security forces searching brussels looking for those responsible for this morning's terror attack. shortly before 8:00 a.m., the first of two explosions rocked the departure terminal at brussels international airport and the second followed shortly after wards and smoke filled the terminal. people coured on the floor and some called for help. >> so many people panicked. so many people cried. >> everybody was scared and they ran. >> janay williams was among the passengers that ran for their lives. >> the gentlemen that works at the airport came running through the terminal, said immediately everyone evacuate immediately and pandemonium started. >> a third bomb that did not explode was found and was neutralized. the manhunt is for the man on the right caught on surveillance camera along with two possible

suicide bombers. an explosion then rips through the subway station in the heart of brussels near the european union. >> we all stand together with our ally belgium on this dark day. >> the attacks came just days after eslam was captured on friday. >> we'll do what is necessary to support our ally and friend belgium in bringing to justice those responsible. >> just a short time ago, a local official told abc news they saw the third device and it was a suitcase, that is leading investigators to believe that the other bombs may also have been hidden inside of suitcases, abc news confirmed nine americans were among the injured. three missionaries from utah and

an american service member along with his or her family of five. i'm sara bloomquist, channel 6 "action news." >> thank you. federal and local officials say that there is no specific threat to the united states but security has been beefed up across the country including here at our local transit hub. lets go to john rawlins with the latest there. >> reporter: police commissioner ross says that the city is taking precautions and increasing its visibility here at the airport and reminded everyone if you see something say something. the attack in brussels canceled an american airlines flight 751 from brussels, it was due to arrive in philadelphia early in the afternoon at the time other flights from europe are due. >> many arrived on an early flight from paris learned of the attack at the brussels airport once they landed here. >> feel horrible for all the people and their families and

just feel blessed that i'm here. >> michael evans learned of brussels before taking off. >> we got a coffee and went about our day and it was awful that that kind of thing happened and that thing does happen in the world. but it didn't really deter us or make us nervous to get home. >> in the wake of the attack they have increased the number of uniformed officers at phl today but it's nothing like after 9/11 when the national guard was here and people were subject to searches on the way to the terminal. it's a soft target and would it be safer if security check points were moved to normalal doors. >> we are an open and free society and pride ourselves in being that way. we don't want to turn the united states in a prison camp state. >> rather than using check points at terminals it's more effective to use vo-tech

knowledge and law enforcement surveillance on social media to find threats. >> it's a useful program, some say it violates privacy but i think if done in the proper way it does save lives. >> he is a former deputy with the department of homeland security. he says it would be more effective. once you put it out there you move the soft targets to outside of the terminal. >> thank you john. now to "action news" reporter, vernon odom, at 30th street station, what are you seeing there tonight. >> monica, same as i have been seeing all day, quiet and a lot of tension in the air here, security beefed up here dramatically and on high alert, and all the officers are armed and on high alert and the terminal is full of nervous

riders on edge. >> all the signs are dramatically beefed up security today. always heavily armed cops are visible here and so too are the bomb sniffing dogs but the levels of deployment here and across the nation are at the maximum level in the wake of this morning's massacres in belgium. bill was just in belgium's airport on friday. >> i worked in new york on 9/11, and you kind of get numb to it a little bit. have you to go on, you can't give in. >> it has shaken up many who ride the rails during the week. mike came in from penn station this morning to a smaller scale on 30th street. >> i'm happy that new york is quite vigilant, i really am but i can't help but being concerned. >> we found new englanders not able to put the bomb attacks out of their minds.

shoulder of the highway and the driver of the truck suffered minor injuries. police arrested two teens in connection with a northeast philadelphia school and 16-year-old jonathan rojas and joshua sanchez face several charges tonight after police say they conspired to shoot a 12-year-old. police say the two approached the victim and offered him narcotics and then a fight broke out and called a man that arrived with a gun and shot the victim in the leg. the philadelphia police department has work to do, that is the word tonight from commissioner richard ross, the reaction comes after a new court ordered report found continued racial bias in the stop and frisk practices. 33% of all stops and 42% of all frisks were reportedly made without reasonable suspicion and the aclu says they will seek
