we've made it to monday. i'm kendis gibson. >> and i'm reena ninan. we're going to begin with the deadly easter suicide attack in pakistan in a park in the city of lahore. it was crowded with christians celebrating the holidays. >> a pakistani faction of the taliban has claimed responsibility. this morning at least 65 people are dead in this attack, many of them we're told children. more than 300 others were injured. schools and businesses in the city are closed today as investigators begin their work. >> we are very, very sad and feeling so upset because it's a day of our worship. as the a day of our believe festival and they have attacked on the innocent people. >> officials have no knowledge of a specific threat against the park before the attack. many of the wounded are in critical condition. so citizens there are being asked to donate blood. now to brussels where the structure of the airport that was damaged in last week's bombing has been declared

stable. the airport isn't expected to reopen before tomorrow at earliest. there have been violent clashes in center the of brussels, anger at those responsible for the attacks boiling over. abc's alex marquardt reports. >> reporter: the quiet of easter sunday broken as hundreds of far-right, flag-waving soccer hooligans descended on the memorial site in downtown brussels. >> we're fed up. we're all fed up. it's enough. enough is enough. >> reporter: chanting against isis. a peace rally scheduled for the same time had been cancelled, the police spread too thin. instead, riot police had to deal with the aggressive crowd. this mood that was so somber for the past few days has now been completely shattered. there's a lot more anger and division, these hooligans, as they call themselves, many of them skinheads and masked, saying that the people who have come here in peace simply don't understand. >> everyone that's not belgian, because this is belgium, if you don't want to live like us, go. >> reporter: with sound grenades and water cannon, the hooligans

were pushed back, throwing rocks and bottles, and breaking shop windows. the racially-charged anger, directed at resident muslims in the wake of last week's isis-linked attacks. now, the international manhunt intensifying. the italian authority z arresting a man who they say forged documents for the paris and brussels attackers. in holland, a frenchman arrested for planning an attack. and across belgium, nine were deaned in more than a dozen raids. abc news has also learned that the one brussels attack suspect in custody faycal chef shoe had been detained for trying to recruit refugees for jihad. many questions still remain. who is the attacker in the hat from the airport? and who was the man at the metro station who fled? this weekend, answers for one american family. justin and stephanie shults from kentucky, unaccounted for all week, confirmed dead in the airport attack. president obama called the shultses to offer his condolences.

york. so residents along one street north of tampa, florida, say they are living in fear because of hawks. it's the second year in a row that hawks have come to nest on renowned way in the community of spring hill. the residents say the animals are making going outside dangerous by dive bombing them. some of the elderly are taking drastic measures to stay safe. >> one of the gentleman is 88 years old. and he's been hit so hard, he had to go to the hospital, get a tetanus shot. now he wears a pith helmet just to get to his mailbox and back inside his house. >> it seems the birds are going to be around for a while. wildlife officials don't remove the parent hawks till their eggs hatch and their young mature. till then, there's very little that can be done. >> don't separate those babies from their mamas. >> what state was that. >> come on. you're not going to do that. pick on me now. >> was it florida?

pageant officials say her college work is getting in the way of her performing her duties. those are some of our top stories on this monday, march 28th. >> announcer: from abc news, this is "world news now." good monday morning, everyone. we're going to start this half hour with some ugly scenes that played out over the weekend in the aftermath of the terror attacks in brussels. the peaceful square where last week's victims were being honored, the scene of a loud demonstration by far right extremists. >> they blame muslims for the attack. abc's aaron katersky has the latest. >> the chaos broke out early in brussels when nationalist protests descended on the square where belgians have been pledging solidarity and mourning victims of the attacks. demonstrators tried to change the tone chanting against immigrants and muslims and giving nazi i salutes. police fired water cannons to clear them from the plaza. the protests briefly interrupted

the serenity of easter a respite from what the archbishop called the use less suffering caused by terrorism. pope francis denounced violence he called blind and brutal saying peace would triumph over evil. elsewhere in italy, police arrested a man accused of supplying the brussels attackers with fake documents while belgian police conducted new searches and four people were held for questioning. prosecutors charged this man shot by police last week as a sat at a trolley stop with taking part in terror activities. most of the victims of tuesday's attacks have now been identified. including stephanie and justin shults of kentucky who had been unaccounted for until this weekend. >> it just turned my heart out of my chest. i just miss seeing his beautiful smile. police and soldiers are now a constant presence. the belgians admitted to neglecting security in the past, leaving the country vulnerable

story citing rumors that cruz engaged in multiple marital infidelities, which cruz denies. >> the national enquirer has endorsed donald trump for president. the article quotes roger stone who organized and planned donald trump's presidential campaign. >> reporter: stone told abc news he wasn't the source of the story but is quoted saying the story would hurt cruz with evangelical voters. trump again insists he's not behind it either. >> i had nothing to do with it. the campaign had absolutely nothing to do with it. he's got a problem with the national enquirer. i have no control over the national enquirer. i didn't even know about the story. >> trump and cruz will both campaign this week in wisconsin, a big state up for grabs. 42 delegates, winner take all. if cruz can beat trump in wisconsin and makes a contested republican convention this summer that much more likely. devin device, abc news, washington. and one more political note. donald trump is threatening to sue the republican party in a battle over the way delegates are being awarded in the state of louisiana.

