you, 7:00 a.m., saturday march 19. here's some of the stories we're following for you on "action news." two buildings will be imploded in north philadelphia this morning. in just seconds the skyline will change forever. you're looking live, the two buildings will be coming down at 7:15. plus two men are rushed to the hospital after they are involved in a fiery crash on the schuylkill expressway overnight. also what will the first day of spring bring? we're keeping our eye on a system that could bring wet snow. chris sowers is outside with a look at the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast. chris you say don't be too concerned about this, right? >> reporter: it was a pleasant surprise when i first got in here this morning, the overnight modeling showing everything shifting farther out to sea, which means we're expecting lighter snow with the system. some areas might not see anything at all and temperatures are not going to be as chilly as

what we were thinking for most of the week. 31 in allentown. 32 in reading, philadelphia ho, good ho -- 40. millville, 38 degrees. atlantic city at the airport, 35. satellite and radar, part of the region why it's so much colder out here this morning than what we experienced in recent mornings is the fact that we have a cold front that's in the process of pushing through. if you look towards the left-hand side of the screen you can see light rain and snow shower activity pushing across the virginias. that will sneak in here this tht were in the form of rain snow showers, that's the first part of the system. the second part arrives tomorrow. 42 degrees, 1:00 p.m., 46. showers. 3:00 p.m., 44. source south and east, we've made some adjustments to our snowfall map.

right now we are leaning toward this being a nuisance event a coating to an inch in most of the areas. when i come back i'll show you what's going to see what in the seven-day forecast. the good news everything is shifting east, this looks like to be a glancing blow. this morning's two highrise buildings will crumble under the weight of explosives as the philadelphia housing authority brings them down to make way for new apartments and low-cost townhomes. extinguish extinguish joins us live -- trish hartman joins us live with more on the implosion and we are minutes away from the implosion. >> reporter: i just learned that the program is running late and the implosion won't occur until 7:25. take a look behind me, two highrises as well as 15 low rise buildings part of the normman

blum burger apartments they are being taken town to make way for new housing. the buildings have been prepped not just with the explosive that will help to bring them down, all the glass has been removed and workers combed through the building one last time yesterday to make sure nothing is left behind. one worker found a cat inside the building and they got a hold of her, they found a home for her. folks who live near the site were asked to leave their homes by 5:00 a.m. as a precaution. they were notified in advance and made their way out by now. a comfort station was set up if they had way to go during the evacuation. folks in the dust zone are told to keep their doors and windows closed during the implosion for their safety. two 18 story buildings were built in the 60s, they will

come down close to 7:25 a.m. making way for new housing. the ceremony is underway. we're hearing that the 17 buildings from the apartment complex will come down at 7:25. we'll be watching trish, thank you so much. a rollover crash injured two men on the schuylkill expressway at 2:30 in the westbound lanes between university avenue and south street. two plain clothes philadelphia police officers were passing by. they helped the victims and started to put out an engine fire. state police and firefighters arrived and closed down the highway for about an hour, the schuylkill expressway is now reopened. there are details on a late-night double shooting that happened in north philadelphia. the victims are being described as a 20-year-old man who is in critical condition and 22-year-old man who died from his injuries. someone shot them several times in the 1200 block of west

drinking. they are lower than those found in homes in flint, michigan. they shut off sinks and fountains in 30 buildings and will test 17,000 children for contamination. another new jersey transit system banning the hover boards. path announced the new policy yesterday. the director said there were no incidents on the train, but path is acting on the side of caution since the lithium ion batteries used in hover boards pose a fire risk. the ban on negligence transit has been -- new jersey transit has been in effect since this past months. we'll go back to see the implosion of two philadelphia highrise buildings. this is chopper 6hd. the two buildings have come down now, as the time has been pushed to 7:25. trish hartman is live on the scene we'll bring you the images in just a bit.

