students mourn the loss of a classmate in delaware. and the eagles are getting ready to make a big quarterback move in tonight's nfl draft. but the big story is another day of gloomy weather out there. looking at sky 6 hd, we are in for a chilly and cloudy afternoon with rain moving into the region. for more on that, david murphy is at the big board with the latest from double scan live radar. >> reporter: we have rain creeping up into wilmington, delaware and south jersey and every now and then we have yellow mixing in and that say steady downpour. and some on the other side of newark, new jersey. if you have travel plans in southwestern chester county or newcastle, delaware in some cases you'll want to slow it down because of ponding and puddling on the roads. this is on the march from the south and it looks to be up in chadds ford and media and

philadelphia over the next hour and a half. down in south jersey more of the same with a break around millville, and there are patches of darker green and yellow coming in and cape may getting hit with steadier rain and dover, delaware seeing a bit of steadier rain popping through as well. if we go out wider, some western areas, so far so good. but as we move this it's marching in your direction. probably another hour or so it will be up in philadelphia and reading and you'll have to wait longer later this afternoon in doylestown and places like that. it's arriving though and the good news is the bulk of the main rain is coming through and behind it there is not much less down by washington, d.c. i expect lighter sprinkles and showers around this evening and through tomorrow. this is the big number coming through right now and it should be arriving later this afternoon and the bulk of it wrapping up

this afternoon and this evening. cool and cloudy and on the breezy side you'll want a jacket. and your high today only 59, we'll allow for us to get to that in the next hour, hour and a half. and then the temperatures will drop as the rain comes in, i'll show you future tracker 6's take on how the rain will progress and what is left over behind it coming up in the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast. police arrested thousands of drug suspects in delaware county today but in the process they raided an innocent woman's house as her children looked on. annie mccormick is live now with more from darby borrow. >> reporter: the police chief says he will personally apologize for that, and overall they raided a dozen homes and they called it a success and nabbed dozens of suspects. this was such a large operation they needed law enforcement from

agencies from across the area and at one point they needed septa buses to help move along suspects. these are officers in front of darby borough police station, they are processing the suspects and the operation is about getting drugs off the street from heroin to meth to pills. >> operation spring cleaning began at dawn, a culmination of a six month operation by darby police, seven teams made arrests in delaware county, philadelphia and chester. >> this today is sending a message to darby bureau we are not going to tolerate drug sales on our corners. >> individuals that are destroying the character and quality of our neighborhood season making life miserable for law abiding residents.

>> local and state law enforcement assisted in nabbing 100 sellers and $48,000 in seized and recovered drugs and weapons. and overall the operation went smoothly but this woman, natasha richardson is outraged she was a case of mistaken identity. the chief says there can be flaws but they are reaching out to her. >> they pulled him out of his bed and pulled him out of his bed. i thought the dog would come out and they would shoot one of my dogs. >> we have to do what we have to do to make it right. we'll go down and apologize. >> reporter: and the chief says they have no other cases of mistaken homes reported to them and they are using this as an opportunity to involve a 2015 homicide they believe is drug

related. all suspects will be charged with selling drugs and district attorney jack walen is outfitting detectives with narcan, and they will assess who will need help with rehabilitation. reporting live i'm annie mccormick, channel 6 "action news." >> thank you. police are apologizing for a mistake in southwest philadelphia, they raided the wrong house on elmwood yesterday. s.w.a.t. officers scared the people inside because they thought there were suspects hiding in there but after questioning the family they realized they had the wrong home. commissioner ross spoke with "action news." >> it was a good final effort, nobody went out there trying to terrorize a specific household but it appears that we went to the wrong house. and our apology to the

homeowners. >> the officers left behind a broken door but nobody was hurt. the city will take care of fixing any damage. grief counselors were on hand for a middle school in newcastle, delaware, trying to deal with the death of a class matt. jordan sponwas struck and killed trying to cross the busy dupont highway by basin road. the teenager stepped into the panel of a toyota camera. students and teachers expressed shock and sadness about the fatal accidents. turning to politics, bernie sanders is trimming his campaign staff after losing four states to hillary clinton in the democratic primaries. >> and they are focused on the next primary in indiana. >> reporter: good afternoon rick and sara, recent polls though a

there is a new resource for people struggling to pay back their student loans. the government launched a new website helping them pay back their loans. enrolling them in programs to stagger their payments. thousands of older women are living below the poverty line in our region but there say new program that can help for women facing homelessness and need help with their housing costs. tamala edwards has more in the art of aging. >> ann marie stout needed help to pay the bills. >> it's nice to have someone else here and we are getting older and there are health officials involved. >> i was in the homeless shelter. >> the two women were brought

meteorologist, david murphy, is here now way closer look at the accuweather forecast. any sunshine at all? >> not a whole lot. we had some breaking through this morning. but it's cloudy today and probably tomorrow too. stormtracker 6 live double scan showing we are turning ourselves into a wet area. the southern half of the region has rain and it has overtaken wilmington, delaware. light stuff in southern chester county and up towards southern delaware county. i'll lapse this once and you see how it's charging up from the southwest. sometimes heavier cells in orange and yellow, if are you in central newcastle county, delaware and parts of south jersey you may get a steadier rain ponding and puddling on the roadways.

down to cape may county, it looks wet there too in and out of the steadier rain. the wide view the northern suburbs not quite there yet. it looks like reading, the edge of berks county and another 20 to 30 minutes are you starting to get wet there too. i like to leave you with the wide view. lets head outside. we have sky 6 hd, and we have the operative plane shooting the planes screwed to the ground down below. there was some sunshine and shadows there earlier, but no more. 56 currently in philadelphia. we may add a few more to that number over the next hour or so and then we turn it around and start dropping as the rain comes in. on the breezy side. mid-50s in allentown, philadelphia and wilmington, reading and trenton and millville. cooler down in cape may and dover, and these are the areas where the rain is falling, i am mentioning once the rain starts

the numbers will get suppressed a bit. we are probably still looking at showers around, i think it may thin out but someone is getting wet by 3:00 and are you looking at spotty precipitation around and when it stops raining you may have damp road conditions in the evening commute. and at 11:00 tonight adam and cecily will still have sprinkles to show you, it will still be damp and cloudy and cool. 57 degrees and waiting on the rain, it will be there over the next couple of hours. already raining at the shore and wet through the afternoon and evening. 51 is the high there. in philadelphia, a high of 59 if we do manage that it will be in the next hour before we turn the numbers around and tomorrow looks a bit unsettled. your exclusive accuweather forecast. clouds and rain in process of moving in through the afternoon and rain and drizzle at times tomorrow and otherwise cloudy
