with his voters in five states head to the polls to cast their ballots during this contentional presidential primary season. the philadelphia flower show is officially in full bloom. we're live with a peek inside. but the big story on "action news" is a vigil in honor of a police officer who was killed trying to stop a robbery one year ago. family friends and colleagues gathered to pay tribute to robert wilson iii. jeff chirico is live with the story.

>> reporter: robert wilson was an 8 year veteran of the force, he walked the stems behind -- steps behind me for 8 years everyday going to work. remembering a hero, hundreds gather for a solemn ceremony to honor the life and sacrifice of robert wilson iii. he was a man behind the croon form, he chose the profession he chose the decision to protect. these officers including him, they are people. lives are precious and piece people who decide to take lives is beyond. >> reporter: wilson was at game stop at 22nd and lehigh to buy a gift for his son, but made the ultimate sacrifice, the robbery

was captured on surveillance video. i did everything he could to defend the individuals at the game stop. i never saw anything as heroic or as brave. the best thing to do is emulate who he was as a person, the type of father he was, the type of of friend he was, the type of police officer he was. >> reporter: he leaves behind two sons, his former partner who rushed to his side after the shooting said -- it shows the type of impact he had on all the people. he was my partner, i learned so much from that guy in two years, i thought i knew everything. >> reporter: two brothers arrested have been charged in the murder, they have not yet gone to trial.

live in north philadelphia, jeff chirico which i will. which channel 6 "action news." at 7:00 p.m. last night, officers heard shots fired on the 5300 block of hedge street. the officers saw several men pointing cars at a patrol car. five shots were fired and two hit the bumper. he caught up with them in the alley before they pointed the guns at him before run be away. one of the suspects was cut off and arrested the rest remain on the loose. investigators say a commuter may have suffered a seizure when he lost control of his car and ran over a woman in philadelphia, he was driving down wharton near 9th and struck several victims. the victim was badly injured suffering internal injuries

including broken bones and head trauma. she is in critical condition. from our new jersey news room, two juveniles were injured when they crash their atv in tabernacle. they were airlifted to cooper university hospital and in critical condition. the driver of this car lost control on the vine street expressway in center city early this morning. it happened before 4:30 a.m., along the eastbound lanes near 23rd street. the drivers and three passengers were transported to local hospital where they remain in stable condition. a fast-moving fire in the city's hunting park section ended with a vacant home suffering serious damage. crews arrived to find fire on the second floor of the row home. they got it under control in ten minutes. no injuries.

fire crews had their hands full underground fires, when the crews arrived they found the small electrical fires in the basement of a business. they had to shut down the gas main before getting to work. it is unclear how the fire started. amazing scene of a firefighter battling a base on march 2. you can see intensity of the blaze close up. no word on how the fire started, but it gives you an idea what it takes to get fires like these under control. it was a chilly today, but not freezing but any stretch of thage -- of the imagination.

service. this year at the philadelphia flower show you'll find blooms and scenic land escapes and bison and bears and timber lodge. each exhibit is inspired by the national park in honor of the 100th anniversary of the national park service. from yellowstone to the liberty bell visitors might feel like they are traveling the country without leaving the convention center. it's fascinating to see how one looks at the national parks. >> reporter: hopewell furnish anyways is a national park that was designed by the temple students. it is very realistic, this is the hopewell what they would see and smell. >> reporter: pennsylvania

horticultural society officials say tickets are up from last year. everybody can relate to the national park and have been to the national parks, that theme is resonating. it is my favorite. >> reporter: some want to shake off the winter dom doldrums. you walk into the door and you smell spring. after five inches of snow you want spring. >> reporter: a lot of people agree with him. 250,000 people visited the flower show last year. they hope more will visit this year. it runs through sunday march 13. we have an exclusive behind-the-scenes look of the flower show. our one hour special airs at 7:00 p.m. there's an encore tomorrow night at midnight. move on to the coverage of vote 2016.

today is super saturday. that means five states are casting ballots in presidential caucuses. ted cruz is the winner in kansas republicans are voting in maine, connecticut and louisiana, while democrats are holding contests in atlantic city nebraska -- louisiana and nebraska. bill clinton campaigned for his wife in detroit. michigan holds its primary on tuesday. bernie sanders is in ohio where the primary is scheduled for march 15. meanwhile, on the republican side, donald trump and ted cruz nearly ran into each other at a caucus site. trump planners to leave the campaign trail to attend the final round of the cadillac golf championships that tournament is being held at trump national

recognized national women and girls aids awareness day today by way of a health fair. philadelphia held the event at the gathers recreation center in philadelphia. they provided resources to prevent the spread of hiv. there were experts on sites to answer questions and provide free hiv tests. teenagers attended the real

talk tobacco rise youth summit at the university of pennsylvania. the idea is to make philadelphia the first city with no smokerred under the age of 21. some families in philadelphia received free pet foods and supplies. they stopped bye-bye for -- by for a pet pantry event. each month the community pet pantry focuses on a different neighborhood in philadelphia. it was a celebration of irish heritage today. ♪ after some motivation the runners and walkers laced up their sneakers to take park in the shamrock should feel in havertown. there was money raised during the effort is going toward
