spring township that's in berks county. that's how many students were on a bus, a school bus that was rear-ended by a car. 17 students were transported to the hospital as was the driver of the car. "action news" reporter walter perez is live at the scene and walter, what's the latest there? >> reporter: well, jim, the scene has since been cleared here at the intersection of shillington road and spohn road in spring township berks county. all the kids on board that bus were middle schoolers but we're happy to report that though several children were taken to the hospital no serious injuries have been reported. it was right around 2:30 this afternoon when it happened. the wilson school district bus filled with 34 students, two adults and a driver was returning from a field trip. investigators say that's when this vehicle ran into the rear of the bus as it crossed the intersection of shillington road and spohn road in spring township berks county. 17 of those students were taken to nearby hospitals and we're told the driver of the car was also injured but

there's no word at this hour on that person's condition. emergency crews set up a triage area just a few feet away from the accident scene so the rest of the people on board could be evaluated by medical personnel. but school officials say most of the kids only suffered from case a rattled nerves. spring township police chief brian ross sales there were no serious injuries but two of the middle schoolers are being treated for open wounds. >> there were two students that were injured to the extent that they had lacerations and or bumps and bruises and there were another 15 that complained of some type of -- a lot of it was emotional so we transported 15 individuals by bus to reading hospital, the two that had visible injuries went to saint luke's by ambulance. >> reporter: now, the children on board that bus were not taken to the hospital, were sent home with their parents as soon as their parents showed up. meanwhile police are still interviewing witnesses to this case so at this hour still no word who was at fault.

reporting live from spring township berks county, walter perez channel6 "action news." >> thank you walter. we have breaking news now as we can see from chopper6 there is an oil sheen that has developed on the schuylkill river. this is between the spring garden and chestnut street bridges. we don't know where it's from, don't know how many gallons of oil are in the river but you can can plainly see the sheen from chopper6. now, this is the same basic area that had 4200 gallons of oil a spill in january, oil that seeped down into the river from the csx tracks on the west side of the river. don't know the origin of this spill. we know that there is oil on top of the river. don't know how deep it goes or how many gallons there are but we obviously will try to find out as much information as we can.

philadelphia police now say a second person died in the wake of this crash yesterday in the east falls section of the city. a six-year-old was pronounced dead within an hour after the accident. and now it turns out that a 20-year-old died several hours later. "action news" reporter sarah bloomquist is live in the 5400 block of henry avenue the scene of the deadly crash. sarah. >> reporter: jim, police believe the car carrying seven people, adults and children spun out on the wet pavement right into oncoming traffic here on this curve on henry avenue behind me as you said an adult male and a young boy died as a result of their injuries. police said today they believe the injuries would have been less severe, perhaps even lives saved had the victims been properly restrained with seat belts and car seats. henry avenue where a mazda six carrying seven people including four children spun out on the wet pavement and

crossed into the path of an oncoming mazda three. they were placed there by janice thomas who was traveling with her adult granddaughter when they came upon the horrific scene just after 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon. she saw two women lying in the road. >> they were completely ejected from the vehicle, completely. people in the back seat, the one who passed away, he was hanging out then tire back window was gone. >> reporter: the women ages 23 and 25 had been up front. the child ejected from the back seat was six-year-old eric barksdale perez who was pronounced dead a short time later. a seven week old girl and her father 20-year-old zaire ross wilson who died last night from his injuries. good samaritans including two off duty police officers pulled over to help and administered cpr. >> it was a chaotic scene but yet at the same time it was calm because everyone was just

jumped right in and were doing their jobs. >> reporter: police confirm today only the infant girl was in a car seat. none of the adults were wearing seat belts and the other kids were not restrained in car seats as required bylaw. >> this is very unfortunate to see the devastation that occurred as a result of not being restrained properly seated in the vehicle. >> i was there. i didn't see any booster seats and that's what breaks my heart for that little boy who, , who tragically died. didn't have to happen. >> reporter: police do not think that speed was a factor. they also don't think that either driver was impaired in any way. the two women, two boys and the infant all remain in area hospitals with very serious injuries in critical condition tonight. the occupants of the other vehicle are in critical but stable condition. they were wearing seat belts. live in east falls, i'm sarah sh

