with it obviously comes some rather cold temperatures. meteorologist melissa magee in for adam joseph live with the latest from accuweather. hi, melissa. >> hi, brian and sharrie. hard to believe that in our spring season we are talking about winter making a come back. here's what's going on. storstorm tracker6 live radar shows a clipper system moving across the great lakes. this wie will work its way eastward as we head into our weekend as early as tomorrow we'll be tracking the rain and wet snow. future tracker six time it out for you, 7 o'clock in the morning we have a mixed bag of precipitation approaching philadelphia butter if you're south and east of the city it's all rain and to the north and west we have snow pressing into our region. we'll go over expected precipitation type. again if you're in south jersey and into delaware, it looks to be a mostly rain event for you but snow and rain right along that battle zone along that i-95 corridor and to the north and west

we'll be dealing with that wet snow for much of our northwest suburbs. we'll go ohio river valley the if i'm line as far as expected snowfall on the way. six. to 9:00 a.m. the light snow and rain. nine too many 5 o'clock in the evening is when you'll find the steadiest of the snow and rain. 5 o'clock tomorrow evening through 9 p.m. the snow showers will start to taper off from a west-east direction so this looks like a prolonged event of wintry precipitation across our region and the kind of precipitation we see depends on where you live and where we have the greatest lift meaning the greatest upward motion is where we can find heavier snowfall accumulations. a closer look at that in the full and exclusive accuweather forecast. brian. >> melissa thank you. with snow showers in the forecast stay with 6abc.com/weather and storm tracker six live radar for the very latest and follow the members of our "action news" weather team on facebook and twitter for the latest update updates. >> ♪

market street this afternoon to share this magic moment with the villanova wildcats. team members hoisted the championship trophy above their heads and moved from side to side on that double decker bus so fans could get a look at them in person. >> i was here 85. it's like deja vu for me. i love the city. >> i just liked that every unwaeveryonewas happy. it was a great parade. this isn't just a great parade this is history. >> reporter: fans cheered the wildcats sharing their electric win in the last second of monday's final against north carolina. >> i look up there and i see people dumping confetti everyone is yelling more confetti. it was so crazy and awesome. >> it's awesome. it's just terrific and i'm so happy for the kids at school. >> the camaraderie, the people are all into this, they really support villanova. it was a fantastic story. >> nova, v-i-l-l-a-n-o-a it's

they're coming back one very happy crowd, john. >> reporter: very happy crowd. big smiles, jubilant fans. this has been quite a day. it's been quite a week. it's been quite a season. >> go cats, go. whew. >> reporter: nova nation in motion. fans packing septa trains today heading to center city. >> got to see our cats, see our wildcats, cried and cheer if i have any voice left at all. >> reporter: some had preparade plans. >> going to get some doughnuts and we're going celebrate our win. >> we want to get there really early so we can see everything. >> we want to get a good spot. >> reporter: by 11:00 a.m., there were long, long lines. septa called in stand by trains to deal with the surge in passengers. >> train should be pulling in about 10 minutes. >> reporter: you're running quite a few people here today. >> yeah, we should get another thousand on this one easy. >> reporter: not everyone arrived early however. hundreds it can can it very close making it to the station

here by noontime. >> so, we may have hit snooze one too many times this morning. >> reporter: then there were some snags, packed trains from wayne passed by without stopping leaving fans to at least consider other ways of getting to the celebration on time. >> we are very indecisive at this point. we might drive down like seven of us in my five-vehicle car. >> that's a bad idea. >> reporter: after further debate those young ladies decided to stick with mass transit. it was probably better to take mass transit than drive. hopefully they got to the celebration on time. live in villanova, john rawlins channel6 "action news." back to you all. >> john, thank you. >> you know, two other of our friends had a really pretty good vantage point on all the action down there today. >> yes. in the middle of it all our own alicia vitarelli and gray hall have been at dillworth park all day right among the crowds and of course we know alicia, this is your school. >> reporter: yes, and as an

alum of the school i could not be more proud than to show you this shirt. this is what this day was all about villanova wildcats champions 2016 and we're partying like it's 2016. >> you see some of the fans still here. it was exciting. it was wild. folks were clearing and yelling and of course v is for victory. this starter about 1 o'clock. some started lining up well before then. >> reporter: you couldn't even imagine the crowd. it was absolutely left lane electric or as gray has been calling it. >> reporter: electric fiction. >> reporter: i like it. we were told to expect crowds of about 50,000. cops today telling us upwards of 70,000 people packed this area just to see those champion wildcats make their way through. >> reporter: when the fans showed up, i mean, at dillworth park you heard the excitement, you felt the energy. they were all waiting to hear from those players and the coach. >> reporter: and that's exactly what we heard from those players, so proud, their

parents beaming and the big moment when they took the stage. >> it's been an honor to be a part of this team, part of this coaching staff. we put a lot of hard work in this year and this is something that nobody ever will be able to take weigh from us and whenever you teach your kids to shoot just tell them one-two step and let it fly. >> we'll celebrate the last shot of the season and then like we always do after that everybody we're going to put our v's up and play the fight song like we end every game. [cheers and applause] >> reporter: okay and so the celebration no doubt actually will continue and this is not only a local event, this is a national event. president barack obama inviting the wildcats to the white house to personally thank the entire team. and say congratulations. even though he didn't pick them in the bracket. >> reporter: that's okay. although mayor kenney did admit he picked villanova.

