parade, going down broad street before we started our very first season nobody came. and then seven years later there were 2 million people, so this is a hockey town. >> reporter: snide was born the son a grocery store own interwashington, d.c. in 1933. he and his new flowers staff had to teach a region and that had little exposure to hockey to understand the game. they did that and more. the flyers have one of the most passionate fan bases in the nhl. mr. snider has his employees and players always called him was a shrewd businessman whose stare to pierce through lead. he famously fired coaches almost at the drop of a hat but he also expected excellence with his team and passion during every shift. snider had also been a part owner of the eagles and served as chairman of the sixers and what would become the flyers parents company comcast-spectacor. he was elected to the nhl hall of fame in 1988. snider is survived by his wife, three daughters, three

sell grating his life as well as historic videos from his legendary career. >> we're also learning more tonight about the death of a man found inside of a west conshohocken home over the weekend. police say the man, is a 22-year-old cabrini college student. walter perez is live with the latest. >> reporter: rick, investigators also tell us the victim was a member of a lacrosse team at cabrini college and grief counselors have been made available on campus. campusmanies. the victim's name has not been released. people who knew him describe a good young man with a bright future. neighbors along the 200 block of moore head avenue are still in shock. >> it's devastating to hear anything like that and i think it's just devastating to hear a young life cut short especially when it was obvious that he had a lot of potential. >> reporter: investigators say the cabrini college

students who rent this home were having a small private party on saturday night. on sunday morning a couple of the victims' roommates found him on one of the couches inside. >> thought he was asleep on the couch. realized he was not breathing. they contacted the police department and lafayette ambulance showed up. the police officers conducted cpr. >> reporter: still, the 22-year-old cabrini college lacrosse player was pronounced dead at the scene and an autopsy is being performed at this hour. investigators tell us even though an anti-opioid was administered at the scene and drug paraphernalia was found inside the house the cause of death has not yet been determine. in the end though both neighbors and local officials say these kinds of cases are nothing short of tragic. >> it's a real shame somebody so young with their whole life ahead of them. >> it's sad for the family, 22-year-old male cabrini college, from my understand played on the lacrosse team so it's sad to deal with young people. >> reporter: now, chief sinclair also tells us they

found no signs of foul play inside the home and as of tonight no charges have been filed in this case. reporting live from west conshohocken, walter perez channel6 "action news." >> thank you walter. philadelphia police released new surveillance pictures showing a woman's abduction in hunting park then need help finding the suspect. officers say it happened friday morning in the 900 block of west luzerne street much witnesses say they saw a man force the woman who a green car possibly a toyota camry way partial pennsylvania tag kbl137. a witness told police she also heard a woman screaming at the man and then the suspect followed the woman in the car and forced her inside before driving off. new details tonight about a crash that injured a delaware state trooper. investigators say the trooper was responding to a domestic altercation and his cruiser's lights and sirens were activated when a car pulled in front of him. the crash happened yesterday evening on route seven in stanton, new castle county. the other driver involved was taken to christiana

hospital. the trooper was treated at the hospital and released. >> two former philadelphia police officers have been found not guilty of wrongly beating a man. today a jury acquitted sean mcnight and kevin robinson in the beating of 23-year-old natch gee rivera during a traffic stop in 2013. the officers said rivera fled after running a stop sign and they believed he was a drug courier. surveillance video contradicted their version of the events. >> reporter: police continue to search for the driver who crashed an suv into a bucks county home. this is what the damage looked like yesterday along the 2200 block of monroe avenue in bensalem. that driver apparently lost control of the vehicle hit an embankment then ricocheted off a shed and flew into the house. the driver ran off. the homeowners were not seriously injured. >> it felt more like spring out there today but accuweather is tracking more rain moving into our area. looking live outside right now sky6 hd showing you atlantic city with gray skies up above.

meteorologist cecily tynan at the big board for us with a first look at the forecast. hi, cecily. >> hi, monica. we have some peeks of sunshine out there, winds out of the south, feels pretty nice, 67 degrees in philadelphia currently. just to the south temperatures are in the 70's. compare this to this time yesterday. it's 17 degrees warmer than yesterday and as we head toward the second half of the week and the weekend, it's going to be warming up a lot more than that. now, double scan live showing that there is a fly in the ointment to this forecast. i'm tracking this cold front and this is all sliding to the east and this system will bring us another round of wet weather, really the first half of the day. as we zoom in you can see that rain is already advancing north of pittsburgh right now so this whole system will swing through so tomorrow similar to today where we have the rain from the morning rush but the sunshine by the afternoon and get ready for several days of sunshine. i'm tracking a nice sunny stretch and then 70's will

make a comeback. i'll let you know when coming up in the full accuweather forecast. are rick. >> something to look forward to. thank you, cecily. lawmakers in trenton are searching for solutions to an age old problem that has jeopardized the health of thousands of children. lead poisoning. and there could be new legislation that would make city water supplies saver especially in trenton schools. new jersey correspondent nora muchanic is live with an upday. hi, nora. >> reporter: hi, rick. new jersey doesn't require schools to test water for lead but some school districts are doing it on their own amid concerns about lead poisoning. now, lead is toxic to young children who can suffer irreversible brain damage when exposed. when rj james was a baby he lived in an apartment in trenton his mother later learned was covered in lead paint. he was poisoned and now the two-year-old is living proof that exposure to lead can cause devastating health effects in children. >> right now we going through

