>> reporter: it's been pretty remarkable two days in a wrote where it feels like summer and winter. as we look at the numbers in philadelphia. yesterday 82 degrees and so far today 81 degrees. this is the first time we have seen back to back 80s in the month of march since 1988 it was also an el niño day, the 29th, 30th and 31th, that is the end of month but to get this at the beginning of the month that is pretty remarkable. everywhere you see an asterisk is a record breaking number. 80 for trenton and wilmington and atlantic city airport. and cooler at the shore upper 50s to near 60 degrees. stormtracker 6 live double scan shows the summer party is going to end fairly soon, we see the rain so the west and to the north and that is the front that will eventually collapse here as

we get into the overnight hours. we talk about showers pushing into during the overnight hours and then turning cooler as we get into the week and weekend and the weekend itself is looking quiet overall. we'll look at the details and the timing of the rain coming up in the full accuweather forecast. >> we are following more breaking news at this hour. police in philadelphia have arrested a group of suspects in connection with attacks on roman catholic high school students and we are told that all the suspects are underage. erin o'hearn is live with the detales here. >> reporter: big details brian and sharrie, sources tell "action news" that the attack on one of these roman catholic students last month was caught on surveillance tape and that led to the area rest of these juveniles here. we understand that these four

students attend electrical chartner center city. police confirmed that one of the four arrested admitted to being involved in another roman catholic student, jimmy falyen. they are looking to see what if anything that may have been involved in falyen attack in front of the municipal building it left falyen with a badly injured eye and concussion. he was walking from the school to the train station when witnesses say he was pummeled by a group of kids. his parents now drive him to and from school. and he suffers from headaches. police say this is a growing problem in the city and they expect this questioning to continue for a few more hours. i spoke with the mother of one of those four juveniles, she

received a call that her son was arrested this morning. she is waiting at the police department waiting for answers, and has not gotten any yet. she says her son doesn't have problems but lately has been hanging around with the wrong crowd. four juveniles arrested for the attack of one roman catholic student one will be charged for another attack. erin o'hearn, channel 6 "action news." >> thank you. meantime the police officer ambushed in his cruiser in philadelphia faced down his attacker once again today. jessie hartnett testified in court about the night police say he was shot by edward archer. vernon odom is live with the details. >> reporter: good evening,

predictively edward archer was held over on multiple charges. hartnett says his aassailant never suttered a word during the attack. >> his testimony was brief but riveting, when he describe the attack viewed across the world on social media. >> we'll see what happens. >> he described the night of january 7th at 60th and spruce, hartnett has stopped at the light and 17 shots were fired in all by who police identify as edward archer. his arm was severely damaged and managed to get out of his vehicle to exchange gun fire with the fleeing archer. >> it's amazing he is here, it's

section of philadelphia escaped their home in time after their row home collapsed around them. the home started crumbling at 1:00 in the morning and continued hours later after the sun came up. -- as you can see the action cam was there and rolling at ashmead and mar one as the house continued to fall apart. they say they were getting into bed when the walls started crumbling around them. >> was hanging up my clothes and heard boom boom boom. and then it all came down. >> he caught the ceiling and i was holding it up and he said come on lets get out and thank god we were out of there and not hurt. >> they said about three hours before it collapsed. a friend noticed the house was

starting to buckle, their row home pulled away completely and today seven people are unable to get back into their houses. no one was seriously hurt and the cause of the collapse is still under investigation. and brian they are lucky to be alive today and when they heard is the rumbling they ran for cover. the philadelphia school system announced a new system, called the turn around network. superintendant, dr. william hite says they will focus on 15 schools with chronically low academic performance, they will put money in the schools and once they meet the criteria they would leave the network and the next lower school would get them. pennsylvania attorney general, kathleen kane, was in town to talk about consumer

it's a disturbing and frightening story out of allegheny county. authorities were on the hunt for two gunmen that opened fire outside of pittsburgh at a barbecue killing five people including a pregnant woman due in may. and police say that this was not a random attack. one of the attackers pushed some

of the partygoers to an area near the fence right there that is where a gunman was waiting for them shooting each of the victims in the head. >> it was a very well planned calculated murder. they basically herded people to a position in the yard and there was a man waiting with an ak style weapon and hit people. >> among five people killed three were siblings and three others were hurt. a pile of shell casings were recovered outside of the backyard in the alley and a second pile was found feet away from the porch where they ran for cover. the motive is unknown but they have not ruled out drugs. they say that the group gathering there was cooking out and playing cards, he calls this

the state of delaware upper 70s but along the shore the temperatures there with the wind off the ocean of 48, that is a cold wind, 63 sea isle city and 61 at the boardwalk in atlantic city. as we look at satellite and radar this area of rain continues to hammer parts of the south with over a foot of rain in parts of louisiana and arkansas. this front is slowly now beginning to progress and collapse in from the north and west. for tonight it clouds up quickly and showers develop later, 53 allentown and 60 in philadelphia, staying mild in the overnight hours, as we look at future tracker at midnight. that is when the showers enter the suburbs and still in the mid to upper 60s until midnight tonight, at 3:00 a.m., we see the green to the north and west. still waiting to the south and east. they continue to drip quickly, off the coast. 57 in philadelphia and the sun

one woman is in the hospital after she was attacked by one of her dogs inside of her west philadelphia home. it happened at 8:00 on the 1600 block of regent street and the woman had to go to the pennsylvania medical center and her injuries are thought to be serious. animal control officers took the dog and they have not given us names of anyone involved here. police say they made a record heroin bust in dover and they arrested darren swiget on north dupont highway, when they went inside they found 6400 bags

juniata park, investigators say a dark colored car rear ended them and the officers were taken to the hospital with leg and neck injuries. chopper 6 hd was overhead as police caught up with and arrested a suspect in the park side section of the city. the suspect initially ran from police and converged on poplar and 41st. they put three area schools on lockdown until the suspect was arrested . amid cleanliness concerns the state ordered a talliville spine center to close. they say that concord medical spine and pain center could not confirm that equipment was properly sterilized and that they did not meet equipment accreditations. and there is no charge of disease being transmitted but are urging patients to talk to
