pursuit. two people were being sought by police. we're still trying to determine why they were being pursued by authorities but one person was apprehended another person still at large but again, four people apparently in some of the passenger cars were struck by the pursuing vehicle. the vehicle that was fleeing from police. four people have been rushed to penn presbyterian hospital. their injuries not yet known but again, we will continue to follow this story for you. a police chase that found in a foot chase, four people sent to the hospital. we'll continue to have the very latest from west philadelphia as more information becomes available to us tonight. >> and now to a violent attack at a chester county home. six shots were fired into a window barely missing three people inside. according to police the suspect is an accused child abuser who was out on bail. one of the children was the alleged child victim. >> "action news" reporter sarah bloomquist request is live in downingtown tonight with more on this story. sarah. >> reporter: rick and

monica, you can see those six bullet holes right here in this window just on the other side of that, those two little girls were sleeping. the accused gunman is the next door neighbor who is already accused of sexually abusing one of those two little girls. to and night he's behind bars on a million dollars cash bail. >> it hit me more today than it did yesterday. >> reporter: early yesterday morning this man whose name we are withholding was inside his mobile home here in downingtown. authorities say his next door neighbor, 63-year-old douglas kohen walked up and opened fire through his window. when the man's two young daughters were asleep right on the other side. he grabbed his children and called 911. >> they have them all marked. you got the -- apparently that's the first shot, the low one, that's the second, this is the third, the fourth, the fifth and the sixth one is up here um back in january kohen was arrested and charged with sexually abusing one of the girls who was inside the trailer he allegedly fire shots into. he had posted 10 percent of

his $25,000 bail and was due to be in court on those charges on wednesday. >> he shouldn't have been out. and if he was out, he shouldn't have access to a gun and if he was out, he shouldn't have been living next to where the child would be so we are diging into that right now but he should not have been out on bail. >> reporter: the shots kohen allegedly fired went right through the mobile home. three of them ended up going into another home on the other side where a family of five was sleeping. >> i heard six rapid fires of gun. called my neighbor and then called 911. >> reporter: police caught up with kohen later in west goshen township after his car flipped over. he still had the weapon with him. the girl's father says his children are traumatized. he's glad kohen's bail is now set at a million dollars. >> oh, yeah, a million dollar bail. he ain't getting out. he's going rot in jailly i hope he dies in jail. that's how i feel right now. >> reporter: now, on top of those earlier child abuse charges, kohen is now charged

with attempted murder witness intimidation and related offenses. live in downingtown, i'm sarah bloomquist channel6 "action news." rick. >> septa wants to hear was think about its plans to expand further into montgomery county. it wants to extend to the can king of prussia mall and the valley forge convention center. right now the only public transit that searches the area is a bus line. septa thinks the expansion would pick up an additional 9,000 riders per day. vernon odom breaks down the plan ahead of tonight's public meeting coming up on "action news" tonight at 6:00. >> from our new jersey news room now parents in salem county say they are upset over alleged threats made against their children by a fellow classmate. school district officials say the problem has been handled but parents say that more needs to be done now. youngsters had a fistfight way fourth youngster here at pence grove middle school about two weeks ago. that fourth youngster is kind of at the center of this whole thing because he allegedly uttered racial epithets and strong threats of violence and that same youngster was at the center of a gun related controversy about two years ago. 13-year-old amir brown a student at penns grove middle school says he's afraid that a fistfight he was involved in two weeks ago may develop into something bigger. >> i feel threatened in how he used the n-word to me and how he would say things you're not supposed to say as a climbed the scuffle involved brown and two other classmates against another penns grove middle school student who is in the news two years ago. that youngster was 10 years old at the time when his father posted this photo of a child holding a .22 caliber rifle. it was determined that the boy's father did not commit a crime but that photo made headlines across the can country. fast forward to this recent

incident where tyisha santiago says the threats of violence before and during the scuffle has her concerned. >> i'm scared that my kids they walk home how about their dad comes out and he tries to do something to my son. >> reporter: but the school district has an entirely different take on what happened. in fact, officials here say everyone involved in this case has been disciplined any reports of threats involving weapons has been "grossly exaggerated. ." school superintendent sent "action news" a statement reading in part "the incident did not trigger any of our normal security and safety protocols that are put in place when there's even the appearance of a legitimate or credible threat against the safety our staff and students. now, we spoke with sever penns grove middle school parents. most of whom say they're very happy with the way the school district handled this situation. still, the parents of the other three students involved in this case are pushing for