everything is back in business. we're just dealing with lingering congestion in that area around city hall and the septa buses still recovering. they're pretty much back to normal but a few detours do remain and of course expect exat a people on those regional rails especially the paoli thorndale line and the norristown high speedline this afternoon as they head out of town after the big celebration. if you're headed toward town on 95 southy southbound slowing by woodhaven because of earlier police activity. everything is cleared out now but still heavy traffic really in both directions. there's a crash involving a pedestrian in pottstown along high at beach and one involving an overturned vehicle on 55 southbound by deptford. it's mostly off to the side but still coming off of 42 things are extra heavy because of that accident. let's grab the ipad do the commuter report on this friday afternoon, a big friday around here and in east falls reports of a crash along henry avenue near queen lane. some volume to accompany that as you can see. we'll check it again, brian and sharrie, coming up in the next half hour. >> very good, matt. thank you. you have been sending in your pictures and videos as

helping you pursue it, is ours. t-i-a-a. >> ♪ >> you are looking at the end of a highway police chase in bucks county. police were after some thieves who may have taken a large sum of money in jewelry from somewhere in bristol township. officers pursued their car along i-95 at a bensalem. three suspects were taken into custody right there near the exit for woodhaven road. >> a key suspect in the paris terror attacks has been arrested in belgium. police say mohammed abrini is in custody. he's the final identified fugitive linked to the paris attacks in november. french officials believe he was also involved in the brussels airport bombing last month. they say he could be the mysterious man in the hat who was captured on surveillance video. >> a u.s. airman opened fire today killing his commander and himself at a air force

base in san antonio. officials are investigating the shooting as a murder-suicide and stressing that this was not an act of terrorism. they say two handguns were found near the victim's bodies at joint base san antonio lack land. so far no other details about the victims or the circumstances have been released. >> well, how about this video here? do you remember it? it was viral and it was a midair brawl. passengers involved are now suing spirit airlines saying flight attendants overserved a group of passengers. the flight started when the -- the fight startd when three women allegedly blasted music from a bluetooth speaker and then refused to turn it down. well, despite requests from fellow passengers, those three passengers who complained then got into a fight. then say spirit airlines was negligent and caused them emotional distress. >> i am upset that the spirit airlines failed to protect us. steady our safety and instead

continued to serve the women in front of us alcoholic beverages, even though they were clearly intoxicated and behaving aggressively. >> so far spirit airlines has not commented on the lawsuit. high profile attorney gloria allred is representing the plaintiffs. she says they are asking for compensation and punitive damages. >> millions of netflix subscribers will see their bills go up next month and most of them have no idea. the hike is part of a planned increase impacting about 17 million people. netflix started to raise the price of its standard plan almost two years ago and existing subscribers were grandfathered in. in may those users will start paying $9.99 a month instead of $7.99. a recent survey from jp morgan shows 80 percent of customers did not know the price hike was coming. here's something most of us have never heard before. for the first time in almost a hundred years the price of a

stamp is going down. starting sunday regular stamp will cost 47 cents instead of 49. postcard and international mail rates will also be lower. the change is the result of an expiring surcharge put in place to help the postal service recoup billions of dollars in losses. closing numbers on wall street today and green arrows, up, up, up. the dow up 35 even on the day. the nasdaq up just about two points. the s & p 500 closing just about six points higher on the day. >> all right. it's friday. we are thinking about the weekend. time for a check of the accuweather forecast you. >> may not want to think about the weather this weekend. meteorologist melissa magee in for adam joseph with the details. >> brian and sharrie we were saying earlier that if we cover our eyes maybe it really isn't happening but unfortunately we are tracking some april snow and some snow showers. here's what's going on outside as we look at the temperatures. it's 50 currently in philadelphia.

