win, this time in colorado. say it ain't so we're dealing with a snowy start to the weekend, testers will -- temperatures will drop tonight. let's get the latest from chris sowers. >> reporter: things were going to well. fourth warmest march in philadelphia. now we're in april it's spring and now we're talking snow. go figure, right? let's get you the center city skyline, clouds are starting to roll in. we're seeing rain sleet and snow south and west of philadelphia. winter weather advisory was issued by the national weather be service, we're expecting a light accumulation here, nothing south and east, maybe a couple of inches on grassy surfaces. that's the reason for the advisory. double scan live we'll set it in

motion, the center is sitting over pittsburgh. this is ahead of area of low pressure. as it moves it's warming the temperatures. we're seeing 40s across south jersey and delaware. it's not even 9:00 a.m. this is giving me concern as to where the snow/rain line will takes place. media a mixture of rain and snow. it's a moderate snow across lancaster county. route 30 it's coming down good making its way into lancaster. south jersey and delaware it's rain at this point as the numbers climb into the upper 30s and low 40s. 41 in cape may. close to 40 for wilmington and dover. forecast today mixture of rain and snow, 40 degrees by 1:00 p.m. 42 by 3:00 p.m. shooting for a high of 44. when i come back in just a few minutes, here's where the snow

will takes place and the rain and we'll talk accumulations. i'll run it down on future tracker 6. gray. for the snow and rain forecast stay with storm tracker 6 live radar and follow the members of our "action news" weather team on facebook and twitter for updates. developing at 9:00 a.m. a driver is dead after crashing his volkswagen into the schuylkill river. police say the car hit a pole and sign after it came off route 1 and going airborne into the river. the car landed on its roof. the driver died in the wreckage. the position of the car made the recovery a challenge. the car was 40 feet in the river on its roof upside submerged in 6 feet deep of water. fire rescue attached cables to the car to shift it, so divers could get a look inside. they brought the 26-year-old

driver's body to the surface. speed played a role in the accident. they are still investigating the strategy. new overnight a truck flipped on a sidewalk, a car feet away had a red light crash on the windshield. it's the aftermath of the accident in west philadelphia. the vehicles collided at 38th and walnut on the outskirts of penn campus, two people on the sidewalk were injured as well as two people inside the car. everyone was taken to the hospital. they will be okay. police say alcohol played a role in the crash. philadelphia police are looking for leads after a man found his roommate stabbed multiple times, officer got the call after 1:00 a.m. on the 6400 block of limb -- lime kiln pike in west mount airy. he heard a noise in the basement he went downstairs to find the roommate stabbed in the chest.

no arrests have been made and list are searching for a motive. 9:03. hundreds of philadelphia residents are coming together to remember victims of violence. they held a candle light vigil ceremony last night. dann cuellar was there. >> reporter: more than 300 people from the across the city gathered to honor the lives of those lost in violence and give strength to the survivors left behind. monique lost her son to gun violence on august 1, 2007. he was walking home from a basketball game. they don't who killed him. that's the hardest part to know someone walking out there took his life. >> reporter: a this woman lost her son september 10 on 2010. he went to resolve a beef with another man, but the other man had a plan. he came with una gun.

if losing one son is not painful enough, aida lost her son last year his 17-year-old brother in 20006. it needs to stop, too many babies are dieing for no reason. mayor jim kenny lost a nephew to violence and knows the pain it causes. he came to comfort families but knew there was little he could say to make the pain go away. my prayers prayers are witd the city and the people touched by violence and senseless loss. >> reporter: whatever the solutions may be for many families here, one thing is unmis clear, things have to change.

