we begin with developing news out of north jersey, a police officer was found dead in middlesex county.

investigators say the officer was off duty in his personal car when he was shot and killed in the parking lot. officials found his body outside a movie theater complex 7:00 a.m., off route 9 in sayreville. no word on the circumstances that led to the shooting. we'll update the story on air and online at 6abc.com. we're also following more historic moments in cuba today. president obama met with raul castro this morning. else the first american president in 90 years to visit the island nation. marcy gonzalez joins us live from havana with the latest. >> reporter: it is absolutely remarkable in this country that in so many ways is frozen in the past. today is about looking to the future. president obama and so many people saying it's about time.

and a jacket otherwise it's clear sailing. a philadelphia city council committee is hearing testimony boo the safety of the local drinking water today. the drinking water crisis in flint michigan has raised concerns nationwide about possible led contamination. the joint committee is hearing testimony on the quality of the city's water and homes and in schools. the water department says it uses a treatment that stops lead from leaching from orderly pipes. that treatment was -- older pipes. that treatment was not used in flint. we'll have more on "action news" at 4:00 p.m. a retired pennsylvania state trooper was killed after he tried to steal toll booth money, clearance briggs was killed after a shootout with police yesterday. he shot and killed a toll booth worker and security guard and drove away in a fare collection

van. he state police caught up with him when he was unloading the money to his car. he was shot and killed by another trooper. a person was killed after slamming into a salt truck in south jersey. still unclear if slick conditions were to blame for the wreck. 32-year-old michael bennett of sea isle city was identified. investigation underway into what caused a deadly crash on i-95 in south philadelphia. one person was killed, five others injured in the four-vehicle crash. it happened last night around 11:00 p.m. on i-95 near the broad street entrance, the person killed was identified as a male. from our delaware newsroom, wildlife officials are trying to figure out what killed four balanced eagles over the weekend.

tri state bird rescue are taking care of balanced -- bald eagles that were disoriented. four other birds flew a away, this comes after 20 bald eagles were found dead, wildlife is asking anyone who notices birds who look sick to report it. trish hartman is working on this for this afternoon at 4:00 p.m. a cleanup continues after a water pipe bursts damaging several state office in center city. nonessential employees were told not to come to work. the leak was discovered friday and damaged several floors at 8th and market. no word when the cleanup will be complete. donald trump is about to address a pro israel conference in washington. 40 rabbis plan to boycott.

trump said he would be neutral when it comes to israel. they plan to walk out when he addresses the american israel public affairs committee conference. democrat hillary clinton slammed trump when she addressed the conference this morning. trump's republican rivals will deliver speeches this week. bernie sanders is the only person skipping the event. fbi and the exert service -- secret service are investigating a letter sent to donald trump's sister. they were not commenting on the case. eric trump was sent a letter at his home last week. an iphone erupts in flames on a commercial jet. what may have caused the

the horizon, we're dropping below 45. overnight tonight with the winds easing back and clear skies, doesn't look like we'll get down below freezing in philadelphia. a lot of suburbs in the upper 20s, i would think at least in between the urban centers. future tracker 6 at 6:30 shows you the cold start, but we bounce back up into the mid 50s across the region by late tomorrow afternoon. that's the beginning. the next several days looking at an increase in numbers. the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast shows bright and breezy conditions today with a high of 50 degrees, lots of sun out there, a few patchy clouds developing as the afternoon goes on. a bit milder on tuesday, we'll inch that high temperature up to 56 degrees in philadelphia, again, we expect partly sunny skies. partly sunny on wednesday and we bump up to 68 because of a front coming in from the west we'll get a southerly flow.

thursday is warmer, a mix of sun and clouds ahead of the approaching front. looks like we'll get all the way up to 73 degrees that will feel like a nice spring afternoon. good friday, morning showers with the front, the way things are timing on the model looks like we have a shot at a dry afternoon with the return of sunshine and high of 64 degrees. start out the weekend partly sunny, and cooler on saturday, 59 degrees is the high there. easter sunday as of now it doesn't look bad for sunrise services probably around 30 in philadelphia. cooler than that in the suburbs. sunday afternoon, 63. there's a system coming in sunday night on the models that will give us rain. if that was to speed up in time we may have to change the easter forecast. for now it looks good. it's easter not nor'easter. every year.