>> we're learning more about the nation's first uterus transplant. >> doctors who performed the surgery and the woman who has been given the chance to experience pregnancy spoke today at a news conference in ohio. this is incredible stuff, ali. health reporter and registered nurse ali gorman here with more. >> reporter: this is part of a clinical trial. the procedure has been done successfully in other can countries. today we heard from the first woman in the u.s. about her journey he and this is just the start. (applause). >> reporter: the 26-year-old woman identified only by her first name lindsey and her husband joined doctors at the cleveland clinic today just 12 days after her history making surgery. lindsey has functioning ovaries but was born without a uterus. and says when she was 16, doctors told her she would never be able to carry her own biological children. it was something she refused to accept. >> from that moment on i have prayed that god would allow me

the opportunity to experience pregnancy and here we are today at the beginning that of journey. >> reporter: a team of eight surgeons and many other healthcare professionals performed the nine hour operation. a uterus from a deceased donor was transplanted into lindsey's pelvis. blood vessels were connected, gynecological parts sutured and organs secured. now doctors say as she recovers the uterus will mature. >> it will stimulate the uterus produce the lining of the uterus. the uterus is an amazing organ. it's basically on auto pilot. >> reporter: she has to wait about a year and then try in vitro fertilization or ivf to become pregnant. >> uterus transplant is not just about a surgery and from moving a uterus from here to there. it's about having a healthy baby. >> reporter: of course none of this would be possible without the anonymous donor and her family. >> they have provided me with a gift that i will never be

>> ♪ >> this bridge in missouri vanished in a matter of seconds during a planned demolition today. the bridge was destroyed nearly a year after another bridge opened nearby rendering it obsolete. much of the bridge debris landed in there missouri river below but crews then used crane to pick up big chunks of metal from the water. the national average price for a gallon of gas has made its largest one week increase since the beginning of the year. gas is up six cents nationwide and locally gas is up between two cents and five cents on average. aaa says prices are expected to keep going up ahead of the busy driving season. drivers should still be paying less this year than last year. >> philadelphia mayor jim kenney challenging city businesses to hire more young people this summer and beyond. he teamed up with the philadelphia youth network and

really is because we have never had a big march snowstorm during a strong el niño h. 1973 not any snow in march, zero. 1983, less than an inch, 1998.1. this year so far we received an inch of snow in philadelphia and i think the snow is over until next winter. satellite6 along with action radar -- i hear yay! cheers in the studio. this is a warm front that will be lifting through in the overnight hours. it won't bring us any moisture but we'll have some cloud cover and with it temperatures really not that cold. 44 degrees in philadelphia. cape may 45. allentown 38. and wilmington 41 degrees. so, future tracker showing tomorrow morning when you wake up we'll have some clouds around at 8 o'clock temperatures generally in the mid to upper 40's and low 50's. as we head into the afternoon, this warm front lifts to the north and that does two things. it brings back the return of sunshine and by 4 o'clock,

temperatures up close to 70 degrees inland and then the peek of the heat will be wednesday and thursday. this is when we get this very strong high pressure heat pump and that brings us winds out of the southwest. we're looking at temperatures both days in the upper 70's. i wouldn't be surprised if some areas south of philadelphia actually hit 80 degrees. so, the five day forecast not looking typical of early march. tomorrow 71 degrees. first day this year with temperatures in the 70's, but we bum it up to 78 degrees on wednesday. really shattering the old record of 73. thursday likely another record high, 78 degrees. on friday not quite as warm, 66. saturday mixture of clouds and sun and it cools off to 59 degrees still that's close to 10 degrees above normal and don't forget we spring ahead as we begin daylight saving time on saturday night. winter is over, guys. >> yay! >> thank you. >> three cheers. >> i think there should be a party. >> i think so, too. >> at cecily's house.