governor chris christie. guardian says that plan leaves the city and its residents without a seat at the table. the assembly could vote thursday on a compromise plan to give atlantic city two years to get its finances in order. emmaus high school put on lockdown this morning after two bullets were found inside a boy's bathroom. police quickly identified the person responsible and deemed that there was no threat. the person reportedly intended to cause an early dismissal at the school. no weapons or additional bullets were found. classes did resume. you will soon see more highways with the speed limit of 70 miles per hour across pennsylvania. state transportation officials announced today that they're increasing the speed limit on more than 800 miles of road along the turnpike and five other state highways. penndot officials have already began putting up the new signs. they should be finished by the end of the week. coming up on "action news"

13-year-old female student. needless to say there is much reaction around the school community to these developments. new jersey correspondent nora muchanic has the story. >> he's like a great teacher an great guy. like i'm like really surprised at all these, you know, allegations are coming up against him. >> reporter: parents are reacting tots arrest of 65-year-old chester ingram a sixth grades social studies teacher at anne mullen middle school in sicklerville. he was charged friar with sexually assaulting a female student under the age of this afternoon and endangering the welfare of a child. the school district released a statement saying it's cooperating with police and that the teacher was immediately removed from the classroom suspended and ordered to remain off the property. lynn isn't surprised by the charges. she says five years ago when her granddaughter was a student at mullen the child grew uncomfortable with the attention ingram was allegedly paying to her. >> he was close to her telling her how pretty you are, you dress pretty, i love redheads. >> reporter: did you go to

spine. and that was just the beginning of a long road back to the ice. >> after surgery for the first two or three days i couldn't move or feel my legs. and then my mom didn't think i would be able to walk again actually. >> he couldn't get out of bed. they had to teach him how to roll out of bed. had to help him do normal functions that you normally take for granted. one month later kyle walked out of the hospital. while in the hospital kyle set a goal to get back on the ice with his team for senior night and at the end of february with two rods and 10 screws in his neck not only did he reach that goal, he will scored one, too. [cheers and applause] >> the place was packed. and just the moment he stepped on the ice, i mean, everybody was clearing. i really can't describe it. it was unreal and then the to score a goal ton see his whole team just running the corner and just hug him, i'm tearing up now. it brought tears to everybody eyes. you lined around everybody was crying.

55 and pottstown currently 62 degrees. heading into south jersey, though, you saw more sunshine earlier so vineland 71 dover delaware 70 degrees so more sunshine areas to the south. satellite6 along with action radar showing that finally we have been breaking out. again, with some clear skies south of philadelphia i want to show you what's happening, though in washington, d.c. there is a severe thunderstorm there and this actually has some hail with it. you can see the hail core right here so a severe thunderstorm warning in effect. our chance of severe weather really greatly diminished fortunately here thanks to the fact that the clouds did hang tough much of the day. so, future tracker showing around 10 o'clock tonight this is when we'll see some showers mainly south of philadelphia but this really fills in around midnight. by 12:30, future tracker showing some thunderstorms so don't be surprised if you hear that rum. rumble of thunder. heavy rain continuing into the morning commute.

7 o'clock a soaking rain. as we head through the day we're looking at improving conditions. by about 11 o'clock the scattered showers hanging along the coast and there end they move off so the rest of the day lots of clouds with occasional drizzle but the heavy rain will be confined to the morning. so, the exclusive accuweather 7-day forecast, we get that morning rain then clouds the remainder of the day. it stays cool 64 degrees. low pressure moving in on wednesday. clouds with showers and this low pressure what's called a cutoff low it's ought cut off from the jet stream so there's nothing to push it around so it meanders thursday and friday with more clouds and sun with a chance of showers. not all day rain but a chance of showers any time during the day and then we break out of that on saturday. saturday's looking gorgeous. partly sunny and warm, 74 degrees. sunday for mother's day some sunshine but then a cold front will bring us a chance of a shower but not a washout. a pretty nice day, 72 degrees and monday sun mixing with clouds with a high of 74 so it stays unsettled through the
