"action news", delaware valley's leading news program, with meet the role goodies melissa magee, jeff skversky and walter perez. saturday night, fire breaks out in a delaware county church and more than a dozen animals are removed from a home in northeast philadelphia a. but the big story on a "action news" is threat of rain and some snow in our area tomorrow. just in time for the a arrival of springtime.

meteorologist melissa a magee is tracking the system and joins us live from the big board with more, melissa a a. >> yeah, sarah we are tracking two pieces of energy working their way in the delaware and lehigh valleys. storm tracker six live double scan radar is showing you we have light rain falling. for bulk of the day it has been falling to the south of philadelphia right through south jersey into delaware. notice mixing going on for from wilmington and chester county, pennsylvania. initially we were thinking we were going to track one piece out the to the west and another area of low pressure that would merge and form a coast aal storm but that idea is falling apart. what we have overhead right now is a a little bit of moisture moving across the region. that will shift to the north and east throughout the early evening hours and then we're tracking an area of low pressure off the coast that will work its way to the north and east as we get in the second half of our weekend, on sunday. models are trending that this area of low pressure will move further east which will low snowfall amounts across our region even from what we were earlier today, on the air.

something else to keep in mind that temperatures ahead of the system are quite mile. the yesterday we were in the 60's. today we maxed out at 47. 39 degrees in philadelphia. forty-four in allentown. thirty-seven in dover. same thing in wilmington. even as that precipitation moves in early tonight and even for that math ther into sunday the road look to be mainly wet. we will talk about what we can expect this evening and it is light rain and some wet snow, mixing in from time to time, on sunday that wet snow along that i-95 corridor, rain showers around, rain to the south and east and then by sunday night that snow will taper off from the west to east direction. coming up we will take a closer look at the system on the way, talk about snowfall amounts and we are low across the region. that is good news for first day of spring. also these temperatures rebound quickly. details, sarah with the accu weather forecast. breaking news now from camden county, nine people have been injured in a car crash. this happened around 3:00 o'clock in the 800 block of blackwood clementon road in pine hill. from the video it appears that

two cars collided head on. we're still waiting to get specifics from authorities. no word on conditions, of those involved, all nine people were rushed to cooper university hospital, two were taken by medical helicopter. another developing story coming in the news room right now a 20 year-old man is hospitalized after falling from a second floor window in newark, delaware. the it happened around 4:30 this afternoon in the 100 block of west main street. we're told man fell about 30 feet from a second story window. he was taken to christiana hospital. no word on his condition, or why exactly this all happen. one of the philadelphia's most notorious housing projects is now just a pile of dust and debris. this morning it took just a few seconds to bring down the norman bloomberg apartments which stood for nearly 50 years. windows. this building houses a school and a church and the leaders of both are trying to figure out how to move forward. because he rose, we can rise. >> reporter: just a a day before palm sunday day pastor alex thompson says his congregation won't be discouraged by fire that broke out at ever abundant life international church early this morning. fire crews responded to the two alarm blaze after midnight on the 100 block of ridge avenue in darby boro. creative mind learning center and christiana contacted my a attach to the church was most seriously damaged after thompson says there is smoke and water damage throughout the building. this afternoon windows were boarded up and signs hung up to keep people out. pastor thompson says they will rebuild and sunday services will go on. darby's mayor offered to hold it in the boro's new rec center. >> we will take our congregation down there and we will have church, man, just like we normally do but probably better because we will give god praise for, you know, keeping us.

nobody is hurt. >> reporter: i'm told more than 100 students attend this child care center and academy every day. i spoke with the leaders of this school, and they say they are working to find another place, to house classes and child care, by monday morning. we are live from darby, delaware county, jeff chirico for channel six "action news", sarah a. >> jeff, thank you. animal control officers removed more than a dozen animals from a house in the cities holmesberg section this morning. they were notified after police received a tip that the 17 animals were living in filthy conditions at the house located in the 7900 block of marsden. fifteen small dogs and two cats were taken away by pspca, they will be cleaned up a and looked over by veterinarians. it is not yet clear if the home owner faces charges a a that the time. police are investigating a shooting in north philadelphia last night that left a man in critical condition. it happened around 11:00 in the 2900 block of north reese street. officers were called to the scene and found a man lying on the sidewalk with a gunshot

wound to the chest. he was taken to temple university hospital, where he is now listed in critical condition. less than an hour later shots rang out again in north philadelphia, this time a man was killed and another wounded. violence happened in the 1300 block of seltzer street, investigators say first victim was shot multiple times and rushed to temple where he died. second victim was found a short time later in a nearby house and he had been shot twice, no arrests have been made. there is much more to come tonight on "action news" philadelphia a neighborhood are getting a jump start on spring cleaning, we will show you what block captains did to get inspired to clean up their street. plus at saturday treat for four legged friend, easter egg hunt for very determined dogs. plus ducis rodgers has sports when "action news" comes right back.