dann cuellar channel 6 "action news." this morning another terror raid is happening in belgium after investigators arrested 6 people in connection with the deadly bombings there. one suspect could be the mysterious man in the hat seen on surveillance video leaving the airplane. prosecutors need more verification. he is the last identified suspect at large from last year's paris attack. secretary of state john kerry made a surprise visit to afghanistan. it is his second unannounced trip in just two days. kerry arrived in iraq yesterday and met with the prime minister and other government leaders. he plans to meet with afghanistan's rival leaders a bit later today. and turning now to the race for president, bernie sanders is projected to score another win today expected to take the democratic caucus in wyoming that will help him make a small

dent in hillary clinton's delegate lead. bernie sanders and hillary clinton are stumping for votes in new york ahead of the april 19th primary. hillary clinton served as a new york senator and bernie sanders grew up there. bernie sanders will fly to the vatican to speak to a conference there. he hopes to meet the pope. ted cruz is cutting into donald trump's delegate lead. he will be awarded 21 delegates when the colorado convention meet later today. gop activists are like cruz they are deeply conservative and religious and have a libertarian streak. donald trump and john kasich are stumping in new york. pennsylvania holds their primary a week after new york. kay, now, the time 89:07.

a black bear cub named smoky junior, of course, was rescued from a brushfire on thursday. it was thanks to a teenager who heard a squealing sound from the woods. he was so excited, he came running toward us. he was the happy to get out of there. his fur was singed and his paws were burned. they are spreading his scent around trying to reunited with with -- reunite him with his mother. you like the snow? >> reporter: even for me, april enough is enough. it's cold this week, a setback in the weather department. we're watching a clipper system push through. we're seeing rain over the commodor barry bridge. all areas south and east, most

of new jersey and delaware. snow is flying in west chester and berks county. looks like the winter mix will be north and west of the delaware river. so all areas south and east of the line will he see rain. areas to the north will stay primarily snow at varying intensities throughout the day. we're picking up lavender shades throughout lancaster county. there's moderate snow there, route 30. route 322 heading into honeybrook moderate snow. everybody south and east picking up the light rain. temperatures are mild for snow. 40 degrees in philadelphia. it's very difficult to get accumulating snow at 40 degrees at any time of the year let alone april when the sun angle is so high. millville, 39, dover 39 degrees. here's double scan. there's the center of the clipper pushing over pittsburgh.

the center of the storm dumped 9-inch of snow over toledo, ohio last night. this will pull east and ride along the p-a turnpike and make its way out to sea later this evening. as it does so it will usher in colder air on the backside. windchills tomorrow morning are in the teens tomorrow before we rebound during the afternoon. it will feel like winter over the next 24 to 36 hours. there are improvements in the seven-day forecast. future tracker 6 lunchtime rain south and east, snow north and west. that will continue throughout the day. temperatures upper 30s, low 40s. the evening hours once the storm hits the coast there's the north windy driving the cold air into the heart of the delaware and lehigh valleys. for today, temperatures well above freezing, the snow is going to stick mainly on grassy surfaces. all the roads, sidewalks, things like that just wet. lots of melting. elevation will play a key role in the storm system. the higher you are in the elevations the greater chances

you see snow. the closer you are to sea level there's a greater chance of you see rain out of this. freeze warning in effect overnight tonight. affected snowfall totals i'm going to keep this as it is for now, honestly i'm going to drop this to a coating to an inch. i don't have a lot of confidence in the storm especially being so late in the year. this is how we'll leave it for now, but i wouldn't be surprised if the numbers were lower. freeze warning in effect at 10:00 p.m. for all the areas shaded in the blue. snow scout and east, 43 degrees is the forecasted high. winds out of the north/northwest partly cloudy overnight tonight 28 in center city, 23 in the suburbs. what you're not seeing is the windchills stuck in the teens. sunday, morning windchills in the teens, 40 degrees in the

>> reporter: tell him to go back north into canada there. double scan live we have flurries on city avenue this morning. steadier light snow off to the west across chester and lancaster counties where they are picking up a grassy accumulation. in south jersey we're seeing rain every now and then we see the wet snowflakes silver dollar snowflakes mixed in, sewell and washington township seeing that right now. a quick zoom where the rain/snow line is setting up. chadds ford you're on the edge there. it goes over to rain at times and back over to snow. well north and west of that point take a jewish -- journey along honeybrook and that's where you're seeing the snow. lancaster, it's snowing at a good clip there. south and east, all of the green it's mainly rain at that point. temperatures are playing a key role in this. we're 40 degrees in philadelphia. 39 in wilmington.

