but it feels like winter. trish hartman is live in roxborough where people are getting spring water ice despite the cold weather. >> reporter: that's right, nydia, even though it's cold outside, 89 manager said of this location 3,000 free ices will be given out. i got my favorite, mint chocolate chip. people were waiting outside to get in. before opening time employees rita's roxborough were busy stocking cups and filling the machines and making sure there was enough italian water ice to go around. i was here yesterday and i made 40 buckets of water ice, on a traditional day i'll make 15 to 18. i love rita's and i love spring it's cold out hear. >> reporter: for the die hard fans there's nothing like a cold

a little shock to our system when we initially saw the smoke, we know that god is going to work everything out for our good in the end. i think we are holding up well as a church family. the pastor hopes to perform services at the church in 30 days. there's no word on what the day care center will do tomorrow. one person is in the hospital after being rescued from a burning home in chester. the two-alarm fire broke out before 1:30 on the 400 block of concord avenue. crews arrived to find smoke pouring from the roof of the house. they rescued a person from the third floor. no word on their condition. right now police are looking for the person who shot and killed a man on a southwest philadelphia street. the action cam was at the scene, the 5500 block of beaumont street. investigators say the man was shot at least three times in the chest at 3:00 a.m.

the 23-year-old victim died at the hospital. officers found shell casings on the streets from two different weapons. they hope surveillance video from a local business will lead to the killer. philadelphia police are investigating the shooting of a teenager on a ball field behind arch bishop ryan high school. teens got into a fight along academy road in northeast philadelphia. during the argument one of the teens pulled out a gun and started shooting and injuring another teen in the leg. the 17-year-old was treated at the hospital and released. police have the suspect's car and his keys he left them behind when he ran off. philadelphia police are looking for a person who stole a tractor-trailer and got stuck turning on a north philadelphia street. s.w.a.t teams surrounded the vehicle north 17th street. police thought the suspect was

13 miles per hour that gives us a feels like temple of -- temple of 35. 31 in the poconos. these are actual air temperatures, dover, 42. cape may, 41. double scan live everything seems to be going according to plan, it is pretty much. forecast models had the outer edges. coastal storm that will swing through later this afternoon and into the evening hours. as the storm deepens, it pulls in the colder air from the north and we'll switch rain over to snow. we'll see a period of light snow overnight tonight as the storm brushes us by. it will get kicked out to sea by the stronger low pressure system. that's the good news.

we'll see showers south of philadelphia, we're starting to mix in snowflakes, as well. 41 in philadelphia. 42 in wilmington. 30s to the southeast. 40s north and west, you'll see more in the way of sun up here this afternoon. not going to see much of it, but you'll see a little bit of it to get the numbers milder. overnight tonight we'll see a transition over to a steady period of light snow. everything is east of the delaware river. north and west you mient see anything at all out of this, temperatures at 5:00 a.m. are above freezing which is a good sign which means most of the accumulation should be confined to grassy surfaces and car tops and things like. by afternoon, the sun comes back out, hello, we're up to 50 degrees, whatever snow you do see it will melt, by afternoon you'll be saying, what snow? it will be milder from that point on as we progress allong through the workweek. periods of snow overnight tonight steadiest in south

pennsylvania supreme court justice says there's more to the story. let's go outside to chris sowers, chris you lost the gloves, but you have a coat on. >> reporter: i don't know if i could get the free water ice, temperatures are very cold. windchills on the first day of spring, take a look, most areas are in the 30s, some locations in the 20s. feels like 29 in the lehigh valley. 20 in the poconos. trenton, 28. feels like 34 for philadelphia and feels like the freezing mark in wilmington and millville. so the colder air is in place, it's going to set the stage for a little winter white later this evening, into the overnight hours. here's satellite and radar you can see the snow is flying to the northwest across central portions of pennsylvania. believe it or not that's not part of the system we're watching. we're watching the green down toward the bottom of the screen the light rain developing in the southern portions of the delmarva. that will push farther to the north. later this afternoon whatever rain shower activity we see

taking advantage of the free cold treat? >> reporter: they are taking advantage. customers have been coming here since they opened the door at 11:00 a.m., the rita's locations nationwide will give way 1 million cups of free ice. here at this location it will be about 3,000. customers were lined up at the door at 11:00 a.m. ready for their free water ice. employees were stocking splice and salting pretzels, the manager made 40 buckets of water ice, on a formal day she said she makes 15 weather does have an impact, enthough it's cold -- even though it's cold today she expect to be busy, because people show up for free water ice. she said this is one of her favorite days of the year. it's crazy bins busy, there's something going on, and you see customers who love free

firefighters were called to the 700 block of apple tree court yesterday evening. it took about 45 minutes to get the fire under control. we are dolled that 22 units were damaged. nobody was hurt. red cross is helping 24 people find another place to stay. a 19-year-old facing murder charges in the death of his grandfather. police arrested sean haggerty after a chase that ended in chester county. he is accused of killing his grandfather 69-year-old james steffy. police were called early friday morning after his daughter found his body. his car was missing. police spotted and after a chase they found haggerty behind the wheel. he is facing charges of murder and robbery. the mother of a homeless man charged with attacking pennsylvania supreme court justice said her son is battling schizophrenia. he hit the judge in the face after asking him for money on

friday. she said her 26-year-old son was diagnosed when he was 19. she said he has resisted taking the drugs he needs. his mother plans to ask the judge hearing the case to order the mental healthcare she said her son needs. a place where they can keep him and not given the option of leaving. because when he is given the option of leaving he leaves. >> reporter: he has two previous convictions for dui and simple assault. he faces rumble assault and endangerment -- simple assault and endangerment charges for the attack on the judge. belgium police captured salah abdeslam along with a suspected accomplice during an anti-terror raid. he feels charged with participation in the terrorist murder in the november 13 attacks that killed 130 people.

