falling, but feel of winter is here. a freeze warning is in effect.wd to believe but on this april 10 we're waking up to a freeze warning. when you walk out, black ice has developed on the sidewalks and roads after the snow and rain moved out. crops are in danger, as temperatures hover around freezing.

the cold springs has already cost farmers. it's going to be down right cold for the half run marathon. runners will need a layer or two for the run this time. year. we were in seoul south korea for the past two weeks, it was 73 degrees. >> reporter: it was here, too, let's get you outside, all that snow. i was being sarcastic, but let's show you the view as we look live on sky6 live hd, taking a look at the center city skyline. yesterday's storm is well out to sea. it did create problems we were expecting the snow in southeastern pennsylvania and new jersey picked up a decent amount of snow, as well. that was unexpected. some of the areas are on the water. avalon, 2 inches of snow. mays landings, 2 inches of snow.

mullica hill looks like you let the pack in the garden state, 3 inches. another surprise it was thumping so hard at some point, the garden state parkway, the roads became covered. it created a lot of slick spots. with the heavy precipitation, it created visibility issues and slick spots on the roads and turned out to be a miserable saturday afternoon around portions of new jersey and southeastern pennsylvania. now, as we look at the satellite and radar composite, the storm is long gone. we have clear contingency and mostly sunny skies. brisk and cold, temperatures have dropped below freezing, a freeze warning is in effect until 10:00 a.m. april 10th feels like 18 in reading. 23 in millville. only 24 in philadelphia. forecast for today, you'll see more sunshine. 43 degrees by 1:00 p.m. 3:00 p.m., 47.

all your fault. stay with 6abc.com/weather and storm tracker 6 live radar for the latest on the cold weather and snowfall and be sure to follow the members of the "action news" weather team on facebook and twitter for the latest updates. new this morning, philadelphia police are looking for three robber who is held up two 7-eleven convenience stores within minutes of each other. the action cam was on frankford avenue in the holmesburg section of the city. one of the suspects had a handgun walking up to the clerks at 2:00 a.m. dmangtd cash and cigarettes -- demanding cash and cigarettes. they ran out without hurting anyone. the second store was hit two miles from the first one, bridge and thompson street in bridesburg. they demanded the clerk hand over money. they drove off in a van.

they are trying to identify the suspects. there's an investigation into a robbery suspect in olney. we know an off-duty police officer fired the fatal shot. viewer video shows the scene moments after the shooting 5700 block of park avenue. the suspect was trying to hold up an elderly person. investigators same the off duty officer confronted the suspect and told him to drop the weapon. that's when the suspect allegedly pointed the gun at the officer who fired a shot. there was a foot chase and police say the suspect fired at the officer. he returned fire hitting the suspect who died a short time later. he was screaming call 911. i watched him take the gun off him. we have learned this morning the officer involved inside was not injured. police say the robbery victim only had minor injuries.

turning to the race for president, hillary clinton is banking on new yorkers to stop bernie sanders surge. he won 7 of the last 8 states ahead of new york primary. now he rolled out a new ad from spike lee that attempts to show he has support from minorities. bernie sanders sees all of me, he sees all of you, he sees us as a whole people as a whole can bet. hillary clinton has dominated the minority vote so far, minority voters will make or break the candidates in new york city where hillary clinton served as senator and person was born. i believe a county is judge not by the size of its military, it is judge by how it treats the most vulnerable amongst us. hillary clinton seems to be conceding that the big apple

primary may be a game changer. we are on the path to the nomination, i need to win big in new york, because the sooner i can become the nominee, i can turn and unify the democratic party like i did with president obama back in 2008. hillary clinton and bernie sanders just visited philadelphia last week preparing for pennsylvania's april 26th primary. later this morning the panel on inside story looks closer at the candidates rhetoric leading up to the pennsylvania primary coming up before "action news" at noon. in the next half-hour we'll hear from the republican presidential candidates courting voters in new york this weekend. classes will not be interrupted by a walkout at west chester and cheney and the other

display. 100 people were killed in india. the fireworks was started by a fireworks display that ignited a separate batch of fireworks. prime minister plans to visit the site. in las vegas storms caused flooding problems for drivers this weekend. a woman waited patiently to get help after she got stuck in knee-high water yesterday. they blocked off several roads in an attempt to keep others from making the same mistake the woman did. on our roads we're dealing with ice, a freeze warning in effect until 10:00 a.m. >> reporter: secondary roads have patchy black ice and frozen slush for areas that picked up heavier amounts. let's take you to the jersey shore this is a location where we were not expecting anything in the way of snow. mother nature threw us a curve ball. they picked up quite a bit.