police are calling the death suspicious. this morning police are searching for two men in connection with a double shooting in the city's point breeze section. chopper 6 hd was over the scene at 22 and tyson street. police are looking for two men seen leaving the area. 9:34 is the time. a homeless teenager is in jail charged in the death of a texas college student. surveillance video played a key role in tracking the suspect down. abc's brandy hicks has the latest on the investigation. >> reporter: haruka weiser shined on stage. the 18-year-old's life was cut short at the university of texas at austin by this man, a homeless teen now under arrest and charged with her murder. her body discovered tuesday in this campus creek. we are certain that the

suspect in custody is the suspect responsible. >> reporter: this surveillance video is why. wiser was last seen sunday night leaving the drama building. the suspect is spotted with the bike. the moment this video was made public tips flooded in. the fire department reporting the same suspect lit a fire in a trash can near campus monday and they took him to the she recalled. he was arrested there carrying haruka weiser duffle bag and evidence was recovered from the trash can. the theater and dance class performing a special moment in her honor at friday's spring concert. a very short amount of time, she made it very clear she was going to be a star on the stage. >> reporter: her parents asking the chief to spread this message that even choked him up. please tell them to take care of themselves and go home and hug your children, not once,

but twice. >> reporter: officials in texas say the teenager recently ran away from his foster home. . a dallas woman one of fbi's ten most wanted fugitives under arrest. she allegedly paid a hit man to kill a dentist who was dating her ex-boyfriend. the accomplices shot her back in september, they are in jail. escaped killer anthony garber is back in custody in washington state. he broke out of a psychiatric hospital he was caught near his parents' home unharmed dehydrated and in need of medical attention. we found him hiding under a

pile of debris. he feels found too mentally ill to stand trial after slashing a woman 24 times. a patient who broke out with him is back in police custody. former house speaker dennis hastert agreed to pay hush money to silence a sex abuse victim. he agreed to pay $3.5 million to a 14-year-old boy decades ago. he worked as a high school teacher and wrestling coach in chicago. four bays claimed he 'abused them. he cannot be tried for the claims because of the statue of limitations. he admitted to breaking banking laws. he will be sentenced at the end of the months. a local police officer is honored for saving three lives. jeff chirico has the story. >> reporter: therein hugs and

tears. as officer brianothbine met the man whose mother he saved after an attack. he keeps his cool. he was named evesham township officer of the month after saving three lives in ten days. pete's mom was reportedly deceased after he responded. after 3 minutes of cpr she began breathing. the day cover horrific, as tragic as it was because of him as emotional as you saw him earlier he pulled up to the scene it was business as usual. >> reporter: it was the third time he saved a life in his 12 year career. it wouldn't be his last. he saved another woman who was not breathing and pulled a driver from a car that was about to catch fire. >> it is amazing.

seeing big white snowflakes mixing. in the heavier the precipitation falls, you're pulling the cooler air down to the surface. even if it's showing green i wouldn't be surprised if you're seeing snow. lancaster, honeybrook, light snow. this is up in sullivan county. even though this is out of the viewing area, the reason why i'm showing this, it's not sticking to the roads. even up here in lopez county it's sticking to grassy surfaces. 40 degrees if philadelphia. millville, 39. 39 in wilmington. cape may, 39. trenton, 39 degrees a popular number this morning. reading, 33. and allentown up to 36. as i set it in motion for you, the main low pressure center is actually back here across pittsburgh.

this shield of moisture here on the northern flank will push up to the north into new england later this afternoon. eventually, the whole system works out to sea and when that happens we'll see the winds shift out of the north an driving the cold air back into the region. lunchtime, 37 degrees, mixture of rain and snow throughout the area. same thing, 1, 2, 3:00 p.m. this afternoon. look at the numbers here, hard to get the heavy accumulations when the temperatures are in the low 40s, reading, 42. allentown, 38. dover, 47. millville, 42. overnight tonight, the numbers are cold enough we're down in the 20s. at that point the precipitation shut off and actually the skies open up we go mainly clear. 29 by 6:30 tomorrow morning. 27 in allentown and the poconos, 22. snowfall coatings, coating to an inch. 2 to 4 allentown reading an