like procedures and he have like a behavior problem. he's not not talking. he has a speech problem. >> reporter: whether it's lead paint chips in the home or lead in the water at schools as we see lately the push is on in new jersey to battle lead poisoning. highlighted by a forum in trenton this morning where advocates are pushing for a law to mandate water testing in all schools. >> there's some state of the art schools but there's more older schools and that where i think the problems are. >> reporter: hamilton township is the most recent school district to report high levels of lead in the water. a fountain at greenwood elementary built in 1917 was shut down and morgan school built in 1957 has brought in water coolers and stopped cooking on location as a precaution. >> it's always concern when did you go there's lead in any kind of water. >> reporter: but you think -- >> but i think they're handling it well. >> reporter: hamilton just began testing recently. the trenton school district has been doing it for years. >> through the course of the program they've taken things offline, they've capped them, they've gone through and removed equipment at the source.

the blaze happened back in 1985 in oxford circle. jurors today deliberated for six days before finding daniel dougherty guilty of second degree murder and arson. he was sentenced to life without parole. originally dougherty was given the death penalty for killing his three-year-old and four-year-old sons but that sentence was thrown out on a technicality. >> ahsir reece of violent attacks in philadelphia that sent several people to the hospital. happened in north philadelphia port richmond and spring garden. in two of those incidents the suspects are still on the run tonight. philadelphia detectives say a man was shot while pulling his car out of a drive way near 12th and wallace streets in spring garden. the victim continued to drive but then lost control of his car and slammed into the front doors of a church. detectives say he then walked away from the wreckage, was picked up by another driver and taken to hahnemann hospital for treatment. not clear who shot him or why. some sort of fight throwed a stabbing in north

philadelphia. happened near ridge and cecil b. moore avenues. detectives say a man with a cut to his hand flagged down a police cruiser in the area. those officers took him to the hospital for treatment. a short time later a second person called 911 saying he had been stabbed in the arm near lidge and cecil b. moore, that same area. he was also taken to the hospital for treatment. authorities say the first man will be charged in the incident. and a man is fighting for his life tonight after being shot twice in the head. this was the scene outside of a chinese takeout restaurant along the 2000 block of castor avenue in port richmond. detectives say the shooter snuck up behind the victim, shot him and ran off. the victim whose name has not been released was rushed to temple university hospital where he's in extremely critical condition. and detectives add that several other people also shot at the victim and police are looking at surveillance video in the area to try to hopefully identify them tonight. if you have any information about this shooting along castor avenue or at 12th and

wallace, you're asked to contact philadelphia police. monica. >> all right. philadelphia detectives are also hoping surveillance video leads them to the thieves who made off with a large haul of cigarettes. this happened friday morning at a warehouse in the 100 block of east hunting park avenue. three men pride opened the rear door and carted in a big ladder. once inside they took 24 cases of cigarettes worth about $64,000. from our delaware news room new castle police are looking for the man in these surveillance pictures. they say he robbed a wssf bank in the airport shopping center. investigators say the man walked in at 12:30 p.m. and handed the teller a note demanding cash. when he got it he ran out of the bank and went into a white box truck. no one was hurt but if you recognize the man in the surveillance video please contact new castle police. new jersey governor chris christie made another nomination to the state supreme court today. it is very likely that nomination will be confirmed. christie and senate president steve sweeney announced this

health concerns because of the discoveries and the epa could do more. >> it should immediately finalize the updated stricter advisory levels that take into account lifetime exposure. >> boyle and meehan are asking the epa to clarify when and how the navy determined the nature of the well contamination. those wells are are now offline according to the navy. philadelphia mayor jim kenney and council president darrell clarke put on their student hats today in west philadelphia. they listened to ninth graders at the workshop school who shared their ideas to increase energy efficiency. philadelphia's considered one of the green estes in the country a trend lawmakers want to continue. >> a judge ruled eminent domain can be used to seize man for a protected dune project in margate second ruling in favor of the state environmental department as it tries to assemble strips along

rain has arrived, really a steady rainier philadelphia, some heavier rain in the northwest suburbs. so the morning commute will be wet. allow extra time around 9 o'clock in the morning most of the activity shifts from i-95 areas south and east and then it clears out pretty quickly. 1 o'clock showers hanging along the coast. sunshine is back in the northwest suburbs and we clear out the clouds as we head through the evening hours. tomorrow night for the phillies looking pretty nice. 7:05, first pitch, mostly clear, a little bit on the breezy side, winds out of the northwest up to 14 miles an hour. first pitch temperature of 56. by the ninth inning dropping down to 47 degrees. so, it should be dry but it will be a little bit chilly. heading into wednesday, winds out of the northeast had bring cooler air, the high only 58 degrees. but this high pressure takes controlly the rest of the week and that will bring us loads of sunshine and a gradual warming trend which is something a lot of people have been waiting for.

with the death of ed snider. snider died early this morning after a two-year battle with bladder cancer. but snider is a philadelphia icon who has carved a special place in the history of this city and the entire region. snider single-handedly brought the flyers and the nhl to philadelphia in 1967. 50 years ago. and his cherished team became the first expansion team to win the stanley cup in 1974, the first of two successive cups but snid snider became not just the face of his team but one of the true faces of philadelphia. ed snider was 83. "action news" reporter john rawlins is live at the skate house in cobbs creek and john snider himself would say that his greater evident accomplishment might just have been his commitment to providing athletic and educational opportunities to under served youth. >> reporte