french leaders are trying to speed up the extradition process from belgium to france where he will stand trial. block boxes in the dubai crash in russia are being analyzed today. the plane went down in strong winds. the crash killed 62 people on board. closed circuit tv footage shows the flight going down at a steep angle and exploding. several planes had trouble landing at the time of the crash. one diverted to another airport. the airport is going 0 to stay closed until tomorrow. 21 members of an indiana basketball team were in the school bus when it flipped on its side. the bus overturned after getting sideswiped by a car. 6 adults were on the bus. police say the driver of the car was a 23-year-old woman. she said she lost control of the

car when she became distracted after spilling a drink on herself. the players were heading to a state semifinal playoff game. we turn to the race for 2016 for the second time this month a protester appeared to have been punched at a donald trump rally. it happened in tucson, arizona. security was escorting the protester out when all of a sudden a trump supporter punched him and kicked him and fell to the ground. police escorted both men out of the event. this is not the only clash between the supporters and protesters this weekend. >> reporter: a protester wearing a kkk hood sparked a fight during donald trump rally in arizona. the other guy is wearing a ku klux klan outfacility. these are bad people. >> reporter: meanwhile in phoenix, protesters blocked the main road leading to the rally.

special harness to save the life of a horse in the california mountains. the animal fell into a ravine in a canyon north of los angeles, rescuers were lord into the ravine and hooked up the horse and flew it to safety. the horse and the rescuers doing just fine, that's amazing video. chris can you mess cue us from the snow? >> reporter: the good news we're not talking about a lot of snow, it will turn the ground light by tomorrow morning. it melts very, very quickly. temperatures shoot back up into the low 40s and upper 50s. it doesn't feel like that right now, the numbers are struggling to reach the low 40s at this point. even though it's the first day of spring it feels like winter. double scan live is clear we have a few spritzes and sprinkles showing up in southern cape may county and kent county

inch. if the storm had gotten its act together farther to the south, and come up the coast, we would be talking about 3 to 6 inches of snow. this evening, cloudy conditions and light showers across south jersey and delaware. it could be mixing in with wet snow. philadelphia, 41, millville, 39. wilmington, 42. just about everybody east of the delaware river north and west you're cloudy with temperatures in the mid 30s. in the overnight hours expect to see a steady and light snow across the south jersey and delaware, everybody else cloudy and temperatures above freezing which is a good sign. by afternoon this is gone temperatures in the 50s and return of sunshine and all the snow melts. how much snow are we talking about? most of the area north and west, western portions of berks and

lehigh valley you'll steer clear from the system, same thing with the poconos. much of lancaster not expecting much of anything at all. a coating to an inch for the i-95 corridor and one to three for the jersey shore, wildwood is to point pleasant beach in belmawr and ocean and monmouth counties. we're talking about accumulation on grassy surfaces and enuntreated walks. slippery untreated walks may develop after midnight. some of this will stick to branches and wires. it's a wet snow and wet snow sticks to everything. untreated surfaces could become slick, back roads could become snow covered, once it warms up it will melt. 45 degrees in philadelphia. mostly cloudy, a rain shower developing later on, switching over to snow.

produce and choreograph and benefit mana we volunteer our time to put on the show. mana was founded in 1990 by church members who wanted to comfort patients who were dieing from the aids epidemic. mana was to help the people who were so, so sick and did not have the food to nurse themselves. >> reporter: with the help of shut up and dance they can serve 70,000 meals a month to 800 people. it's important for the dancers of pennsylvania ballet for something that is so pivotal in our community. >> reporter: form -- for the first time ever martha gramcracker will be hosting. you'll see hip hop, modern

come to life all thanks to a perfect mix of winter storms and warm sunshine for the first time in more than a decade. it is bursting with color as you see there. the event is known as a super bloom. exert blooms and patches of purple and white are the result of the october storms. it should continue until early june. a south jersey woman moved heaven and earth so her dieing mother could be part of her wedding. new jersey correspondent nora muchanic has the story. it meant everything to me, i didn't want to get married and have her not be there. >> reporter: it's an image erica will cherish forever. when she found out her mom might only have days to live, erica scrambled to plan the wedding quickly.

two days later she was married and her mom got out of bed to attend the ceremony. i was so happy she was able to to be there for me. the wedding was put together so quickly with the help of wedding photographers who heard about her situation. through her contacts they were able to arrange for a makeup artist, a flowers, food a venue and limo all services donated for free. erica said this is supposed to be a happy time for me i'm shopping for wedding dresses at the same time i'm shopping for a funeral home. my heartbreak for them. i wanted to be able to make something really big and special for their family. they gave us a gift that is priceless. erica will cherish this moment for the rest of her life that's all she wanted to see her get mary before her mom passed away. >> reporter: the couple have