williams and monica malpass. >> hello again. here's what's happening on "action news" monday night. the democratic presidential candidates go toe to toe while the republican candidates try to make it a two-man race. we have the latest on the presidential election coming up. pennsylvania governor tom wolf officially raise the minute come wage for state employees. and are the eagles getting ready to move some major players off the roster? jaime apody has more on the rumors coming up in sports. >> now to the 2016 race for the white house. it is back to the campaign trail for the republican and democratic presidential candidates following a busy weekend. voters in five states and puerto rico decided who they want to represent their party in november. now on the republican side, the top three candidates picked up wins donald trump won in kentucky and louisiana, ted cruz took kansas and maine. senator marco rubio won in puerto rico. on the democratic side hillary clinton wop louisiana, bernie sanders also racked up wins in kansas, nebraska and maine. none of these states by the

way is winner take all. the democrats battled in their latest debate as republicans grapple with how to stop frontrunner donald trump. and abc's kenneth moton joins us live in washington, d.c. with more on that. hi, kenneth hi monica. former new york city mayor michael bloomberg announced he will not be running for president in this 2016 race and even with that there's still plenty of march madness in this race. republican ted cruz is gaining on donald trump in the delegate count and democrat bernie sanders he's got a lot of work to do to catch up to hillary clinton. the race for the white house is focused on the race for delegates. hillary clinton is working to widen her lead on bernie sanders. >> we have differences but those differences pale in comparison to what we see going on among the republicans right now. you know, i'm interested in results, they're interested in insults. >> reporter: 147 democratic delegates are up for grab in michigan's primary. the math is an increasing

>> reporter: tomorrow there are also contests in idaho mississippi and had a a the big prize is michigan where both donald trump and hillary clinton both have double digit leads on their rivals. reporting live in washington, kenneth moton channel6 "action news." >> all right, kenneth thank you. in other news voters in four states will weigh in on their pick for the democratic and republican nominations tomorrow. republicans in hawaii will caucus and republicans in idaho will go to the polls. and democrats and republicans in mississippi and michigan will also hold primaries. michigan is considered a big prize for both parties. according to the latest poll hillary clinton and donald trump are holding double digit leads in that state. breaking news tonight now concerning erin andrews. a jury has returned a verdict in erin andrews' lawsuit against a national hotel and they've ruled in her favor. they have ruled award her $55 million. she actually had asked for 75 million but the jury found that the marriott hotel chain was partially responsible for a stalker taking nude videos

of andrews and posting them online. michael we are rest the man you just saw there admited to altering hotel peep holes in nashville and columbus ohio. once again erin andrews has been awarded $55 million from a jury in her lawsuit against marriott hotels. world news tonight with david muir will have much more ottering andrews judgment and the 2016 race for the white house coming up at 6:30 following "action news" at 6 o'clock. now to a developing story we have been following since june of 2014. the illegal immigrant found guilty of raping a doctor in center city is going to prison. today a judge sentenced milton garcia to 22 to 44 years in prison. garcia pled no contest to attacking and sexualing assaulting a 26-year-old woman inside her apartment along the 1900 block of spruce street. garcia also stole the victim's keys and her phone which helped authorities track him down. garcia who is from honduras was deported back in 2013 but later came back to philadelphia.

>> in other news investigators are looking for the man they say beat his girlfriend to death with a hammer in north philadelphia. it happened last night at this apartment in the 2500 block of north 17th street. when police arrived they found 32-year-old izesha gateward with severe wounds to her head and body. "action news" has learned the incident followed an argument between the victim and the suspect. police have released this new picture of the plan who is a person of interest in the killing of a south philadelphia cook last thursday. investigators say he was working when a cook's throat was slashed inside lee's cafe and bistro on washington avenue. they think he may have had a cut to one of his hands. he reportedly drives a white suv like the were unseen at the restaurant. if you know where he is you are asked to call police immediately. in chester county former malvern prep swim coach and college counselor emily feeney pleaded guilty today to trying to seduce a high school student. feeney admitted she told the 16-year-old young man she

could get him into harvard in exchange for sex. she also sent him topless photos. as part of a plea teal feeney received five years probation he she also has to register as a sex offender for the next 15 years. >> governor tom wolf signed an executive order raising the minute william wage for state employees and workers on jobs contracted by the state. those individuals will make $10.15 an hour which is an increase of three dollars an hour. the wage hike is part of governor wolf's jobs there pay initiative. he says while the minimum wage hike for government employees is good it doesn't reach far enough. governor wolf says higher wages not only help the worker it also proves valuable for a company's bottom line. >> it boosts morale when you pay a fair wage. it also produces productivity. it reduces turnover. >> "action news" stopped by the pennsylvania career link