nickels was working at the philadelphia navy yard in 1942 when a walk up north broad street changed her life. i saw this picture of uncle sam wants you we need you, i said okay, i'm coming in. she was stationed at pearl harbor assigned to the motor transport pool. driving around the island she saw lots of war damage, but they had no fear. we were energic and young and didn't worry about a thing. >> reporter: in fact some of other -- some of other fondest memories are playing for the softball team. when the war ended she met the service and met another marine who was in it for life. he was on leave for 0 days, so we started dating. >> reporter: seven decades later

minutes away from an implosion that will forever change the skyline in north philadelphia. about to highrises will be brought down as philadelphia housing authority makes way for new apartments. trish hartman is live on the scene. hi, grai, lots of people -- gray, lots of people are standing here anxiously. there's a crowd and lots of media and members of the philadelphia housing authority. people who lived in the buildings an people from the neighborhood who are waiting to see the buildings come down. i'm here with a woman who used to live in the buildings, this is an emotional morning for you.

very much so even as we get closer to the actual implosion my emotions are rising up in me, i can't believe so much of my life has been lived here and to think it's getting ready to be imploded and debris, it's overwhelming. >> reporter: a lot of memories were made here, we got the one minute warning. kelvin jeremiah ceo. houses authority and other members of the housing authority will press the plunger. we are outside the dust zone a number of people had to be evacuated. all the buildings are empty since october. workers gave one last run through yesterday, so we are just waiting now, less than a minute until the buildings come

after getting stuck on a buckle rod due to a water main leak. a kensington beauty salon is scorched by flames overnight. one person is sent to the hospital. meteorologist chris sowers is in the studio with a look at the forecast. the snow will be gonna matter of seconds like the buildings. >> reporter: and things have improved overnight. looks like the system has shifted out to sea with each and every passing run here. that means we're expecting light snowfall amounts for tomorrow, if anything at all. i'll talk about that in a couple of minutes. there's the view on sky6 live hd down in atlantic city. high wispy cirrus clouds overspreading the skies. while you were asleep we had a cold front slip through. 30 degrees in quakertown. we had numbers in the 60s over the last few days, this is a

this right here, this is brand new video from the 3000 block of kensington avenue in the city's kensington section. philadelphia firefighters had to help several tenants out of the apartments on the upper floors of the salon. one man was treated for smoke inhalation. firefighters are investigate this as a suspicious fire. fire damaged a delaware county day care center and church. the action cam was on the 100 block of ridge avenue and darby as firefighters made the final sweep of the creative minds learning center run by ever abundant life international ministries. neighboring fire companies were called in to get a handle on the flails. it is unclear when the day care will reopen or if weekend services will be held at the church. this morning pennsylvania supreme court justice kevin dougherty is recovering after being attacked by a homeless man

allentown, 31. poconos 29. millville, 38 degrees. trenton, 35. cape may checking in at 40. double scan live showing two pieces to the system, which originally was supposed to come together and merge into one giant storm off the coast of the coral -- carolinas, that was going to ride up the eastern seaboard and produce massive snowfall amounts for march standards. it appears that process will be farther east out to sea which means the heavier snows will fly across the eastern portions of the new england and the canadian maritimes. it appears we are missing out as that high bumps that out to sea. later this afternoon, cloudy conditions, there's the pennsylvania turnpike right there, so it looks like all the moisture is staying south of that mark. it will be south jersey and southern portions of chester and delaware counties in southeastern pennsylvania. it may try to mix with wet

snowflakes later this evening. we camp a break in the action overnight tonight. tomorrow morning we start out with sunshine. clouds increase once again, though, moisture breaks out across south jersey and delaware, even though the modeling is not showing it at this point, we expect rain and snow showers. rain and wet snow during the day, light amounts, more like rain and snow showers. if we pick up accumulations it will be on grassy are surfaces, temperatures are well above freezing. we're forecasting highs close to 40 degrees tomorrow. so all the roads will be mainly wet. no icy patches or snow covered roads to deal with. this is the call from accuweather. i'm ready to take this one to two inch slot off the map altogether. right now we'll leave it as is. the one to two inches for the i-95 corridor stretching west to the mason dixon line and interior sections of south jersey, we're expecterring a
