ohio. >> sanders continues to receive overwhelming support from young people. exit polls show him winning big among men and whites under the age of 35. >> nearly nine out of ten democrats identified him as honest and trustworthy while 57% said the same about clinton. abc's rick klein takes a look at what it all means going forward. so we say good morning, rick. >> reporter: reena and kendis, a sweeping victory for ted cruz in wisconsin makes a contested convention on republican side more likely than ever. by far the biggest loss donald trump has suffered in a big battleground state a state he thought he had an opportunity to win. it throws the republican nomination into some sort of chaos. trump now with a narrower path than ever and ted cruz mostly benefiting from being what he was not, namely donald trump and beginning to coalesce the republican party giving him big momentum heading into the voting calendar. on the democratic side, bernie sanders' win in wisconsin gives him his biggest winning streak

so as far of the cycle. six out of the seven of the last states have gone for bernie sanders despite the overwhelming lead clinton has. hillary clinton remains the strong front-runner but a message being delivered by democratic vote ares they are not happy with the choice they're being offered in hillary clinton. bernie sanders now getting himself some momentum going into a critical two-week stretch. the new york primary, a home game for both donald trump and for hillary clinton coming up in two weeks time. that could determine the course of the rest of the nomination, but for now, at least for last night, to have the two front-runners suffer this kind of defeat this kind of humbling at the hands of their main opponents have quite surprising. reena and kendis. >> new yorkers can get ready for all those commercials over the next couple weeks. >> i like how he put it, a home game. >> will they have home field advantage? >> i like that. >> the democrats had 86 delegates at stake in wisconsin and on the republican side, there were 42 i blue eb up for

grabs. >> so let's take a look at the count so far. on the republican side, donald trump holds the lead but he would need to win 60% of the remaining delegates to clinch the nomination. >> and for the democrats, hillary clinton has a large lead when super delegates are factored in. despite sanders' winning 15 states so far to clinton's 18 states. well, this morning, there already also political fire works in alabama. there are new efforts to remove the governor from office over a sex scandal. a state lawmakers filed articles of impeachment against governor robert bentley. he admits he made suggestive you be comments to a former aide but denies a fair. he vows to defend himself. the prime minister of iceland appears to be the first political victim of the so-called panama papers scandal stepping aside for an unspecified amount of time. that move comes amid protests over his use of an offshore company to shelter large sums of economy while their economy was in crisis. word of that deal was part of a

massive document leak from a law firm in panama. >> back in the states, mississippi's latest one to face a backlash due to a new law seen as anti-gay. the state's religious freedom law allows businesses and government workers to deny services based on their religious beliefs. it has the support of most residents but has come under heavy fire from lgbt advocates and major corporations including chevron and nissan. georgia's governor vetoed a similar law under pressure from corporations. and san francisco will become the first city in the nation to offer a full six-week paid parental leave. the board of supervisors unanimously approved the law which goes into effect next year. some of the costs will be picked up by the state. the rest will be paid for by businesses. and an attorney for retired soccer star abby wambach entered a not guilty plea on her half in response to her dui charge. on twitter she calls her plea

it is the morning's top story. decisive victories for ted cruz and bernie sanders in the wisconsin primaries. ted cruz picked up nearly all of the state's republican delegates. narrowing donald trump's path to the nomination. and making a contested convention very much likely. sanders' victory gives him a new wave of momentum ahead of the next key contest in new york in two weeks. he's still trailing hillary clinton by far in the count. >> a u.s. army veteran from houston says she was kicked off a spirit airlines flight out of denver because of her support dog. june nay fowler says she believes her pitbull lab mix ziggy marlee was profiled. all the more frustrating was the fact she and ziggy and her boyfriend had no problem flying out to denver on the same

it's wednesday, april 6th. >> announcer: from abc news, this is "world news now." >> top of the morning. i'm kendis gibson. >> i'm reena ninan. >> you know, i was reading a political magazine, had a great take. we're heading to a brokered convention. they looked back to the last brokered convention wifrls an incumbent, gerald ford and ronald reagan. these are some of the vignettes. it says that somebody was there at the time, when it went on for hours with a melee in the hallways and at one point, one of the four children reportedly threw trash at the texas delegates. >> wow. >> reality television at its finest. >> we can only hope for something like that. >> we're going to begin with the winners and losers in wisconsin. donald trump and hillary clinton each suffering a bruising defeat. >> bernie sanders had a sweeping victory in virtually every county across the state. as sanders thanked supporters last night, he called the big win a sign of mounting momentum. >> and ted cruz characterized his victory as a turning point