to the north and west 45 in allentown, 47 in lancaster and also into reading. at the coast in cape may coming in at 50 degrees. the winds have been pretty constant today out of the westerly direction. they are sustained at about 14 miles per hour in allentown, 13 in dover and as high as 20 miles per hour in philadelphia. and the winds will be with us as we go throughout the day on saturday. more specifically saturday night. here's satellite6 along with action radar. our next feature that we are tracking is off to our west. we've got an area of low pressure that's currently coming out of the great lakes. you can see the snow pressing into chicago, some rain to the south moving into the ohio valley. this will work its way eastward and it arrives toward dawn and it continues throughout the day on saturday. so, the call from accuweather over the next 12 hours, those clouds will thicken. rain and snow is likely as we go throughout the overnight hours. we'll drop down to 30 in the suburbs and 38 in philadelphia for the overnight low. those winds are very i can't believvariable.7 o'clock in thet

rain the mixed precip even the snow still south and west of philadelphia at that time with a temperature at about 38 degrees. 11 o'clock in the morning that i-95 corridor skirting right on that rain-snow mix line but snow and snow showers north and west of that 95 core do. looks to be all rain south and east with temps at about 47 in millville at that time. 3:30 tomorrow afternoon you notice on the backside of the storm system as it starts to pull away you get some cold air funneling southward, there could be some heavier pockets of snowfall that's set up for that 95 corridor and areas to the north and west and then it will start to dissipate from a west-east direction on saturday night. so, expected snowfall, we have adjusted this map somewhat. a few flakes are possible for areas in south jersey and delaware. otherwise wise it's mostly rain for you. a coating to an inch for philadelphia. if you're north of philadelphia right along that turnpike to i80, you could find anywhere from two to 4 inches of snow for reading allentown and up through the

>> ♪ >> police have just released the identity of one person killed in a horrific crash on columbus boulevard today. 23-year-old ben jimmy died along with another female passenger in this car just before 3 o'clock this morning. police say a 23-year-old

driver was speeding when she lost control of her mazda and crashed into a peco building. an "action news" viewer caught the crash on camera. you can see the car bouncing off the building and coming to rest on the sidewalk. >> i would say she was doing about 70, 80 miles per hour. i ran over to their car to look in it and then i ran back to my car grabbed the phone and that's when i called 911. >> now, police say jimmy and the other rear passenger died right there at the scene. the driver and a 25-year-old woman were taken to the hospital with injuries. officials say the building did sustain significant damage but appears to be structurally sound. >> a nine-year-old boy got ahold of a gun fired it and ended up shooting himself. amazingly the bullet only hit his finger. he was taken to the hospital where he was treated and released. philadelphia police say the child found the gun behind his parents' bed in their grays ferry home last night. well, they also say the gun was purchased legally but the investigation is ongoing.

no charges have been filed. investigators are looking into a suspicious fire that broke out early this morning in germantown. crews found a small fire near the front door of the hammel mill apartments around 2:00 a.m. they extinguished the flames quickly and then called the fire marshal to investigate. no one was hurt. >> well, the mayor of camden today talked to 100 different companies about investing in that city. mayor dana redd explained how far the city has come in recent years and the opportunities that are still ahead. the city is looking for more support for its promise zone goals which include safe and affordable housing and job creation. the federal reserve bank of philadelphia sponsored today's event. an endowment established in honor of the late beau biden will carry on his legacy of servicely his wife was at the university of delaware to accept a symbolic beau biden claire. it will be granted to scholars who work in oppressive countries so they can move to an american university and

deep lined the five block parade route. i can tell you it was a lot because at one point i had to get through all of these people to make my way onto the street. everyone joyous holding up very much's happy to be able to say they were here, they were here for the parade and then the team addressed the crowd. their moment that they earned and we were all ears. >> everyone in philadelphia, we want to thank you for embracing us. we take great pride in representing the city of philadelphia. we take great pride in representing philadelphia basketball. and today everybody in philadelphia is a part of the nova nation. >> we put a lot of hard work in this year and this is something that nobody ever will be able to take away from us. >> we're going out as national champions and thank you for everything. we love you guys. go cats! >> reporter: what a day. i talked to the team earlier in the week and i asked them what were they expecting about

looking at the center city skyline. we've got some breaks in those clouds and plenty of sunshine returning after a fairly cloudy start to our day. currently in philadelphia 50 degrees, dewpoint at 22, the air is pretty dry right now. the winds out of the west at 20 miles per hour. that pressure 29-point s 72. here's our change. storm tracker6 live double scan radar 3-d, we've got this area of low pressure just to the north of the great lakes and this will work its way eastward just in time for us on saturday and because of the track of this storm we've got some precipitation to track as well. we will talk about the time line and what to expect depending on your region and our northwest suburbs we're dealing with some wet snow anywhere if two to 4 inches possible. along that i-95 metro area you've got a battle zone of wet snow and rain anywhere from a coating to an inch or two is possible and in central delaware and south new jersey, mainly rain with just a few flakes mixing on in. so, coming up guys we've got future tracker6 on stand by. we're going to time out the precipitation. there's also a freeze watch to talk about once the snow

