>> reporter: yet again we are stuck in this gloomy weather pattern, we should be used to it it's four days straight now. double scan live radar showing a little bit of drizzle. finally the storms that are lashing out at is the jersey shore are pulling off the coast but they got a lot of rain. stormtracker 6 live double scan showing the rainfall estimates. you can see just to the west of the garden state parkway near surf city, an inch to inch and a half of rain than caused some localized flooding, the national weather service posted a flood advisory until 6:00 for parts of atlantic and ocean county for minor flooding occurring and with the thunderstorms and heavy rain also a lot of lift that is causing this. looks like snow. it's not snow, it's hail. misty mosted this on my facebook page from west lake, new jersey. you see the pea size hail covering her porch and

planning for the republican convention in cleveland. on the democratic side, bernie sanders may have won in indiana last night but he now needs to win an even higher percentage of the delegates. it shows clinton ahead of trump by 13 points, but he vows to take his fight to the democratic convention here in philadelphia. a philadelphia police officer shot and killed a man in overbrook this morning and now police are in the middle of an internal investigation to figure out what happened and whether the shooting was justified. gray hall is live on overbrook avenue this morning. where all of this played out before sunrise today. >> reporter: well brian, it's safe to say that many in this community are rattled by the shooting and people want answers as to why this happened. >> all i heard was freeze, stop,

pop pop pop and that is when everything froze. >> people living in the overbrook section are on edge after police shot and killed a driver early wednesday morning along lancaster avenue and some are questioning if the shooting was justified. >> we have license plate, we have detections, there is camera everywhere, on the corner, follow him and arrest him. you don't take life. life is precious. >> the woman admits she did not see anything but believes she heard the driver of the van before he was shot. >> i heard the kid yelling, i'm stopping i'm stopping and pow pow pow pow pow. that was it i didn't hear nothing else. >> it started when police got calls about this minivan in the area that seemed suspicious. officers responded and tried to get the van to stop but it didn't. they eventually cornered the van and the driver didn't stop and drove toward them and then one

officer fired several shots killing the driver. >> they got out and he attempted to flea from them trapping one of the officer between the car and other area where he didn't feel like he could escape. and he discharged his weapon. >> commissioner ross says it's too early to see if the shooting was justified and there will be an internal affairs investigation. >> we'll look for other witnesses as well. civilianwities to see what we can find and see if it matches up with what the officers are saying. >> back out live, we can tell you that no one else was hurt. the driver did slam into several parked vehicles, police say at this point he was not armed and they are looking into his background. we are looking for more information in this case. >> all right gray thank you. just hours before that shooting in overbrook, another police involved shooting played

out in southwest philadelphia. 12 district officers were on patrol when they heard gun fire, they tracked down the man carrying the gun on the 1500 block of grays avenue and the confrontation started. >> they approached the male and told him to drop the weapon, the male aimed the weapon at police and fired and missed. and the officer shot two times back and shot the suspect in the leg. >> the man is expected to survive and another man was taken into custody at the scene for questioning, the circumstances of the shooting are still under investigation. the city of philadelphia is honoring those who have made the ultimate sacrifice. [ taps ] >> mayor jim kenney and police commissioner, richard ross were among those paying respect at the living flame memorial service at the park today. it's dedicated to fallen police

the schuylkill westbound from there to university. toward 30th street that is where there was a broken down vehicle on the westbound side. it's gone now and both lanes are reopen under 30th street station, you are looking at speeds like 12 miles per hour. christie told us about the protesters by city hall and now they are in dillworth park and they are not blockling the streets around penn square. keep that in mind. across the board speeds are starting to drop as they often do this time of the afternoon. 15 miles per hour on 95 northbound side by the betsy ross bridge. and a crash on bryn mawr avenue. and one by the exton square mall along business 30, lincoln highway near iron lake boulevard. and here in camden county, the southbound side of 295 passing the black horse pike getting slow near the 42 freeway and in berlin a crash near haddon avenue at bait avenue.

one worker died and another was wounded during the attack at night transportation office near houston, texas. police say that the gunman was just fired from the business two weeks ago, he took his own life after the shooting and his name has not been released . takata is recalling 35 million to 45 million airbags because they could explode when they go off. at least 10 people have died from the airbags, investigators say when they go off they could explode and send shrapnel into the people they are suppose to be protecting. this effect s 20% of the vehicls on the road in the united states. we have more information at 6abc.com. now a look at today's closing numbers this afternoon. everything is down and the dow is down 100 points and the nasdaq falling 37.5 and the s&p

500 down 12.25 points on the day. eastern state penitentiary cut the ribbon today on a new ground breaking exhibit. it's called prisons today. it challenges visitors to re-examine their thoughts about the role and effectiveness of prisons in america. the exhibit is three years in the making, the first major museum exhibit to tackle mass incarcerati incarceration. tonight a minimally invasive procedure is showing big promise in getting rid of cellulite. >> reporter: 85 to 95% of women have it and there is no way to get rid of it. >> it bothers me a lot especially in the summertime. >> this could be something that lets women avoid the recur an of cellulite for decades.