and rallying cry, barnstorming the state paid off for cruz soundly beating trump. he picked up nearly all of the state's 42 republican delegates. the trump campaign is not taking the loss gracefully. in a statement overnight, they caused cruz a trojan horse saying he's being used by party bosses to steal the nomination from trump. >> and continued to call him lying ted. and the trump campaign also accused cruz of illegally coordinating with super pacs. it's your voice, your vote. abc's tom llamas has more from milwaukee. >> reporter: seeksitiment and jubilation here at the senator ted cruz watch party in milwaukee, wisconsin, a huge night for the texas senator and a huge loss for donald trump. with this victory, cruz makes the argument that he can take this race possibly all the way to the convention floor. >> either before cleveland or at the convention in cleveland, together, we will win a majority of the delegates and together, we will beat hillary clinton in november.

[ applause ] >> reporter: donald trump said he had felt good about wisconsin. oh had campaigned very hard in the last few days here in this midwest battleground state. >> the people of wisconsin are amazing. they want to see strong borders. they don't want other countries taking all their jobs and manufacturing. >> reporter: he also said there would be a surprise but there was no surprise. cruz won just like the preelection polls showed he would. now cruz just told me that the message he has for donald trump is really not his message. it's the message of the wisconsin voters that this race is far from over. back to you. >> our thanks to tom in wisconsin. bernie sanders must still get 67% of the remaining delegates and uncommitted super delegates to win the nomination. he's hoping to ride the wave of momentum all the way to the convention. >> sanders celebrated his win at a raucous rally in wyoming ahead of saturday's democratic caucus. abc's maryalice parks covers the sarnds campaign for us and she's there in wyoming.

>> reporter: it was a celebration tonight for bernie sanders and his campaign at the university here in laramie, wyoming. the senator started announcing his win in wisconsin, thanking fans for victory there. but then he pivoted back here to wyoming and said that the state here could give him a boost going into new york in a few weeks. >> we have won almost all of them with overwhelming landslide numbers. >> reporter: sanders' win in wugs which is obviously giving him the momentum. here's what he said about that. >> what momentum is about is that at a time in contemporary politics when every major candidate has a super pac, we have said no to super pacs, said no to the billionaires who fund those super pacs. >> reporter: sanders talked about his record-breaking number of small donations and pointed to polls that have him defeating donald trump by large margins.

>> when you look at national polls or you look at statewide polls, we are defeating donald trump by very significant numbers. defeating donald trump by very significant >> reporter: sanders said he thought clinton was getting nervous because he believe ez has an excellent chance to win both here in wyoming and he said in new york. reena, kendis. >> our thanks there. and hillary clinton spent last night in her home state of new york looking ahead to the next big primary. >> but clinton tweeted her congratulations to sanders and thanked her supporters in wisconsin. abc's liz kreutz covers the clinton campaign for us. good morning, liz. >> reporter: good morning. hillary clinton's campaign expected this loss in wisconsin but it doesn't make it any better. she has now lost six out of the last seven contests. that's something her campaign aides are quickly trying to move on from. in fact, last night, clinton didn't even have a campaign event and said she attended a private fund-raiser here in new york.

earlier in the day, she held a town hall in brooklyn where she made no mention of wisconsin but did go after her potential future opponent, donald trump. >> the fellow who's from new york, i wish he would get out of one of his towers and actually walk the streets and spend time with the people of this city because peddlining prejudice and paranoia is not the new york way. >> and she now has her sights on the upcoming primary in new york. she and sanders have finally agreed to debate in brooklyn next week. that's a place with close ties to both of them. it's where clinton's campaign headquarters were based and where sanders was born. >> our thanks to liz. exit polls show that the economy is weighing heavily on the voters from both parties. >> nearly 3/4 of democrats said they were worried about the economy. that's compared to nine in ten republicans. and 30% of wisconsin voters across the board named the economy and jobs as the nation's top problem.

>> moving on now, investigators searching for the cause of the helicopter crash in tennessee say the aircraft may have come into contact with the top of a ridge on the side of a mountain. four passengers and the pilot died when the chopper crashed and burned. the fact there's not much left of the helicopter complicates the investigation. the ntsb expects a preliminary report by the end of next week. breaking news from oklahoma. a massive wildfire is raging out of control. more than a dozen homes on the prairie have been evacuated. but more are in the path of the blaze along with a chemical plant. heavy machinery operator apparently barely escaped with his life. it's believed that the fire started when a downed power line began to spark. there are other smaller fires on the kansas side of the border. a new dashcam video this morning shows a frightening rollover crash in missouri. the police officer tried to pull over the driver who refused to stop and then, you see it there,
