young girl he's alleged to have abused. kohen is back behind bars at this hour. "action news" reporter sarah bloomquist is live in downingtown tonight. sarah, what's the full story here? >> reporter: well, jim, you can see where the six bullets went through the window of this mobile home here where the two little girls were sleeping, two little girls sleeping right on the other side of that window. and those bullets narrowly missed them. the man accused of pulling the trigger was already accused of sexually abusing one of the little girls who was asleep in the room there. now'now he's charged with attempted homicide. >> yeah, talking about death. >> reporter: this father broke down in tears as he talked us through what happened here in his downingtown mobile home park very early yesterday morning. his two little girls were ah asleep on the other sides of this window when authorities say the next door neighbor walked up and fired six shots. >> somebody tried to can kill me and my kids, you know. >> reporter: police say that

somebody was 63-year-old douglas kohen. kohen was charged in january with sexually assaulting one of the little girls who was inside the trailer he allegedly fired shots into. he posted 10 percent of his $25,000 bail on those earlier charges and was due in court wednesday. then this happened. >> what was going through the defendant's mind exactly? i don't know. but 3:00 in the morning he's firing a gun into an occupied residence. he's trying to kill somebody. >> reporter: as the bullets flew through his home the father pulled his girls to the grounds and called 911. >> they have them all marked. you got the -- apparently that's the first shot, the low one. that's the second. this is the third, the fourth, the fifth and the sixth one is up here. >> i feel terrible for him, terrible. that had to be so terrifying for them. >> reporter: three of the bullets ended up inside another home where a family of five was sleeping. kohen was arrested a short

time later in west sorry goshen township after he flipped his car. police say they found the weapon and much more ammunition. >> i hate him. i really hate him. >> reporter: so now on top of those earlier sexual abuse charges kohen is charged with attempted homicide, witness intimidation and related offenses and this time around he's being held on $1 million cash bail. live in downingtown, i'm sarah bloomquist, channel6 "action news." >> ♪ >> and we have a developing story now coming in from west philadelphia. a police chase that began in delaware county came to an end near 52nd and katherine in west philadelphia this afternoon. it appears that four people have been taken to the hospital. "action news" reporter christie ileto is live at 53rd and katherine. christie, what's the story on this? >> reporter:. >> reporter: well, jim these are just two of the vehicles that were hit during that chase. apparently it all started when darby borough police witnessed

two men selling crack cocaine. officers say the two suspects jumped in their rented car and that's when the pursuit down katherine began. >> they was going back there real fast. i'm talking road runner fast. >> it hit all the cars on the left-hand side of catherine street. >> reporter: now, witnesses described what it was like as the suspects tried to outrun police in this very busy southwest philadelphia neighborhood just after 4:00 this afternoon. the pursuit started in delaware county and stepped into high gear on katherine near 56th. police say the suspects crashed into three cars before losing control and crashing into two parked cars and that's when the pair darted from the vehicle and began to run on foot. >> the occupants of the vehicle both fled. one was app left-handed a short distance from the car by darby and philadelphia police. the second person ran into a laundromat close by to here changed his clothing and was caught on a septa bus.

both individuals are in custody, both back to darby borough. >> reporter: now, the suspects crashed around 53rd and katherine. they towed the suspect's vehicle away a. again, they're still trying to sort things out and get these vehicles removed from this neighborhood you can see it's still very much show blocked off and an active scene here. again those four individuals were taken to a nearby hospital and the suspects are facing an array of charges including aggravated assault the reporting live in southwest philadelphia christie ileto channel6 "action news." jim. >> christie thank you. only "action news" was there at the delaware county emt turned herself in to police today in prospect park. melissa givens is accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a junior firefighter. delaware county detectives say that five month relationship involved trading sexually explicit pictures and video. the boy was 15 years old at the time. he is now 17.

givens faces corruption of a minor charges. she is married to the chief of the norwood fire company. police have released surveillance video of a suspect wanted for a shooting in north philadelphia. it happened yesterday at church's chick can ken restaurant in the 3600 block of north broad street in north philadelphia. the suspect allegedly got into an argument with an employee who was cleaning tables nearby. investigators say the suspect left the store, then came back with a gun and fired three shots hitting 19-year-old josiah myers. myers is expected to survive. philadelphia police are looking for the hit-and-run driver who struck a toddler in olney this afternoon. the crash happened at 1:30 along the 200 block of west grange avenue. investigators say the two-year-old's injuries are not life-threatening. septa is holding the first of three public meetings at this hour on its plans to extend the commuter rail lines into king of prussia.

