in secane. trying to find out more about the murder of a 36-year-old woman found dead in the shower. it is wednesday night, and the big story on "action news" tonight is strangulation in secane. it has been years since the last homicide in this delaware county community. "action news" reporter, christie ileto, is live at the scene of the crime. christie, what is the story there? >> well jim, police were alerted when the woman's co-workers reported she hadn't shown up for work. when they arrived they discovered the gruesome scene. >> there is blood throughout the apartment. >> beaten and strangled the police discovered the naked body of a 36-year-old woman in her shower at the apartments in secane. the detectives believe she knew her attacker. >> everybody down there, total chaos. >> and not wanting her face on

camera, but outside all day before the police swarmed the complex. >> you haven't seen any activity in that house? >> no activity whatsoever here today. none whatsoever. >> i couldn't believe it. >> still the violent homicide left residents rattled. >> really surprised, it is a shocker. >> it is very quiet here, very peacef peaceful. when i am home in the evening we sit out all night, never experience anything like this. >> residents say she recently moved here and lived alone. the last time seen alive late last night, christie ileto reporting for channel 6 news." >> thank you. violence erupted on the streets of wilmington. a man shot several times at 9:30 in the 1100 block of elm street. paramedics rushed him to christiana hospital in very critical condition. the police searching for shell case and other things in the search of the gunman.

ordering everybody out at the same wilmington apartment complex where four people were killed by carbon monoxide last week. and the law enforcement officers said buildings were unsafe and told residents they need to find a new place to live. a 5-year-old girl on the mend after struck by a car at 1th and ontario just before 7:00. authorities say the girl is in stable condition. they are still investigating whether charges are warranted. he was more than a good samaritan this morning on the broad street subway. he was a lifesafer, plain and simple. of the rittenhouse square murder heading to trial. steven simminger had his preliminary hearing today. prosecutors say simminger stabbed 24-year-old colin mcgovern to death in cold blood at 3:00 a.m. on march 18 and simminger's attorneys argue it is self-defense and the video shows mcgovern the aggressive in the altercation. that stabbing death and other alleged incidents of violent or addreggressive homel people in the park prompted the meeting of the friends of rittenhouse square at the presbyterian church. police philadelphia, city agency officials and a councilmember answered questions about safety in their neighborhood. donald trump backtracked from statement causing a firestorm earlier today. statements to the effect that women who get abortions should be punished should abortion be ever outloud. it was trump's exchange, here it is with interviewer chris matthews.

tonight we are hearing the 911 call that led to an arrest in a hit and run that killed a new jersey teenager. monday night, 16-year-old quason turner was struck and killed. it happened near route 130 and 49th street in pennsauken. behind the wheel was susan hyland and her niece called 911. >> i am the owner of the car. i wasn't driving, but my aunt was driving and hit someone. >> oh, ok. they hit someone, like a person? >> yes.

>> or a vehicle? >> a person. >> from that call, police zeroed in on her location and arrested hyland. quason turner was a student at pennsauken high school. atlantic city man going to prison for forcing seven women into a life of prostitution at the jersey shore. donnie bethea received a sentence for up to 20 years in jail for human trafficking, sexual assaults, weapons charge and probation violation. the authorities say he used threats of violence to hold women against their will and force them to have sex for money. he wanted the selfie of a lifetime. 26-year-old ben innes grinned ear-to-ear standing next to an accused hijacker on a flight tuesday and forcing it to land in cypress. saying he wanted a momento of the experience. the suicide belt was fake but
