bryant who was desperately trying to free himself for hours stuck waist deep in the muck of a creek. sara bloomquist is live at the 200 block of kingswood lane. sara how did they get him out. >> reporter: well jim, they used their training and special equipment, this is where the rescue played out. we are here in the woods back here in the bryant home, you can see how swampy and muddy it is here. miles and his brother and a friend were playing in a creek that runs back here and the creek wall collapsed trapping him and it took hours and over 100 first responders to rescue him. >> i don't usually freak out but it was scary. >> miles bryant spent hours stuck in the muddy creek. these still photos showed the massive effort it took to free

him. he was playing in the woods playing with his 9-year-old brother and a friend. >> i was walking along the creek and it gave out and i fell into the mud. >> his feet were stuck in the muck beneath the waist deep water. the boys tried to free him and then they ran and got his mom. >> he got one leg out and then the other got deeper. they tried to dig him out and then called 911. >> the first responders realized this was a complicated and risky rescue and reinforcements came from across the county. >> you were fighting mother nature with the mud and water and we tried to divert the creek from below and more water kept coming up below him. >> finally special equipment pumped air into mile's stuck foot and the suction released and his leg came free. >> i could hear cheers in the woods. the bryants' are so grateful for

saving miles' foot and probably his life. >> i would like to thank them. the way they embraced my son. they made him feel safe in a not safe situation. >> reporter: now miles was air-lifted to childrens hospital where he was treated for mild hyperthermia and released. he is fine tonight, so fine in fact he went to play if his first baseball game of the season. i'm sara bloomquist, channel 6 "action news." >> thank you sara, the mayor of nazareth north hampton county turned himself in to authorities to face the charge of felony theft. carl stire jr. was accused of stealing $8,000 from his fire social club. he was released of his own

recognizance and has no plans to resign as mayor. it happened this morning in the lehigh valley, a suv hit a house and burst into flames killing the driver, the house then caught fire. chad pradelli has the story from south whitehall township. >> reporter: the impact startled the homeowners awake, a look outside and they see the fairmount street home on fire. sabina's 11-year-old son heard the impact and looked out his window. >> he heard a boom sound and then heard my neighbor screaming. >> it was 3:00 a.m. and the dodge durango was traveling eastbound when the driver lost control of the vehicle. >> it struck the parked car and then veered over into the house and then the vehicle caught on fire. john murray was ejected from the suv, a nurse inside of house rendered aid but the 21-year-old died on scene. the woman inside is being

treated at a local hospital. >> i was scared when i saw it, i came out and talked to the police officer, i was scared and i couldn't believe what i saw. it was really scary, it could happen to my house, what if the car flipped on my side? >> it's unclear if drugs or alcohol played a role, a liquor bottle was found amidst the wreckage and none of the occupants of the now charred home were injured. >> thankfully the family is okay. people need to be more careful driving next time. >> this family tells me off cam remark they will be fine, they can rebuild the damage but their thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims. in south whitehall, chad pradelli, channel 6 "action news." a high school science teacher from mercer county is under arrest tonight accused of having inappropriate can't with a female student. 26-year-old edmond harmon is

charged with three counts of endangering the welfare of a child and one count of sexual contact. prosecutors say he went to harmon's classroom seeking extra credit and that is when they say that harmon fondled the girl and told her to send naked photographs of herself. bail is set at $150,000. atlantic city workers protested this afternoon against a proposed state take over of the city's finance. it would give the state the power to break collective bargaining agreements and break contracts. it has already passed the senate and speaker says he will not support it. philadelphia mayor, jim kenney, has introduced his choices to be the next fire and

in philadelphia. investigators say that two children received minor injuries, police have not said what caused the crash. new at 6:00 tonight, philadelphia's office of money management is shining a light on volunteer organizations tonight. vital to the city's emergency response efforts. up, a high of 62 degrees and temperatures warm up dramatically as we head into the weekend. the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast, cool tomorrow morning, and cool in the afternoon, mostly sunny but nice for this time of year. a high of 58 degrees, on thursday a few clouds in the morning and afternoon sunshine and slightly milder 62 degrees and friday beautiful and 64 and we are overdue for a great weekend. we have got one. saturday mostly sunny and 67 degrees and sunday break out the shorts and 72 degrees and monday ahead of a cold front we get a surge of winds from the southwest. calling for 77 degrees in philadelphia, i wouldn't be surprised if some areas touch 80 and on tuesday the cold front rolls through and brings us the possibility of rain and a high of 77 degrees. that is a nice looking seven-day forecast.
