right now place are working to determine whether drunk driving is is to blame for an overnight crash that sentence 6 people to the hospital. this happened at 2:30 an wyoming avenue old york road in the city's logan section. one car slammed into another. firefighters had to free two people trapped inside the car. 6 people were taken to the hospital in stable condition. reagan has died at the age of 94. this is a picture of her when she worked in the early 1950s as an actress in hollywood. she became america's first lady when her husband took office in 1981, of course, stick with "action news" at 6abc for updates on the life and death of nancy reagan at the age of 94. quite the icon. she'll be remembered in so many different ways right? a father and daughter are lucky and grateful to be alive after their small plane crashed on long island. the two were heading home after visiting a college after the plane's engine failed, marcy gonzalez is on long island with the story. >> reporter: a close call crash on long island. this father and daughter able to walk from the wreckage thanks to this parachute. the engine died, i pulled the parachute and we landed.

the pilot left with a scratch, his teenage daughter with a a resmile -- with a relieved smile. we were on our way to college. >> reporter: dad attempted to make an emergency landing 8 miles from the final destination at a small airport. they didn't make it that far. when the engine lost power entirelily, he popped the -- entirely, he popped the parachute and came down in the industrial park feet from the building. we landed mid field. >> reporter: authorities saying a bit of luck helped that plane miss hitting the building. once the parachute is deployed you lose control of where the plane comes down that's why the exact landing of this plane is very fortunate. >> reporter: in november another small plane in arkansas used

life began when she married ronald reagan. their love story expand half a century and well documented. when they met in the early 19 oohs, nancy davis was an actress and performed in a dozen movies one opposite her husband. she gave up acting to be a full time wife and mother, but took on a new role as first lady of california and then the nation. congratulate -- congratulations sir. >> reporter: nancy was protective of her husband. her influence occasionally was caught on camera as it was here when president reagan was having trouble answering a reporter's question. concerned for his safety, especially after the assassination attempt.

she drew heat for her expensive designer wardrobe and redecorating the white house while the nation was in the midst of a recession. most gave her credit for her crusade against drug and alcohol abuse. >> what she would you do when someone offers you drugs? say no! >> reporter: she also championed the art. her husband was center stage in her life. oh, my dear, our love is here to stay ♪ >> reporter: nancy kept the many love letters from her husband, this was a letter that would change her life. a letter that would tell the world that he was suffering from alzheimers disease. she became an advocate into research for alzheimers disease, when president reagan passed away in 2004 she was thrusted into the spotlight. this time escorting her

could humanly to defend those civilians that were at the game stop. i've never seen anything as heroic or as brave as what i saw that day. we are going to honor the memory of robert wilson, i think the best thing that we can do is emulate who he was as a person, the type of son he was, the type of father he was, the type of friend he was, the type of police officer he was. two brothers were charged with sergeant wilson's murder, they are awaiting trial. one person is dead and seven others injured in an early-morning shooting in chelsea, michigan. the person who was killed was a 19-year-old man. the shooting started during a party in a second floor vacant apartment. one person was injured jumping from an apartment window. all the survivors are being treated for non-life threatening
