"action news" tonight is the springtime snowfall and we remain under a winter weather advisory until 8:00 o'clock and then a freeze warning overnight. snow has been falling all across delaware and lehigh valleys for mess of the the day. the plenty of people want to head out and pull out winter weather gear once again but good news is the road remain snow free for the most part. the lets head over to meteorologist melissa magee with the first check of the accu weather forecast, melissa. >> we are beyond april 1st, this this is not a trick from mother nature. we should not be dealing with this in the month of april but we have more snow to track across delaware and lehigh val is in our spring season. here's storm tracker six live double scan radar. the just light rainfall for philadelphia and points to the north and west but we're starting to see a heavier band set up to the south and east across southern sections of new jersey. so we will go a little tighter on street level with storm tracker six in hammington we have light snow, pressing out of elmer to the east, mays landing dog with the light snow and wintry precipitation. same thing in millville.

sea isle city we have a mixed bag of precipitation. this will slowly start to exit from the west/east direction throughout the rest of tonight. late season snow, so far. chadds ford picked up 2.5 inches of snow, 2.5 in mullica. vineland 2.1. limerick an inch. 0.2 inches of snow there in philadelphia. so, we are still going to have that winter weather advisory. the right now just up for areas in atlantic, cumberland and cape may counties until 8:00 o'clock tonight as we are tracking the rest of this wet snow that will slowly start to depart. we will talk about what we can expect for the rest of this evening. heavier band across out earn portions of our viewing area a cross out jersey but still, about eight or 9:00 o'clock this evening, lots of melting going on which means we are dealing with primarily wet road on the main roads and then that freeze warning, walter, goes into effect tonight. we will talk about the the details coming up with the full and exclusive accu weather forecast. lets move live to "action news" reporter trish hartman live in manayunk with more on today's snowfall.

trish, it looks like the snow has stopped. >> reporter: it has a significantly lightened up in the past 30 minutes here on main street, just a drizzle right now. it has been snowing pretty much all day in manayunk. take a look no accumulations on the sidewalk, the sidewalk, here on main street are just wet. every once in a while we will see a cargo by with snow on it but nothing major. folks we have spoken to say while snow does really prehe vent them from getting anywhere today they are still sick of it. on main street in manayunk the flakes were flying, not unusual for winter, but on april 9th? definitely a bizarre sight. >> it is weird this morning when it happened, it was the worst through like come on, no way and just kept going and snow flakes were huge. >> reporter: this group visiting from out of town was hoping for a beautiful day before seeing a show at the keswick theater. instead they got this. >> they said it was going to snow. bummer after last week we had 79 degrees. >> reporter: usually,

>> thanks, trish. taking a live look at philadelphia international airport from our sky six camera, airport officials say the snow is causing some delays today, that is in part because they had to deice some planes before take off. airport officials suggested checking the status of your flight before you head out. action cam checking out the scene where the snow was falling across the suburbs, in paoli, chester county snow was sticking to the grass and park cars n doylestown bucks county, people were walking around using their umbrellas, fortunately and it remained above freezing throughout the region and snow was not sticking to the roads here on states and main streets. snow also didn't stop people from heading out to do shopping in easton, northampton county this was supposed to be a spring event to welcome in the warmer temperatures. obviously it was anything but warm, and these folks made the best of the the frosty situation right there in downtown easton. and the action cam also checking out a snowy scene here this afternoon in elsmere, delaware. big flakes were falling in new castle county but luckily nothing sticking on the roads once again this is kirkwood

highway and you can see traffic was moving just fine across that region. in atlantic city, city snow has been falling for most of the the day. action cam on the scene here catching people who decided to venture outside, road were starting to get slushy in the afternoon but that hadn't slowed things down for drivers, too much. stay with six abc.com/weather, as storm tracker six live double scan radar for very latest on the snow and be sure to follow the members of the "action news" weather team on facebook and twitter, for any updates. off-duty police officer in philadelphia shot and killed a robbery suspect this afternoon. investigators say the suspect had just robbed someone near broad street and olney. "action news" reporter jeff chirico is live at the scene and he has full details, jeff? >> reporter: walter, having just after 2:00 this afternoon on the 5700 block of park avenue, the off-duty officer who just happened to be in the area, foiled that attempted robbery, which cost the

suspect his life. >> he tried to rob the wrong one. >> reporter: viewer video shows aftermath of the police involved shooting. off-duty officer points his weapon at a robbery suspect lying on the ground fatally wounded. incident began two blocks away on the 5700 block of park avenue, an officer intervened when he saw suspect robbing another man. police say the alleged robber pointed a gun at the officer who fired his weapon. evidence markings show multiple bullet casings but police say they are not sure if the suspect ever fired his gun. suspect collapsed in front of this mobile store on broad a and chew street where brian behind was watching. >> you could see where he got shot at, right there on the pavement. he wasn't moving. he kept saying don't move but we knew he wasn't going to move. >> reporter: police back autopsy arrived and officer removed an object from the suspect. >> i watched them take it. you know, he had something on him. >> reporter: police say the robbery victim was roughed up

but will be okay. police picked up the suspect and placed him in the suv which took him to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. investigators from homicide and internal affairs has been on the scene for a couple hours investigating. at this point we're told that the officer's name is not being released but he was not hurt. we are live, jeff chirico, for channel six "action news". >> thanks, jeff. police officials from all across our region held a diversity career fair this morning, at bright hope baptist church in north philadelphia and there was a big turnout despite snow. this event was first of its kind in the city as minorities and women were encouraged to attend. more than 40 agencies from all across the delaware val write on hand to talk about the opportunities. >> i think when you start recruiting, and start getting people not only ready to work right now but people, younger people abroad, they get a chance to talk to you and find

after his car plunged in the schuylkill river earlier this morning. this was the scene shortly before 3:00an in west oak lane. investigators say the driver failed to negotiate the turn on the kelly drive and somehow ended up in the water. by the time rescuers got to him, it was just too late. victim has not yet been identified. police in philadelphia are investigating after finding a man stabbed to death in the basement of the home. police got the call just after 1:00 in the 6400 block of limekiln pike in west mt. airy. investigators say a man heard a noise in his basement and went downstairs to find his roommate, stabbed several times in the chest. he died at the scene. police have not made any arrests at this time.

and police in philadelphia searching for the person who robbed a mcdonald's early this morning on city avenue in overbrook. it happened at 4:30 a a.m. investigators say a man with the gun stole money and a cell phone from an employee there before running off. investigators tell us that the thief was in such a rush they left behind a trail of money on bryn mawr avenue as he fled. anyone with information is asked to call police. it was all about the the dogs today in wilmington delaware. bellevue state park held third annual wood stock at bellevue expo this have a afternoon. it included pet-related vendors, police k-9 demonstrations and a pet conn trust. vets were on hand to answer questions, from owners. the event had to be moved indoors because of the snow. a local dog rescue got a big boost today, kennedy subaru in conshohocken presented the mostly mutt animal rescue with the donation for their work providing foster homes for dogs. this morning's event was also a chance for folks to meet up with a adoptable dogs and maybe take home, a new member
