11:02 pm
is not going go to go quietly. taking a live look at sky 6hd in center city at penns landing. pretty night out there but definitely a winter coat kind of night. temperatures are dropping and there is snow moving our way. saturday night and the big story on "action news" is a brush with some snow for the the start of the springtime. it is already colder and most everyone is hoping that this is winter a's last gasp. meteorologist melissa a magee over at the "action news" big board with the the first check of the accu weather forecast. >> we are tracking wet the snow for first day of spring but it looks like old man winter may tip toe out of here come tomorrow because precipitation doesn't look to be like a whole lot across the region. the here's storm tracker six live double scan radar. the light rain showers that were for the most part to the south of the city for majority of the day are starting to move out. we have a little bit of moisture across atlantic city and into cape may. also back to the lancaster county and even some moisture wet snow flakes there in
11:03 pm
wilmington. big picture showing you we have had one batch of moisture earlier today, this is starting to move off to our east and what we are awaiting is off to our south, there is an area of low pressure well off the coast of the carolinas and this will shift north and east but the computer models have been saying that the storm system is moving further and further east which means as it comes up the eastern seaboard, the snowfall amounts will be much lower across the region and that is good news if you are not a fan of snow, come tomorrow. currently it is 40 in philadelphia. thirty-four in the poconos. thirty-eight in lancaster. the at the coast in cape may coming in at 36. thirty-five in millville. so temperatures are mild and they are marginal ahead of the storm system, the weak one we are tracking for tomorrow. so it looks like any precipitation that comes on through road will be mainly wet. we will go overtime line, light rain we have overhead continues to move out. tomorrow is mostly rain and some wet snow, mixing in along that 95 corridor and areas north and west. rain to the south and east. by sunday night rain end, snow

11:20 pm
tomorrow. outside we will go, sky six live in hd in chester looking at commodore barry bridge. we have mostly cloudy skies overhead, and it the is pretty calm across the region with that northwesterly wind. currently in philadelphia, coming in at the 40 degrees. dew point at 31. we have a northwesterly wind at 5 miles an hour. northerly component to our win tonight, helps to drain down relatively cooler air for this time of the year. our high today was 47. so 7 degrees off the mark. the wind chill of 37. pressure 30.10 and holding steady. it is 40 in trenton. thirty-three in the poconos. forty-one in reading. thirty-seven in dover. 36 degrees in cape may. at the coast in beach haven coming in the at 39. we are tracking some precipitation tomorrow, and even though that northerly wind brings down colder air, temperatures are pretty marginal. as that precipitation comes through most spots with the rainfall and the wet snow, will look to be a about freezing which means we're not
11:21 pm
expecting a whole lot of precipitation to accumulate on the road. here's satellite six with action radar. the is there first system that moved through, shifting a off to the east and then we have this unorganized area of low pressure off the coast of the carolinas. that will shift to the north and east as we go throughout the day on sunday. as we have been saying the computer models and consensus has been that this storm system shifts to the east, it takes back precipitation, bulk with it and as a result snowfall totals will be much lower accredits our region. future tracker six showing 3:00 in the afternoon tomorrow mostly cloudy. we have light rain showers scattered about the region. i would allow for that for south jersey and delaware. the as we go throughout the evening hours tomorrow, you can see 9:30 tomorrow night rain showers for south jersey, central delaware, right along i-95 corridor areas north and west. we have wet snowfall across the region. then moisture will taper off from the west/east direction. we will talk about possible snowfall and what is going on
11:22 pm
here. it does than the look like a whole lot, coating to an inch for most locations. this then we have one to 3 inches of snow for lakehurst down to atlantic city and just to the north of wildwood because the center of the storm system is shifting to the east, so on the back side of this storm, as it exits and pull is a way you can pick up from one to 3 inches of snowfall. key take away points with this system. bulk of the precipitation falls during the day. mostly rain and wet snow mixing in from time to time, all of the accumulation tomorrow that slushy coating to an inch looks to be on the grass or non-paved surfaces. out ahead of the system, the temperatures have been well about freezing. the main roads look to be wet across the area here's the exclusive seven day forecast. rain and wet snow on the first day of spring tomorrow. how about that. high of 43. breezy, sunny on monday in at 51. fifty-five on tuesday. mostly sunny. getting warmer. spring sunshine on wednesday at 68. and even warmer on thursday,
11:23 pm
in at 72, and then for good friday, mostly cloudy, a couple of showers are possible in at 66. still above average next saturday, with high temperature of 6o once we get rid of the rain and wet snow tomorrow, sarah that forecast doesn't look too bad for spring. >> in the bad at all, thanks, melissa a. fourth annual unc f mayor's mask ball is going on right now in center city. black tie event is going on at the pennsylvania convention center. thinks the organization's signature fund raising event to help students get to and through college. despite the mask, we spotted "action news" anchor sharrie williams there in the crowd and mcing the event tonight was our own rick williams. up next on "action news" ducis rodgers with sports, villanova wildcats get ready for round two of the ncaa tournament, that story and more when "action news" comes right back.