jersey shore, avalon to atlantic city picked up two to three inches of the light stuff. over into glen mills this is a shot in pennsylvania, sent in by dottie. this is all the snow picked up close to 3 inches there. some of the snowfall totals were impressive in pennsylvania. 4.7 in wane. valley forge, 3 1/2. chads folder, 2 1/2. allentown, a half inch. it was the huge silver dollar snowflakes falling for quite sometime about four hours straight. that accumulated quickly. now that the temperatures have dropped below freezing obviously the snow is not able to melt, when the numbers climb up to 50, whatever snow you see on the front lawn will melt quickly. reading, 27. philadelphia, 32. south jersey, most locations are below freezing. the freeze warning remains in

traffic accident. police in new orleans say it started when a hummer rear ended smith's vehicle. he was shot after exchanging words with the driver of the hummer. he died at the scene. his wife was shot. she is being treated for two bullet wounds in the right leg. the 30-year-old driver of the hummer was taken into custody. memorial to remember the victims of a deadly building collapse in center city is under construction. city leaders and victims' families were on hand for the ground breaking at 22 and market. the buildings collapsed at the salvation army thrift store 2014. salvation army donated the land for what will become memorial park. by remembering those who died here, the memorial will

let me illustrate and show you why we saw the snow? southern new jersey instead of north and west. we had a clipper system, and a secondary snow develop down south. that will develop right here and put the axis of the snow west of the delaware river. instead this clipper merged with the surface storm right here. instead of the heavy snows being out here, the heavy snows wrapped around the low like that and pushed into camden and cumberland and gloucester and atlantic and cape may counties in south jersey. got all the way down to the coast. we saw images of this, the snow sticking to the roads. huge silver dollar snowflakes. this is margate. this was not look like down the jersey shore. things shifted to the south, the snow came to the south, as well. today, partly sunny, milder, highs near 50s. 6:25 your time.

motive. investigators are trying to figure out what started a deadly fire in berks county. the fire started at 2:30 in old lee township. firefighters say a man died shortly after being pulled from the burning home. the victim's name has not been released. an autopsy is being planned to determine the cause of death. two firefighters and local police officer were transported to hospitals for non-life threatening injuries. 6:34, the race for the republican nomination for president is turning to the primary prize new york state. ted cruz fresh off a win of a 1 colorado delegates yesterday. said that the challenge for the event gop nominee would be to unite the party. >> reporter: when you have this kind of bloody battle, everyone natural fears disunity and fracture at the end of it. it's a great challenge for a nominee to hold together a winning coalition. john kasich said party regulars will go to cleveland

yesterday's snow. everyone in their mother was complaining. >> reporter: what i found most fascinating with yesterday's snow was the size of the snowflakes. fascinating is one word for it. >> reporter: i'm sure there's another word for it, too. of let's get you outside, it was snowing in parts of the area, it was neat to see. one thing about april's snow it melts very, very quickly. whatever snow you have in the front yard, give it a couple of hours it will melt as temperatures climb into the 40s and 50s. we'll see sunshine as the skies remain mainly clear. double scan live is clear, next chance of moisture gets in here tomorrow morning. stray showers possible, same thing in the afternoon. better chance to see rain monday night into tuesday. ups and downs this past week, mother nature can't make up her

mind. one day it's chilly and another day it's cold. friday, 51 degrees, not bad, saturday, 43 degrees. philadelphia, 32. trenton, 30. here's satellite and radar, clear skies across the mid atlantic states from washington, d.c. all the way up to new england. the leading edge of the next storm that we're watching is pushing through the ohio valley and the great lake states. you can see snow showers flying out here, shy town reporting light snow and rains in places like memphis and saint louis. this is the frontal system that will swing through here. behind it brings a push of warmer air. you can see the chilly stuff to the northeast. see how much milder we are to the south. that's the warm front that slides through in the next 24, 36 hours. temperature maps it's fairly chilly. temperatures close to where they should be around 50.

philadelphia. vernon odem explains. >> reporter: at recess this chilly day students at north philadelphia elementary school shoot baskets with new back boards, rims and nets. courtesy of a junior at temple university. he saw nothing but bent or hanging rims or nets torn and missing. they don't have a lot of the, they don't even have places to play basketball at. having this will give these kids somewhere to go. he saw the same situation all over north philadelphia. he decided to act through a fundraising internet site called go fund me. he raise $253 to put up four goals on the play ground. temperature university basketball team played with the school children and passed along