live at the radisson hotel is "action news" reporter vernon odom. vernon, you've already been getting some public reaction to this proposal. >> reporter: jim, naturally local residents have a list -- long list of concerns, fears and questions about this project,. construction would begin in 2020 projected completion date in 2023. at this point septa's high speedline cuts off in norristown. but on the drawing board now a billion dollar plan to expand septa's train service all the way out to king of prussia where thousands come from the city and other suburbs to and from the mall daily and other big job sites each day. they now must come by bus or car on i-76 hardly a fast way to travel. for them, a rail extension is a no-brainer. >> takes us awhile to get home. so if we had that train we could get on that train and be home maybe an hour earlier.

so it would be good for us. >> reporter: septa says their new line from norristown out and around the king of prussia mall would generate an additional 9,000 riders a day. they've chosen a plan they say would bump up against only 25 residents along the turnpike. >> king of prussia is actually the largest employment center outside of philadelphia. so, there's certainly a market in commuters to utilize the extension and it provides that opportunity for residents as well to travel into the city. >> reporter: septa holds the first of three public hearings on its pro-proposal tonight at the radisson hotel where they'll be selling the plan which will require three years of massive construction to complete in an already congested neck of the woods. residents will be expressing their concerns. >> noise, visually, if you can see how it would affect the neighborhood with a high level train running through it. >> home values, whether it's going to stay decent or not. >> reporter: worried about

noise and the elevation of the train, things like that. >> yes, and traffic. >> reporter: jim, this first of three public hearings is beginning rider now even as i speak. the projected cost for this railroad extension $1 billion. they expect to get half of it from federal fundss in washington. live in king of prussia, i'm vernon odom channel6 "action news. >> vernon you have been around for awhile. what do you think the chances are that septa meets the timetable of completion in 2023? >> reporter: well, it's a very ambitious project. they've tried to work with five different scenarios and routes along here. the one they've worked out now would only affect 25 residents along the turnpike. so, they're very hopeful but the biggest hitch right now is getting funding. where do they get the rest

"action news" reporter katherine scott has the story. >> it takes a lot to host such a complex large scale event. >> reporter: volunteers are a huge part of that. the democratic national convention is coming to philadelphia from july 25th to 28th. and the host committee is looking for 10,000 volunteers ages 14 and up. >> we're going to need a lot of folks in the area to really come out and show support for philadelphia, be ambassadors of the city and show the the visitors what a great city it is. >> reporter: the bulk of the opportunities are for the week of the convention but plenty of help is needed beforehand. >> and they're going to walk down to the reading terminal. >> reporter: jay kaplan moved to olde city last year and has been talking to various arts and community organizations about how they can participate. >> i thought this would be a very exciting and interesting way for me to learn about the city, learn how the city functions. >> reporter: it takes less than five minutes to sign up on web site. you can share a little about yourself and was might be

the middle of the week. we have his high pressure off the eastern seaboard. this is a classic high pressure heater pump. what this does is bring us winds very strong out of the southwest. so, wednesday and thursday temperatures climbing up into the upper 70's. if everything goes right, some areas actually could touch 80 degrees. even right now it's pretty mild. 57 degrees down from our high of 61. reading and lancaster 61. trenton 56. this time of year, though, with the ocean temperature 43 degrees with those winds out of the southwest, it's a lot colder right on the beaches. cape may currently 48 degrees with a wind off the ocean. satellite6 along with action radar showing we had blue skies, plenty of sunshine earlier today. some clouds are beginning to stream in and this is all associated with a warm front that moved through overnight. tonight we'll see clouds but temperature on the mild side. 44 degrees in philadelphia t allentown 38. cape may 45. and wilmington 41 degrees. tomorrow this high pressure in control and what this does it brings us a return of sunshine.

71 degrees. 10 degrees warmer than today. that's 21 degrees above average. but the real warmth arrives on wednesday and thursday. this is when we'll reach up into the upper 70's, record warmth both days and even as we head into the weekend temperatures remain on the mild side. so, the exclusive accuweather 7-day forecast, this is a nice looking forecast if you don't like winter. tomorrow 71 degrees, the first day this year of temperatures in the 70's but we'll likely have three days in a row. wednesday 78 degrees and this will not only set a new record, this will shatter the old record. the high in philadelphia the record 73 set back in 2000. we'll be 5 degrees above that. allentown, trenton, wilmington, atlantic city all close to or above the record highs. thursday 78 degrees again. another record. then on friday, not quite as warm, 66 degrees. still that's mild for march. heading into the weekend mixture of clouds and sunshine. on saturday 59 degrees. don't forget to spring forward one hour as we begin daylight
