when they heard gun shots. it spread panic among the crowd and an immediate and overwhelming response by capitol police. monday night, the big story on "action news" tonight is the latest on today's lockdown in the nation's capital. the police flooded the entrance to the visitor's center and immediately ordered the shelter in place for the entire complex. what happened, a man identified as 66-year-old larry dawson from tennessee sent off the alarm and when he was stopped he pulled a gun and there was chaos. >> and the shooter and we ran out. and as we came out they said back against the wall. >> pandemonium, and they were pushing us out.

>> it was scary hearing that over the loud speaker. at the end of the day i think they did the best given the circumstances. >> it turns out dawson no stranger to capitol police. interrupting the house proceedings last fall saying he was the prophet of god. and the tri-state area lashed tonight by howling winds only up to 50 miles an hour as the storm blows towards canada. an advisory in effect as the whipping winds continue into tomorrow. the gusty winds will strong enough to topple a metal billboard in bucks county, in turn taking down some power lines and utilities poles happening around 7:00 at airport and runway roads. no power outages were reported. meanwhile, the wind may be responsible for blowing debris on to a car in the section of

philadelphia and smashing a windshield at 4th at 5:00 under the site of a construction project. a wind advisory remains in effect at this point. cecily tynan outside with the blustery details from accuweather. >> certainly very impressive. peak wind gusts in philadelphia of 46 miles per hour. newtown square even stronger up to 53 miles per hour. wilmington 51. pottstown 48. millville, a peak wind gust of 45 miles per hour. so that wind advisory remains in effect for really our entire viewing area for the next hour for the wind gusts up near 50 miles per hour. and even tomorrow is going to be a blustery day. and the same system bringing us about a half inch of rain this morning, really two lows that have consolidated and they are really gaining strength over nova scotia creating the

wind-tunnel effect. what to expect tomorrow. windy but not as strong as tonight. winds generally 15-30 miles per hour with gusts up to 35 miles per hour. but as you're driving around later tonight, early tomorrow morning, watch out for debris on roads. strong enough winds to pull down some of the smaller tree branches. i will talk about the cooler air moving in with the winds in the full accuweather seven-day forecast, jim. >> thank you, cecily. the police in west deptford, new jersey charging a man with aggravated assault after a video of a violent attack of a teenager went viral on the internet. and live is christie alletto. what is the latest here? >> jim, we first aired the video last week. to date it had more than 5 million viewers. and paul cojocaru admitted it is him in the video and his attorney says he was remorseful for his actions.

>> the graphic video posted last week has paul cojocaru charged with assault and terroristic threats. and video showing he was beating a boy in a home. >> he admitted to it, yes. >> and they won't detail but say the pair are acquaintances. >> not a family member, not that they always hang out together. they have a mutual friend and that's where they were the night it happened. >> are you going to the cops? >> and the attorney tells "action news" his client is a fitness enthusiast and not an mma fighter and that he was over reacting to something that happened at a 3:00 a.m. party. and it wasn't until immediately after the incident that he realized what he had done was wrong. stopping by cojocaru's listed address, but no one answered. and saying i feel it is odd they were offended by the violence and offering further violence as

a solution. and the police say the 17-year-old is ok and cojocaru is out on bond. reporting live in west deptford for channel 6 "action news." >> thank you. a multi-vehicle accident shutdown the platte memorial bridge. four cars collided in the westbound lanes and one overturned in the middle of the bridge at 8:30. a 17 and 27-year-old were both taken to the hospital. investigators have determined yet what caused the pile-up. the delaware state police, a despicable invasion of privacy case in a restaurant. at moe's southwest grill they found a small camera in the lady's room. they viewed the memory card and images of 100 women using the bathroom. a franchise owner tells "action news" he is cooperating with the police but no comment. the american airlines co-pie

plot taken off a flight charged with operating under the influence. 50-year-old john maguire he is courting from his plane at detroit metropolitan airport and the officials cancelled the flight. it turns out that maguire is from chadds ford. everybody got their say about the conestoga hazing scandal. parents and school officials meeting face-to-face and some parents showing support for the fired football staff. and live to con -- to conestoga high school and what did you learn there tonight? >> a closed-door meeting, the officials are coming up with a district-wide program to prevent future incidents of hazing. there were many who believe the coach and staff should not have been let go for a shortcoming of the school district administration. >> my heart is with the coach. i know what a great quality person he is and all the staff. and this is a great school and i continue to be very proud and

grateful that i have a child here. >> it was earlier this month that the chester county d.a., tom hogan, gave a description ever a culture of hazing in the varsity football program, one going on three or four years. thursday when the locker room was not supervised. anything the kids considered gay was not gay. and last october, three 17-year-old members of the team held down a 14-year-old freshman and violated him with a brook handle. the atmosphere was so bad, some players refused to go anywhere near the locker room on thursday. some quit the team. yet the coaching staff says they were not aware. the coach resigned and others relieved of duties through the fall season. some believe the administration is to blame. >> there was talk about the administration's, you know, role in this. that they really didn't do a good job creating the policies and procedures for the coaches to follow.

temperature university selected an architect for its proposed football stadium. university officials announced in a press release that it is going with the architect call firm moody nolan completing projects at more than 100 universities including penn state and vanderbilt and they voted to spend up to $1 million to study the possibility of a 35,000-seat stadium in the northwest corner of campus. the project should cost about $126 million. campbell soup will stop using the chemical dpa in its canned goods over health concerns over customers. the f.d.a. insisted that bta is safe at food-grade levels. and campbell has used for over 40 years, but many worry it may raise the risk of cancer and who