trump won than state by four points but ted cruz could end up with more delegates. trump and cruz were initially awarded 18 delegates apiece. since marco rubio dropped out, there's word his five delegates will likely go to cruz as well as five other delegates that are still up for grabs. >> that's a lot of math. >> yeah. they're all figuring it out though. >> police in tampa are looking for a group of car thieves seen on videotape stealing eight cars. as the tape shows they don't appear to be seasoned criminals. here's abc's lauren lyster. >> a man hunt for a group of suspected teenage thieves in the midst of a brazen and sometimes bunglingburg two of them enter through a window. police say the one in the bottom corner finding a box with the box with all the keys on the lot. several more scurry to match the

this battle. >> tony, what's going on. >> reporter: for tony jones, life keeps getting better. >> you're looking good. >> reporter: it was three months ago when we first met up with tony, a veteran of the indirect fire infantry. he had been living on the streets of washington, d.c. for years. >> did you ever think you'd end up like this homeless living out in a tent? >> not in a million years. >> the light switch is right here. >> reporter: that was his last day of living in a makeshift tent. >> please come in my casa. >> reporter: before the day was over, he moved into an apartment paid for by a veterans administration voucher. >> i feel like james brown. i feel good. >> reporter: this looks a little different than the last time i was hanging out with you. >> i'm living large now. i'm living large. >> reporter: with some help from friends and miriam's kitchen the organization that helped him get this apartment, he has been able to furnish it, stock his kitchen. >> a bunch of different seasonings.

>> look at the spice racks going. >> reporter: get hearing aids for the loss he suffered in the army. >> man, that's a whole new world, man. these things are great. >> reporter: reconnect with family. >> you saw your brother? >> yeah, i saw my brother. i saw my oldest brother and i've been talking to my other brothers, too. i even spoke to my sisters. >> reporter: and he's gotten steady work as a bicycle courier for a local law firm. >> he's a hard worker. we didn't know he was homeless. he would never let you know. proud man. always there. give him a call, he runs right over. works. doing what he can to keep himself going. >> reporter: local homeless activists make a weekly trip to the offices of the d.c. government where they withdraw little green men from a large bucket. each toy soldier representing one homeless veteran living on streets of washington, d.c. 94 and 95. >> reporter: in this week they counted out 95 more that have been placed in permanent housing since we met tony last december.

>> you set a very audacious goal to, end homelessness for veterans in washington. >> in the past 21/2 years, we've haased 1500 veterans in washington, d.c. and expect weekend homelessness by the end of this year. >> reporter: back at tony's place, surrounded by friends, his smile relays the pride that comes from having a home. up on the hill, man, love it. >> on top of the world. >> reporter: absolutely. >> yeah. >> reporter: jonathan karl, abc news, washington. >> he really does make a difference for them. about 23% i'd say of the homeless population made up of veterans so it's a really large number. >> 6% served three or more years. that's a lot of time and then to come back and not have a place of their own. >> they served for three years overseas and then come back. >> three or more years. >> a whole new battle once they get back here. >> yeah, very true.

we're going to begin this half hour with the deadly easter suicide attack in pakistan. it happened in a park in the city of lahore. it was crowded with christians celebrating the holidays. >> a pakistani faction of the taliban has claimed responsibility. this morning at least 65 people are dead in this attack, many of them we're told children. more than 300 others were injured. schools and businesses in the city are closed today as investigators begin their work. >> we are very, very sad and feeling so upset because it's the day of our worship. it's the day of our belief and festival and they have attacked the innocent people. >> officials have no knowledge of a specific threat against the park before the attack. many of the wounded are in critical condition. so citizens there are being asked to donate blood. now to brussels where the structure of the airport that was heavily damaged in last

so residents along one street north of tampa, florida, say they are living in fear because of hawks. it's the second year in a row that hawks have come to nest on renown way in the community of spring hill. the residents say the animals are making going outside dangerous by dive bombing them. some of the elderly are taking drastic measures to stay safe. >> one of the gentleman is 88 years old. and he's been hit so hard, he had to go to the hospital, get a tetanus shot. now he wears a pith helmet just to get to his mailbox and back inside his house. >> it seems the birds are going to be around for a while. wildlife officials don't remove the protective parent hawks until their eggs hatch and their young mature. until then, there's very little that can be done. >> don't separate those babies from their mamas. >> where was that? what state was that? >> come on. you're not going to do this. pick on me now. >> was it florida?