center in bristol bucks county today. pennsylvania labor and industry secretary kathy manderino says the governor is taking a step in the right direction. >> the reality is if you go to work every day and you're working hard you deserve to make a wage that you can support yourself on and your family and so i think it's going have a positive impact for working families. >> pennsylvania's republican controlled legislature has refused to consider the governor's request to set the minimum at $10 an hour for everyone. pennsylvania's current hourly wages are set at the federal minimum which is $7.25 per hour. monica. >> all right, rick. atlantic city police are safer tonight thanks to some new vests they got today. police foundation presented 16 new bulletproof vests to the department. they were acquired from donations made by several businesses. the life saving equipment will protect the men and women in blue against gun shots a safeguard that had only been given to the swat team before today. philadelphia detectives

say a speeding driver lost control of a car, slammed into that this house in grays ferry this morning, then ran off on foot. this is the scene after midnight in the 1300 block of south 28th street. the couple living here was not injured fortunately but engineers will have to determine if their home is safe to live in. investigators are still trying to locate that driver tonight. >> all right, time now for an update on the highways and by ways this evening. >> over to matt pelman in the "action news" traffic center to see what's up. hey, matt. >> have a bunch of benders of the fenders on the highways. fender-bender in delco northbound side of the blue route. you can see it's all off to the side and so the lanes are opened but about eight or 10 minute delays in both directions on the blue route 476. as you head toward 476 on the pennsylvania turnpike, there's a crash in the westbound lanes approaching 476 on the shoulder causing delays coming west of willow grove this afternoon. on the big picture in lansdowne by ardmore avenue elementary school watch out for a crash along ardmore avenue at berkeley avenue.

civil trial between pro wrestler hulk hogan and a popular news web site. hogan is suing gawker for $100 million for publishing a sex tape of him. gawker posted a 2007 video of hogan having sex with his former best friend's wife. hogan is seeking $100 million for that alleged invasion of privacy claiming he did not know he was being filmed. the owners of gawker say his fame made the tape news worthy. maria sharapova announced she did fail a drug test at the australian open. she says she tester positive for meldonium. a drug used for ischemia. sharapova says she's been taking that medication for 10 years but the drug became a banned substance this year. the world tennis association has not announced a penalty. >> and turning to sports now jamie is here and a big trade that could be in the works for the eagles. >> yes, sounds like it's going to happen. we knew the off season would be busy but now things are

radar, that ribbon here, this kind of wedge of sunshine we enjoyed today is beginning to shrink. there is a warm front to our south and west. a couple of sprinkles along and that will throw some high clouds our way tonight and again maybe a spotty sprinkle or two. so watch those high clouds be introduced into the forecast for tonight. not as cold. 38 in the suburbs, 44 degrees for center city with those west-southwesterly winds three to 6 miles an hour. in center city for your tuesday, lots of sunshine after some high clouds in the front end of the day. 21 degrees above average tomorrow as we tip the scale or the thermometer, that is, of 71 degrees. i don't know where that came from. in the lehigh valley, uner 60's there, very mild, west-southwesterly winds of six to 12 miles an hour and if you're going to be at the shore tomorrow, again, much cooler there. it's going to be warmer than today but the numbers will stay only in the lower 60's with that wind again out of that southwesterly direction, just a few clouds as we top off

young girl he's alleged to have abused. kohen is back behind bars at this hour. "action news" reporter sarah bloomquist is live in downingtown tonight. sarah, what's the full story here? >> reporter: well, jim, you can see where the six bullets went through the window of this mobile home here where the two little girls were sleeping, two little girls sleeping right on the other side of that window. and those bullets narrowly missed them. the man accused of pulling the trigger was already accused of sexually abusing one of the little girls who was asleep in the room there. now'now he's charged with attempted homicide. >> yeah, talking about death. >> reporter: this father broke down in tears as he talked us through what happened here in his downingtown mobile home park very early yesterday morning. his two little girls were ah asleep on the other sides of this window when authorities say the next door neighbor walked up and fired six shots. >> somebody tried to can kill me and my kids, you know.