>> the philadelphia streets department held a rally with toy get block captains excited about working to keep their neighborhoods cleaned. more than a thousand block captains from across philadelphia a gathered in center city for this event. local organizations and various city departments set up exhibits and offered workshops for those who attended. dozens of children were treated to a special breakfast this morning, dave and busters of penns landing, hosted the alex lemonade stand foundation hero stand with the bunny. children and their families enjoyed breakfast buffet the and got to meet the easter bunny, of course. portion of the ticket sales will be donated to the alex lemonade stand foundation. six a abc hosted a broadcast pioneers career day to day for dozens of local students. future journalist stopped by to learn about internships and get tips on land ago this first job. a "action news" anchor sharrie williams was on hand to share some advice, students learned from one of our producers and assignment desk editors. the students also took a tour of our station.

school students joined the procession, through the streets of the wilmington delaware this morning a head of palm sunday day. they carried ten by 6-foot wooden cross more than 3 miles, as part of the seventh annual diocese of wilmington's youth pilgrimage. it featured a prayer and mass during stops at the four catholic churches. melissa is here with the check of the accu weather

forecast. we have been watching this system a all week. we have an update. >> yeah, good update if you do not like snow. it looks like, i know, i think everyone is down with this snow. >> forget it. >> it is moving further east so that means our snowfall totals will be lowered a cross the region. storm tracker six live double scan radar you can see we have some rain for areas south of philadelphia and south jersey, and also some mixed precipitation, wet snow mixing in areas of wilmington, chester counties. we will move tighter on street level storm tracker and notice medford lakes light to moderate pockets of rain. same thing in glassboro, mays landing, down into sea isle city and moving into middletown and smyrna a, dover, we have light rain showers. that will persist right through early evening hours, and then when we await the secondary batch of moisture that moves in by sunday. and we will show you picture outside, right now, sky six live in hd, and we're looking at, from our temple university

camera, a portion of the center city sky line. it is mostly cloudy. we are tracking light rain just to the south of the region. so ahead of the system and a head of the moisture we are tracking sunday that could produce light the snow, temperatures are still pretty mild. yesterday we had a high of 64, today we have climbed up to 47, average is 54 for this time of the year. it is cool tore day but still above average. even though that precipitation is moving in, roads look to be mainly wet. thirty-nine at this hour in philadelphia. forty-four for allentown lehigh valley. same thing in reading. the at the coast in cape may 39. we are at 40 for beach haven and atlantic city. upper 30's in dover. the here's satellite six with action radar. initially we were thinking we had two areas of low pressure that would come together and form this nor'easter. that idea is fizzling apart as we have two separate entities we are tracking here. this first area is moving through at this hour. the it will continue right through early evening hours. then we have an area of low pressure off the coast of the carolinas that will work east

ward but the models are shifting this moisture, more east. that means any precipitation moving through will be lowered across the region. call from accu weather for rest of tonight light rain and wet snow mixing in. road look to be mainly wet. will we will drop down to 29 in the suburbs and 35 in philadelphia, for the overnight low. future tracker six showing as soon as we get in the second half of the weekend on sunday. 1:00 o'clock in the afternoon mostly cloudy, light rain showers will be around, and temperatures tomorrow will be above freezing. the as we get into 8:00, 8:30 tomorrow night we have light snow for philadelphia, and, also areas to the north and west, and then rain for to areas in south jersey and even into delaware but as this storm system pull is a way it looks like some snow could end on the back side of our area in coastal new jersey as the center of the storm will be further east. so possible snowfall, update to our map here, a coat to go an inch for a good chunk of our viewing area then we have one to 2 inches for areas in

cape may, atlantic county to southern burlington county a and ocean counties as well as on the back side of the storm system that is pulling away. we could find higher snowfall amounts to the east of philadelphia. but it looks like bulk of this precipitation, falling, on non-paved surfaces. so key points to take away: wet snow and rain during the day. accumulation on grassy non-paved surfaces. temperatures well above freezing. the roads look to be wet across the region. the last gasp have of winter on the first day of spring. accu weather forecast showing high tomorrow is 43. breezy, sunny on monday at 51 degrees. fifty-five on tuesday, and mostly sunny and warmer, and spring sunshine on wednesday, up to 68. and not bad on thursday, 72, good friday is 66. a couple showers possible then. and we're above average next saturday, sarah with a high of 6o after the rain and wet snow tomorrow, not a bad forecast. >> hopefully that is it. >> enough of the four letter word. >> thanks, melissa. you can find the seven day
