city hall. a message from the commander and chief, which university will host him for graduation next month. and the big story is a man killed on his scooter in the kensington section. police recovered the vehicle involved and now they are trying to track down the person behind the wheel. katherine scott is live now where investigators found the car. >> reporter: that is right sara, we are in the neighborhood where the investigators found the hit and run vehicle they believe is involved with this fatal crash last night. police have been here all night and all morning long because they believe there is a home here connected to the investigation. you can see police are parked across the street from the home here in port richmond. they need to obtain a search warrant to go into the home. but in the last 15 minutes, several people that were not law enforcement showed up and

knocked on the door and it appears that someone left them inside. this 2005 pontiac aztec was found in port richmond last night. police believe it was the vehicle involved in a hit and run that killed a 35-year-old man riding a scooter. >> police broadcasted the information over police radio and the district officers did a great job. about a half hour later they located the vehicle parked unattended. the crash happened at aramingo and lehigh in kensington. police tell a man riding a scooter was hit by a man and kept going. >> the striking vehicle then dragged this victim about 200 feet. >> witnesses were able to tell police a license plate number and they located the vehicle less than a mile away. police quickly determined who the registered owner was and don't know who was behind the

wheel. they continue to collect evidence. >> we are certain that the driver of the striking vehicle realized what he did, and the fact that you did not render any aid and you drove from the scene after causing this fatal auto accident, you are looking at serious charges. >> reporter: again detectives are waiting to obtain the search warrant, no arrests have been made. we are live in port richmond, channel 6 "action news." >> thank you. drivers ran into highway delays because of this collision between two cars and that construction sign. it happened along i-95 southbound a mile south of academy road in the holmesburg section. police had to bloke off some lanes while they clean the wreckage. a man is arrested after a violent rampage in north philadelphia, police say he stabbed a man and a woman at 18th and girard.

the police say he fire four shots and shot an employee of the bar and all three victims were rushed to the hospital while police chased the attacker to 18th and master where he was taken into custody. no word on a possible motive. several people are recovering from a house fire in strawberry mansion, an 83-year-old man and his daughter and two grandchildren were inside when the flames broke out here on nicholas street. a family member tells "action news" that family members struggled through the smoke to escape. >> you couldn't see and you can't find the door you are walking through for 50 years, he made it down the steps and fell and my sister grabbed him and some miraculous way they made it out safely. >> medics took four people to various hospitals but everyone is expected to be okay. >> protesters took to the

sidewalk the a north philadelphia mcdonald's to demand higher wages across the nation. today's rally was part of a nationwide call for a $15 an hour minimum wage, another protest is expected to start at 3:30 this afternoon. the demonstrators plan to march to city hall. turning to accuweather now, get ready for a nice stretch of spring time temperatures, sky 6 hd looking live at penn's landing and we see plenty of sunshine and clear skies. things were on the chilly side this morning and we are climbing into the 60s and even the 70s this weekend. sounds terrific, lets get the latest from karen rogers in for david murphy on the terrace. >> reporter: it feels nice here on the terrace, we deserve the nice weather we are getting. it was rainy last weekend and snow showers the week before. lets show you the morning lows though, we started on the cold

side. 29 in millville and 34 in the city and we sat at the freezing mark in reading and we were concerned once again this morning with frost and it may be a concern tonight as well. there is hardly a cloud in the sky and it's really beautiful, a weak disturbance rolled into the poconos and brought clouds and pushed to the east and we are enjoying wall-to-wall sunshine and with the sunshine the temperatures are a nice jump, 57 degrees in philadelphia and 59 in washington and 57 in pittsburgh. all along the mid-atlantic the temperatures are driving up from the early morning cold. a high today of 62, just a degree below average. the average is 63. lets take a look at what to expect for the phils it's a picture perfect day to go to the ballpark. southbound 0

hillary clinton and bernie sanders are hosting dual rallies, saners firing up nearly 30 thousand supporters in the park. >> there are a lot of people here tonight. >> a rock star welcome for the vermont senator before taking aim at clinton. >> if someone gets paid $225,000 for a speech. it must be an unbelievably extraordinary speech. >> a smaller low key crowd for clinton's rally in the bronx. clinton did not really go after sanders, instead focusing on her likely republican challenger. >> unlike donald trump we are not saying some people don't belong, we are not saying some people are not wanted. >> while on the republican side, donald trump supporters and protesters clashing at a rally in pittsburgh. but then trump stunned the crowd with this comment.

is expected to survive after being shot four times on the job. crofton was ambushed while talking to a colleague. he was called to assist the co-worker in a traffic stop and shortly after arriving, a suspect fired six shots and the other constable on the scene fired back. they were questioning a man that showed up at a nearby fire station that matched the description of the suspect however no one is arrested or charged. russian officials have rejected complaints by the united states of russian planes buzzing close to a navy destroyer. they say it happened multiple times, it came twice past below the navigation bridge, officials say they saw the ship and turned back using all measures of precaution. another 85 million cars may have to be recalled because they have defective airbag inflaters

by takata. officials say all the inflaters have to be replaced if takata cannot prove they are safe. this issue is blamed for 11 deaths and dozens of injuries. today a belgium judge ordered muhammad obrini the man in the white hat and others to stay behind bars they are facing charges in the attacks in brussels and paris, one is accused of helping a key suspect escape from france to belgium. he was arefrested in belgium la week and believed to have went to syria and met with extremists in england. president obama is welcoming members of the wounded warrior project to washington today. he and vice president joe biden spoke to a crowd at the white house a short time ago. the national cycling event

a new airline service takes flight at philadelphia international airport today. frontier is launching non-stop service to nashville, new orleans, saint augustine, florida. they are offering fares as low as $20 but the sale is for today only and bringing back seasonal service to charlotte, houston and chicago. there is now a reason to celebrate at wawa city and company leaders are marking the 52nd anniversary with a party at the flag ship store at walnut. they announced a $500,000 gift to help stop fire deaths to the red cross, and customers can also get free coffee today. wawa expects to give away 1.5 million free cups.

he became a champion when he took up fencing at an olney high school and now he is at it again. tamala edwards has more. >> it's more than just a hobby, he is ranked eighth in the world of fencers over the age of 70. when asked why, his answer is simple. >> i'm good at it for one thing. >> he was a sophomore at olney high in 1960. >> a state championship twice. he went on a fencing scholarship to college and competed for years after but when he moved abroad he gave it up, until he retired and decided to take tup again. >> didn't have much intellectual challenge and i decided to take it up again. it was difficult. getting back into shape.

a few clouds move through the northern zone with a weak disturbance earlier. other than that nothing happening on the radar and satellite image. as you look at this image, you can almost see where the high pressure is. the precipitation is suppressed to the south and west and over us there is dry conditions. it's an omega block. you have lows on either side preventing any new weather pattern from coming in, we don't want one. we have high pressure over the next few days and sinking air that allows for clear conditions and sunshine, and that will continue. by 2:00 p.m. 60 degrees and lots of sunshine and by 4:00 p.m. 62 and the average is 63 so around average. by 6:00 p.m. 62. and clear skies tonight and 8:00
