers. you can walk through this particular chandelier tree just like you can drive through some of the red woods out in the west coast and i tell you we've got to give mad props to the american institute of floral designers. it took 25 designers to create this one tree you see behind me and it also took about 25