departs so a lot going on into, what is this our seconds week of april? details coming up with that seven-day forecast. >> i don't know, feels like the third week of february. >> seriously. what's going on. >> thanks melissa. >> you got it. >> a judge denied the state of new jersey's request to freeze atlantic city's assets. the christie administration wanted to stop a.c. from spending any more money until it made a payment to the school district. well, a judge did not act on that motion this morning which let the city pay its workers and then this afternoon the judge declined to act again saying he's worried about the people who depend on their paychecks but he did schedule another hearing on the matter for april 19th which is before the city's next payment to the school is due. >> new information about a shooting in philadelphia's wynnefield section. police say one of the victims was killed, another was seriously injured. the shooting happened around 11 o'clock last night in the 5,000 block of city avenue. police say a 28-year-old man died from his injuries at penn

presbyterian medicals center. police also say they're still looking for a motive in this shooting and that the investigation continues. meantime officials are investigating how a fire started at a home in montgomery county. the blaze began just after 10:00 this morning on sunset and woodland avenue in east norriton. smoke and flames were coming out of the second story when firefighters arrived. no injuries reported with this one. >> some old and abandoned buildings in trenton are in the process of getting an overdune major face-lift. of the hefty delays associated with the early victory parade might be hounding us for awhile this afternoon, sharrie, but luck. it looks like a lot of them here on the vine street expressway have cleared out. we had an earlier fender-bender an earlier disabled vehicle on the eastbound side. all the streets around city hall including market and 15th have reopened. redfern at septa tells me they're in the process of lifting septa bus detours. everything should be back to normal there. i'd still expect extra volume especially the paoli thorndale and noers town high speedline. market frankford line westbound earlier mechanical problems. route three west chester pike home from that parade there's a crash along lawrence road by the blue route that could be slowing us down. we've got big slowdowns on the westbound pennsylvania turnpike the whole way from valley forge out to approaching downingtown where there's a crash taking out one of the lanes. speeds just in the teens. if you want to use 202 southbound instead, speeds in

action radar. here's the upper level low we had yesterday. that's departing but here's this vigorous upper level low. a clipper system moving across the great lakes pressing into the ohio valley. future tracker6 showing you at 11:00 p.m. tonight it's still mostly cloudy, fairly dry across the region. no issues with precipitation for the rest of tonight. but overnight into early tomorrow morning we've got that precipitation on the move. 9 o'clock in the morning you notice mixed band right along that 95 corridor. if you're south of philadelphia in south jersey and delaware it's mostly rain but to the north and west the is where we find that snow and some wet snow showers setting up across the region. same thing holds true at 1:30 in the afternoon tomorrow and that snow band getting closer to philadelphia and points to the north and west with a temperature of about 38 at that time. 10 o'clock in the evening we'll start to see that precipitation depart from a west to east direction. so we'll go over the expected snowfall and we have adjusted this map just a little bit from what we had earlier.

a few flakes are possible in south jersey and delaware. otherwise this is mostly rain for you. about a coating to an inch along that 95 corridor but if you're north and west of philadelphia, two to 4 inches for berks, lehigh, northern, northampton counties, up through the poconos really from the pa become to about i80 is where we could find two to for inches of snow. here's something to keep in mind that this is april snow and you have a higher sun angle this time of year so the roads will be mainly wet. the elevation is also key he depending on where we find the heaviest snowfall totals will be where you find the highest elevation across the region which will increase its snowfall totals across our region. there will be some strong lift in the atmosphere and strong lift tomorrow afternoon. so wouldn't be surprised if we had a rumble of thunder that moved on through and evening gusts are are possible on the backside as that storm system pulls away can which will set us up for a freeze watch as we get into saturday night and early sunday morning. so that freeze watch is really for the heart of our viewing area as we go throughout the day saturday night into sunday with frigid digits to deal

this friday night, it will be dry. however, when you wake up around 7 o'clock in the morning we do have this band of precipitation and you can see how north and west of philadelphia it's going to be snow. south and east it will be rain and that really is the main flavor of the entire day. it all depends on where you live. expected accumulations if you are north of the pennsylvania turnpike, this is all going to be snow. it will be wet snow and it will be accumulating on the grassy surfaces. most of that will be melting on the pavement. if you get right along the i-95 corridor, it's going to be a mixture of snow and rain. when it's precipitation heavily rating heavily it will be snow, when it's lighter it will be rain and south and east of i-95 this is mainly going to be a rain event. taking a look at the time line it will be arriving between about 6 o'clock and niney 9 o'clock i9 o'clockin the morn. steadiest between 9:00 and