temperature-wise it's chilly out here and you need a restaurant with warm chili. and 50 in atlantic city and philadelphia and 51 in trenton. northeast winds, they are not very strong but they cut through you, very damp at 10 miles per hour in philadelphia, trenton and wilmington and 12 miles per hour in millville. as you look at satellite and radar, low pressure south of michigan, that is really going to slowly pivot to the south and off the coast. raleigh to virginia and the northeast, we are socked in the clouds, on and off showers as well as drizzle, that is kind of the forecast for tonight and patchy drizzle from this point it's cloudy here, and there are hundreds of reservations tonight and it should stay relatively dry, 46 to 49 degrees, but future tracker will confirm from 8:00 tomorrow morning, mainly cloudy and not much in the way of rain and that continues into 5:00 a.m. and a few spotty showers

"action news" continues with meteorologist, adam joseph, alicia vitarelli, sharrie williams and brian taff. hello again 4:30 and "action news" continues with new developments in the search for an escaped inmate in south jersey. and new video shows the terrifying moments that two men held up a center city store orderi ordering employees around at gun point. and we bring attention to a sculpture bringing attention to texting and driving. but first police in gloucester township has broken up a sophisticated theft ring, that they are using high tech bags to take off with premium merchandise. walter perez is live outside of the police department with the

details. >> reporter: this investigation is not over yet. gloucester township police are working to determine if the men involved in this ring are part of a larger credit card fraud ring. >> they are not trying to steal to get by or survive. they are trying to make a living out is of stealing. gloucester county police chief is talking about the men that nearly got away with merchandise stolen from high end stores from the gloucester premium outlets it starts when officers on patrol spotted the man trying to make a purchase using credit card and debit cards that were being die kneed. they watched the suspect go to a vehicle where they observed three men coming and going. when they moved in to speak to a suspect one started to panic. >> one of people we didn't know that were watching is trying to hide is the credit cards that were stolen or falsified credit

cards underneath mulch or trying to hide them. that is when police officers swooped in and arrested four men all from the bronx. inside of their vehicle they found high end clothing and jewelry and boxes of sneakers and even the equipment they used to make the phoney credit and debit cards. >> they had a laptop commuter and plastic printser and created gift cards and making numbers and stolen information and we are working on how they got that information. >> department harkins says the arrests are more gratifying because it's the first major bust made the retail investigation bureau. >> we have all kinds of covert and overt operations being conducted with the partnership of our retail vendors and stores. >> those suspects face a string of charges including theft by deception and receiving stolen

property and conspiracy. reporting live from gloucester township. there is more on the search for an escaped prisoner in south jersey. there is a shelter in place at schools in ocean county. arthur buckle was reported missing from hammonton prison yesterday. they found a truck that buckle was believed to have stolen. that truck was towed from a cvs in barnegat. this escape could send him back to prison for an extra three to five years. newcastle county police are investigating a crash involving a patrol car. the officer's vehicle collided with another car at the intersection of sixth and orange street in wilmington. one person was injured but at this time we don't know who was hurt or the extent of their injuries. >> police are looking for the

man that robbed a center citibank in broad daylight today. this is the picture of the man wanted for the crime. they say he passed a note to the teller demanding money, it happened at noon today. anyone with information about the crime or the man you see here is asked to call the fbi or philadelphia police. meanwhile, the search is also on for two men that robbed an olney family dollar store at gun point. this is new video showing the mask masked intruders telling the employees to open the safe and registers. they tried but could not get the safe open. the suspects ran with money from the registers. and now delaware county is celebrating 100 years of protecting and serving the community. the haverford police force posed for their picture today in fronts of the police station, they are celebrating the department's hundred years in

tables out at 9:00 and they can eat in the middle of state street. a lot of clouds be it's dining under the clouds here tonight. but the heavy rain that started at noon along the coast has pushed to the north and east and a few left over showers in parts of northern long beach island as well as ocean county, and temperatures are really cool and boston 47 and new york city 51 degrees and philadelphia 53 and we can expect these very chilly temperatures to continue through the rest of weekend and we are tracking another round of heavy rain and we'll talk about the timing of that and not only are we drinking some tea i need to taste the food before we start to serve the people. they serve thousands of people, it's 22 weeks during the summer that they do this. and there are a few folks dressed up to the nine's and i'll explain why they are dress that way and maybe they can help

10-year-old is getting a big payout from instagram for finding a security flaw in the app. the boy from helsinki may be young but do not underestimate his hacking ability. the flaw he found allowed him to delete comments from other people and he could have deleted comments from justin bieber if he wanted. he is getting $10,000 from the bug hacker program, the boy is the youngest hacker to date. and he says he plans to use the money to buy a bike and a brand new soccer ball. think he can get quite a bit more. finally this piece of mangled metal is used to send an important message. it's sprint's sculpture of the last emoji draw ago tension to texting and driving. this is a behind the scenes

if you want to stay on the southbound new jersey turnpike that would be a better bet but farther south, there is a crash on the turnpike just past exit 4, the good news with that one is it's off to the side. speeds there registering at 65 miles per hour. outside live this is the roosevelt boulevard, east falls a typical backup on the schuylkill and southbound we have a broken down vehicle heading towards the schuylkill but that is clear. and lincoln drive a crash approaching rittenhouse. and an accidents at chel tan ham, and in centersville, they are helping you around a wreck at township road. we'll check it again coming up in the 5:00 hour. we have breaking news coming out of north carolina. the u.s. justice department says that a state law that limits protections to lgbt people violates federal civil rights,

the state has until monday that it will not comply with or implement the law called house bill two it would have prevented transgender from using public bathrooms that do not match their biological sex and from city's from passing none discrimination laws. and we'll have more on the decision coming up in the next half hour.
